The Impact Of Media On Sports
For the past years the media have had a big effect on society. Many people rely on the media for
news or sports coverage, but they don t realize that the media may influence people s beliefs or
way of behaving. The media cover sports in order to provide information to the fans, but they also
can create fake news to spark controversy in sports. The world of sports is largely affected by the
media as they are a big topic to talk about throughout all kinds of media. Although the media can
provide information about sports to fans, it can also create positive and negative conditions for the
athletes. The media s portrayal of sports creates rivalries between teams and players which increases
competitiveness, damages professional relationships, and lowers morals which affects the player s
motivation and skill.
When the media begins to make comparisons between athletes and sports teams the competitiveness
between them increases. If athletes begin to notice that they are being compared to another athlete,
they may become motivated to work harder in order to outdo their opponent. For instance, Cristiano
Ronaldo, professional soccer player, is constantly being compared with his arch rival Lionel Messi.
These two men are considered the best soccer players in the world, but they play for rival teams.
Their teams are also considered the two best soccer teams in the world which is the main reason
that they are always being compared. When Cristiano was asked about his rivalry with Messi, he
stated that the rivalry that the media created, motivates him to push himself harder in order to
surpass Messi. Cristiano s goal has always been to become the best and this rivalry gives him an
even bigger push to train harder. The rivalry created by the media have benefited both the players
and the fans as they both have become motivated to play better and the fans get their share as they
get to witness a great match between these two amazing players.
Although the media can create healthy rivalries between players, it can also create harmful ones.
What may start as a simple friendly rivalry, can become a serious and problematic issue in sports.
Sometimes a rivalry can become intensely heated and it may become violent. In the sport
How Did Machiavelli Rise To Power
Power is what most people strive for. During the late 1400s, one of the most controversial
political figures the Italians had ever seen was born. His name was Niccolò Machiavelli, and not
only did he strive to advise leaders in the maintenance of power, but he thrived on the authority he
gained. Through his life, Machiavelli educated himself on the art of war, peace, and power.
Machiavelli knew what qualities made a leader, and what qualities broke one. Additionally, he
achieved the great feat of combining politics with science. He acknowledged that every thought
behind a warlike strategy included the science aspects of formation, observation, and cause. Niccolò
Machiavelliinfluenced the start of political science by believing how strong, powerful leaders must
be feared rather than loved, reasoning that the state of mind is... Show more content on

Thus, Machiavelli claimed that when one cannot be both feared and loved, one shall rather be feared
than loved. According to the man himself, Machiavelli asserted in The Prince that ...one should wish
to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared
than loved. Machiavelli believed that a leader should be feared rather than loved, simply because
being feared is safer. A leader who is feared will discern that his subjects are intimidated, which
allows the leader to easily maintain control within his governed state. Additionally, a leader who is
despised, feared, and terrified by his subjects eliminates the prospects of revolts, rebellions, or
traitors. Therefore, being feared is the safer option, as it allows the leader to prosper under the
understanding that all his subjects are loyal to him, and him only. With this concept, Machiavelli
influenced the start of political science by acknowledging the qualities of a true
Slope On Calculus
How can I better facilitate my students understanding of slope (rate of change) while taking calculus?
Introduction
Slope is a very important foundational and abstract mathematical topic that emerges in the secondary
mathematics curricula. It is a topic applied in many fields, including the sciences, but its conceptual
development marks a significant transition to advanced mathematical courses as in the study of
calculus. By definition, calculus is the study of change and motion. In a calculus class, a conceptual
understanding of slope is extremely crucial because it allows for the study of abstract concepts that
rely on application of slope as a rate of change. However, beginning students studying calculus have
difficulty conceptualizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that students can read the slope of a linear function using or/and compute the slope
using the famous slope formula . However, their understanding of slope as a rate of change (Q1)
and slope as a real life application (Q3) is Basic and Far Below Basic. Obviously, there is a
continuous emphasis on the procedural interpretation of slope, rather than a conceptual
development. In addition, students do not have a strong understanding that slope and rate of change
are the same and can be used interchangeably. It seems that they see slope and rate of change as two
separate concepts. Furthermore, most students had difficulty describing the importance of using
slope in certain cases vs. using rate of change in certain cases. Again, slope and rate of change are
taken as two different
Pros And Cons Of Ultranationalism
Nationalism is pursuing national interests of a nation and usually putting that nation s needs and
interests first. Canadians should embrace nationalism so as to be able to pursue Canadian national
interests, but not so much that Canada disregards internationalism and becomes ultranationalist. It is
important to be somewhat nationalistic so Canadacan pursue Canadian national interests, like the
safety and security of Canada. But it is also important that Canada embraces internationalism so
Canada can remain an active part of the global community. If Canada disregards internationalism,
then Canada would be ultranationalistic which would only hurt others in the long run.

Ultranationalism is incredibly bad because it mean a nation pursues nothing but its own national
interests and does anything, even if it means hurting others, to pursue them. It can lead to extreme
crimes against humanity and war because ultranationalistc countries feel the need to assert
themselves over other countries. Such crimes against humanity throughout history include: the
holocaust and the rwandan genocide. An example of an ultranationalistic group today is Daesh
(ISIS). Their ultanationalism has led them to senselessly commit genocide against the Yazidis (an
independent religious community in iraq) simply because they want to pursue their national interest
of creating a purely islamic state in the middle east by eliminating people of other religions. They
had no sense of possibly just simply working peacefully with other religions because they embraced
nationalism so wholly. Some people may argue that crimes against humanity and conflict between
nations is not caused by ultranationalism because ultranationalism is not inherently violent. But that
is wrong because no matter what, ultranationalism is nothing but violent and threatening to world
Generic Child Media Analysis
This media analysis will define the historical development of the generic child and commercial
indoctrination through the mainstream American media. In Sammond s () introduction in Babes in
Tomorrowland, the concept of the generic child is defined through the plasticity of Disney media
promotion during the mid 20th century. This aspect of commercialized American culturereinforced
the generic identity of children as a form of cultural indoctrination, which was also promoted as an
American ideal of good child rearing practices. The historical creation of the Barbie doll also
defines this aspect of cartoonish product for the indoctrination of children into adult behaviors.

Much like Disney cartoons, the creation of an ideal type of fashion show beauty is based
primarily on the worship of the generic blonde image of womanhood. Of course, Barbie is a doll
that is made into an adult figure, which defines the role model that young girls should follow as part
of popular culture. This is a clear form of cultural indoctrination by forcing the child to witness the
popular meaning of Barbie as an icon of American culture. More so, the popularization of Barbie
is one way in which the Mattel Corporation (like the Disney Corporation) can portray idealized an
unrealistic examples of women as a type of cultural child rearing. The Barbie has become the
generic version of the adult American female, which is often promoted as an ideal toy for young
people in the toy marketplace. For instance, Steinberg (2009) defines the way in which the adult
shape of the Barbie provides a means of commercial indoctrination at a very young age in childhood
The Garden Of Earthly Delights By Hieronymus Bosch
The Garden of Earthly Delights is a painting that was created by an artist by the name of
Hieronymus Bosch. The Garden of Earthly Delights is a three panel painting that took from 1505
to 1510 to complete. The three panels consist of a center panel (which stands at approximately 7
2 x 6 4 ) and two outer wings (which stands at approximately 7 2 x 3 2 ). Initially, I d like to talk
about the artist of this elegant masterpiece. This Netherlandish painter is named Hieronymus Bosch.
Bosch was born in s Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands in 1450. Bosch was known for being the most
famous Netherlandish personality. Some of Bosch s most famous paintings are The Garden of
Earthly Delights (as shown in figure 1) and The Crucifixion of St.... Show more content on

The Haywain which was a three panel painting. In the first panel, Bosch illustrates Adam and Eve.
In the center panel, Bosch paints clergy and peasants preforming sinful behavior. Finally, in the
last panel Bosch paints hell. The second example is The Last Judgement (as shown in figure 4)
which he painted in the year of 1504. The center panel shows the fall of humanity. The remaining
two interior panels show sin, chaos and violence. The final example that we can use to find out
Bosch s style of painting and different techniques he uses to paint is the The Temptation of Saint
Anthony (as shown in figure 5) which he painted from 1505 to 1506. In the painting Saint
Anthony is being shown resisting evil and then following a group of believers. Bosch painted a lot
of painting and is an incredibly huge influence on the art world. Bosch has influenced artists
because he would use a lot of symbols in his art to show deeper meaning in the world in the Dark
Ages in the world. Bosch would often paint how he imagined problems in the world would be
handled or turn out often to warn people about why they should never sin. Bosch influenced people
to be good citizens and attend to church by often painting fantasies about hell. Bosch was the most
influential Netherlandish painter the art world has ever seen. Unfortunately, Bosch died in August
1516 (that is an estimate because the exact date is unknown) in his birthplace s Hertogenbosch.
Transcontinental Airways History
Flight has become romanticized by humanity, it provides Freedom . Throughout the majority human
history, humans have used land and water for their transportation needs. The invention of the
airplane opened the use of a third medium, air. Flight only has the illusion of freeing us from earth.
Airplanes would not be able to maintain flight without their ground based systems. These systems
are arranged along flight corridors or airways. The Transcontinental Airway was the first major flight
corridor constructed in the United States. The ground systems constructed along these corridors have
made major impacts upon the landscape of the early 20th century.

There were lights to define the border of each landing strip, approach lights and red lights to mark
obstructions to be avoided.
The features found on the transcontinental were found on airways across the country. Over 18,000
miles, 15550 beacons, and 263 intermediate landing fields were built over the course of the
program. The airways crossed nearly every type of terrain the country has. The manner of lights
installed and where they were installed was dictated by the individual challenges of the terrain of
each airway. It is hard to pin a date as to when the airway system was phased out. There was no
sweeping change to cause their disappearance. Small incremental changes and advances in
technology made them obsolete.
Today remnants of the system still exist throughout the country, primarily in the west where
development pressures were lower. The airway system pioneered by the Transcontinental is still in
use today, though with a much reduced capacity, in mountainous regions of
The Prince As A Modern Polititcal Treatise
The Prince As A Modern Political Treatise

Written almost 500 years ago by the so called first political scientist in the world, Niccolo
Machiavelli s The Prince brings forward a new definition to virtue. A definition which argues against
the concept brought forward by the Catholic Church. Machiavelli did not impose any thoughts of his
own rather he only wrote from his experience and whatever philosophy that lead to actions which
essentially produced effective outcomes in the political scene of Italy and in other countries. While
he is still criticized for his notions, the truth is that, consciously or subconsciously we are all thinking

Once he became the emperor, he quickly expanded his empire in all fronts resulting in the deaths of
thousands. However after one point he converted to Buddhism and ruled his land with peace till his
death. The philosophy prescribed by Machiavelli is still used by different governments to some
degree. There are laws and rules of conduct which enforces certain behaviors in the society. However
an important distinction to be noted is that while The Prince deals with an autocrat, the world right
now is mostly democratic. It is not about a person ruling the masses, rather one person out of the
masses being selected to serve them. Intimidation and fear are tactics which are obsolete right
now. In case a leader of the country fails to perform according to expectations he will be faced
with consequences. Either someone new will be selected or an election will result with an
opposing party participating. The whole concept of democracy was to shift the power from a
ruler to the mass. People now have a fundamental right to voice their opinions and concerns and it
is part of a healthy democratic system. However this does not mean that one could trample over a
government if someone wanted to. There are laws which everyone has to follow. If we take a
broader perspective, such as taking a 3rd world country where democracy is not strong we see the
same controlling methods prescribed in

1.1.1Schiff Base

The condensation product of primary amines with active carbonyl compounds have resulted in the
formation of Schiff base compound. This has been reported by Hugo Schiff in 1864. Schiff base
compound contain azomethine C≡N with a general formula RHC=N R where R and R are alkyl,
aryl, cyclo alkyl or heterocyclic groups which may be variously substituted. These compounds are
also known as anils, imines or azomethines (Mishra N. et al, 2013). Structurally, a Schiff base is a
nitrogen analogue of an aldehyde or ketone in which the carbonyl group (C=O) has been replaced by
an imine or azomethine group (Figure 1.1) (Abu Dief M.A et al, 2015).

The development of new antibacterial agents with novel and more efficient mechanisms of action is
definitely an urgent medical need. Schiff bases have been pointed to as promising antibacterial
agents (Brodowska K. et al, 2014). With respect to the biological activity and desirable
physicochemical, stereochemical, electrochemical, structural and catalytic properties of Schiff base
metal complexes, their values has attracted significant attention and is also relevant for their
application as tools for the analysis of pharmacological constituents (Ejidike P.I et al, 2015).

Chigurupati S. (2015) reported that considering the increased incidences of severe opportunistic
bacterial infections in immunological deficient patients together with the development of resistance
among pathogenic gram positive and gram negative bacteria, there is a great need in finding new
compounds that may be effective against antibiotic resistant bacteria.
