STANDARD OPS FOR GOL SCREENING SESSION
CONSIDERATIONS
The airplane will be a Boeing 737-800 27K rated, already lined-up SBGR RWY 27L .
Speeds will be set for a ATOW of 58.000kg. The take-off data will be the following:
RWY TO: 27L RWY Landing 09R Wind Calm
ZFW: 52.000 Kg Touch & Go landing 09R QNH 1013
Fuel: 6.000 Kg Ceiling 1.000 ft OAT 20ºC
TOW: 58.000 Kg Visibility: 9999 ALT/CRUISE 6000 ft
V1 127 VR 129 V2 139
According to GOL´s oficial material (attached), the flight will be as described: fully raw
data/manual flight (autopilot and auto throtlle not allowed) normal takeoff at SBGR
runway 27L, climbing to 6000ft heading IG NDB. After IG, should fly QDR 250. Then,
will receive instructions to fly STN VOR. The first landing will be accomplished after
receiving vectors for SBGR 09R ILS W APPROACH, followed by a touch-and-go and
right visual traffic for runway 09R, for a complete landing.
COCKPIT PREPARATION
- The flight deck will be already adjusted for the flight with BEFORE TAKE-OFF
CHECKLIST completed. However, make sure you have the following adjusted:
- Radios and bearings set to STN 114.3 and ADF to IG 410. Set ALT to 6.000ft, IAS to
V2 and HDG 274;
- EFIS mode set to VOR “FULL ROSE” for raw data flying;
- Check if ELEVATOR TRIM is on green band; &
- Check if you have FLAP 5.
TAKE-OFF
- Call “SET TAKE OFF THRUST” (PM will acelerate to target N1 – 101.9%);
- Hold the yoke with two hands;
- PM will call for “V1/ ROTATE”. Rotate to 15º untill 800´ AGL (aceleration altitude).
- PM will call for “POSITIVE RATE”. Call for “GEAR UP” and move your hands for
the throttle levers.
CLIMB (6.000ft)
- At Acceleration altitude, Pitch down to 10º and reduce to 94% N1;
- Call for “FLAPS 1” and “SET FLAPS UP SPEED”;
- Wait for FLAP 1 maneuvering speed flag and acelerating, then call for “FLAPS UP”;
- At 202 Kts, reduce to 80% N1 and maintain Pitch 10º;
- Call for “AFTER TAKE-OFF CHECKLIST”;
- Passing 5800ft, slowly PITCH DOWN to 5º and level at 6000ft;
- Reduce THRUST to ~58% N1.
Page 1/5
CRUISE
- Speed should be 202~222 kts with PITCH 5º;
- Call for “SET HEADING 230” and Fly heading 230º to intercept QDR 250;
- Once intercepting, call for “SET HEADING 250” and fly QDR 250;
- Expect at this moment some questions related to IG NDB. Then, will receive
instructions to fly to STN VOR;
- Call for “SET COURSE ___º / SET HEADING ____º ” in order to fly direct to STN
(114.3) or to intercept any requested bearing. (expect patterns, questions about entries
and maneuvers over STN, SIM will be freezed)
DESCENT
- Once cleared for the approach, proceed as follows:
- Call for “SET HEADING ___º ” (select an interpect heading for IG and ILS final);
- Call for “SET ALTITUDE ____ ft”;
- Call for “SET RADIOS FOR APPROACH” and make sure PM will properly set ILS
frequency, EFIS mode approach, Course 095 & NDB IG;
- Set throttles to IDLE and start turn to desired heading, descending with pitch 2.5º / 5º;
- Below 202Kt, Call for “FLAPS 1” and “SET SPEED”;
- Once reaching FLAPS UP maneuvering speed flap (182kt), call for “FLAPS 5” and
“SET SPEED”, and maintain airspeed 162-182kt ;
- Descent rate will be around 1000ft/min.
- 150ft above LEVEL OFF, PITCH UP slowly to 6º.
Page 2/5
- Speed will reduce. Don´t allow to reduce below FLAPS 5 flap speed. N1 will be ~
60% and speed ~162kt;
- Fly to intercept LOCALIZER leveled at _____ft. When it becomes alive, call for
“LOC ALIVE” and “SET HEADING 095º ”
- Wait for GS 1 DOT and Call for “GS 1 DOT / GEAR DOWN / FLAPS 15 / SET
SPEED / LANDING CHECKLIST;”
- Maintain Pitch ~6º;
- Speed will reduce from 162 to 152kt, so PITCH DOWN to 2.5º to descend with GS;
- Once captured the GS, call for “GLIDESLOPE CAPTURED” and “SET MISSED
APPROACH ALTITUDE”
- Call for “FLAPS 30 / SET VREF + 5” and PITCH DOWN between 0 and 2.5º to
follow GS.
TOLERANCES: SPEED + 20kt -0kt / ALTITUDE : +200ft -0ft / V/S Below
1000ft AGL: <1000ft/min (is acceptable > 1000ft/min for less than 3 seconds.
Should be aware and call “CORRECTING VERTICAL SPEED”)
Page 3/5
LANDING
- Ideal descent rate is 850ft / min;
- If becomes HIGH, PITCH to 0º / If LOW, PITCH to 2.5º;
- Maintain PAPI 2 red 2 white;
- Go for landing, reduce to IDLE at 20ft AGL.
GO-AROUND
- Maintain directional control and call for “FLAPS 15”;
- Call for “SET TOGA THRUST”;
- Rotate after VR callout and maintain PITCH 15º;
- At “POSITIVE RATE” callout, call for “GEAR UP” and position your hands to the
This throttle levers;
will be - At acceleration altitude, reduce to 80% N1 and call for “FLAPS 5 / SET SPEED”;
very - Maintain airspeed 162~182 KT;
- Call for “SET HEADING 275” and turn RIGHT to downwind leg;
very
- Call for “AFTER TAKE-OFF CHECKLIST / MAINTAIN FLAPS 5 FOR
fast!! VISUAL APPROACH”;
- Level at 4000ft and reduce N1 to ~57% in order to fly the downwind leg with
162~182kt.
DOWNWIND LEG
- Patiently, fly downwind leg with FLAPS 5 and speed 162~182 KT;
- When passing runway threshold ABEAM, call for “TIME”;
- At 20s: call for “GEAR DOWN / FLAPS 15 / SET SPEED / LANDING
CHECKLIST”;
- At 40s call for “FLAPS 30 / SET VREF + 5 / SET HEADING 095”
- Make sure autobrake is set to 3. If not, call for “SET AUTOBRAKES 3”;
- Just after start descending, call for “SET MISSED APPROACH ALTITUDE”
BASE LEG
- Should be at 3600ft when stablished on heading 360;
- Always check thurst in order to don´t allow speed to reduce below VREF + 5;
- Look outside and judge the correct pitch and heading in order to confortably intercept
the final.
- Should be at 3500ft when intercepting final approach.
FINAL / LANDING
- Keep focused on V/S. It should be < 1000ft/min;
- If V/S becomes higher than 1.000ft/min, call for “CORRECTING VERTICAL
SPEED” and imediatelly recover;
- If speed becomes lower then VREF, call for “CORRECTING SPEED” and
imediatelly recover.
