The Importance Of Piracy In The Music Industry
The music industry has been on the decline ever since new ways to pirate music have become
available. In fact, the Recording Industry Association of America estimates that six percent of the
U.S. gross domestic product is generated by the entertainment industry and that the music industry
contributes significantly to this. Bender and Wang found that a one percent increase in piracy results
in a 0.6 percent decrease in musicsales, which could put major companies out of business. While
the walls of text appear intimidating, the reasoning and explanations proved to be valuable and
precise. Bender and Wang s article emphasizes the importance of not supporting music piracy, but
the dull text loses its intended effect by boring the reader. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) are a
threat to all age groups and can be caused by a multitude of things. In fact, 1.4 million people suffer
from it in the United States alone. These are typically found in car crashes and sports incidents with
concussions and are normally nonlethal, but still damaging. Thankfully for those who do receive a
TBI, music education, which can be anything from listening, singing, producing, or even performing
music, can benefit their recovery. Patrick Bennington establishes many times that music can be
beneficial, but there is a severe lacking as to how it is beneficial. In fact, the main concern of the
article seems to focus on identifying a TBI and understanding if it is acceptable to have someone
who has sustained
Deontological Code Of Ethics Essay
1.Define the term ethics. Ethics is the study of human behavior and the morality of each individual.
2.Define the terms deontology (deontological approach) and teleology (teleological approach).
Deontology: is the act of doing the right thing no matter what the consequences are. For example, if
an individual has a family member that killed someone then, it is his/her duty to go against the
family member to say the truth. Even though it is bad to go against a family member, according to
the deontological approach, it is doing the right thing. This individual is doing the right thing
because he/she is not hiding anything, he/she is being truthful, and he/she is being honest.
Teleology: is the act of doing the right thing depending what the... Show more content on

The goal of this theory is to eliminate suffering amongst everyone. This ethical theory is different
to Kant s ethical theory by the way utilitarianism is more towards the happiness route, while Kant
s theory is more towards following the moral rules. Kant s ethical theory is not about maximizing
happiness or pleasing anyone. This theory is more about acting and doing things the moral way
such as duties that are morally right. 4. Compare rule utilitarianism with act utilitarianism. Rule
utilitarianism is compared to act utilitarianism by the way it promotes happiness. A rule utilitarian
is concerned more with the rule, yet by pleasing people. On the other hand, act utilitarianism is
concerned with individual acts. For example, being honest to an individual will generate
happiness. 5. Contrast a right with a duty and a right with a privilege. A right is a form of
freedom and liberty. This allows people to have rights and to be able to do certain things. On the
other hand, a duty is an act that has to be done. This is not done from an individual perspective it is
done through obligation and respect to the moral
A Comparison Of The Devil And Tom Walker
In this story The devil and Tom Walker , the narrator tells a story he has heard about a local man s
dealings with the devil, which being Tom Walker, and the devil. Tom Walker is a fellow that lives
near a swamp not far from Boston Massachusetts. He lives with his wife, both in misery, always
arguing, and possibly has domestic violence. I throw in domestic violence because quoted from the
short story, Her voice was often heard in wordy warfare with her husband; and his face sometimes
showed signs that their conflicts were not confined to words. basically he being the one to take the
grunt of the relationship.
But one day, he decides to be distant from the neighborhood and decides to take what he calls a
shortcut back to home, but through the swamps. The route he decided to take was very grown, and
had very many animals like tadpoles, snakes. Tom had long been picking his way cautiously through
this treacherous forest, and he was tired, he eventually rested at a old piece of firm ground. Cutting
through the swamps, he comes across the remains of an old Indian fortification ... Show more content

A Rogue Economist Explores The Hidden Side Of Everything...
After reading Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by
Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, it opened my eyes to the most interesting approach to the
world. The book name in itself is an odd and unique title. It defines Steven Levitt s irregular
approach to the world of economics and makes you forget your image of an economist as a crusty
professor worried about fluctuating interest rates , says Publishers Weekly. Steven Levittfocuses his
attention on relevant everyday life situations that truly are world issues. The purpose of writing
Freakonomicsis to make the reader aware and convinced that there is a hidden but obvious side to
everything, if you just dig deep enough. Throughout the book, Levitt and Dubner make it clear
that economics is a set of tools, as opposed to a subject of matter to explore any issue, despite if it
is quite unusual. The authors do not single out a certain group of people, but it strongly appeals to
young adults. The book talks about education, raising children, and buying homes which are all
subjects that apply to young adults lives. The authors portray an attitude that is an objective tone
which appeals to a younger audience because it is seemingly practical and neutral, but also light
hearted and amusing. Freakonomics is meant to be fun and captivating rather than strictly boring
facts and statements, which is why it draws in younger adults as well as older adults too. Overall, I
have found this book to
Tim Hortons Essay
1OUR MOTIVATION Tim Hortons has been a symbol of Canada and an important memory for
Canadians. We can understand what an important role Tim Hortons plays by following
evidences. Ten cups of coffee sold in Canada, nearly eight cups are from Tim Hortons. And each
year, Tim Hortons serves 2billion cups of coffee. Moreover, there are 15% of Canadians, which is
more than 5.3 million people, visiting Tim Hortons every day. But Taiwanese are unfamiliar with
this famous brand including us, so we are interested about this successful Canadian corporation and
how it went global. 2INTRODUCTION OF TIM HORTONS Tim Hortons chain was founded in

Considering the products they provided, Dunkin Donuts was the toughest and the only rival for
Tim Hortons. Since the market was not yet fully saturated, Tim Hortons did not have to compete
with the other food service which provided different category of foods. Despite the fact that Tim
Hortons was a late mover in the US market, it was reasonable that Tim Hortons believed that with
the leading position in Canada, it could expand its business to the US. 4.4ENTRY MODE With
Ron Joyce s strategy, Tim Hortons expanded quickly in both geography and product selection. In
1981, it already had successfully opened almost 150 outlets in Canada, and became the leading
chain in Canada. It even resulted in the major changes to the coffee and donut restaurant market in
Canada. Tim Hortons thus confidently believed that the expanding strategy could fit well even in
the US market, where the geographical distance was close and the culture seemed to be quite
similar to that of Canada. Moreover, most of the popular food service at that time entered a foreign
market, especially from the US to Canada, with a wholly owned subsidiary. Especially when Dunkin
donuts and Mister Donuts brought in the donut culture successfully and McDonald even became one
of the leading food service in Canada. Entry TimeEntry Mode A W1956Wholly owned Subsidiary

social media for their community manager, and it has to reflect the value, objective, and mission of

firm to have more opportunities of internal communication among all employees in the organization.
Manco Abbott should encourage weekly meetings between community managers and assistants to
find solutions to solve tenant s issues in accordance to social media. The firm should strictly
schedule routine meetings for representatives from different departments to discuss and solve the

Analyzing How Big Data Analytics Is Used For Today s Data...
troduction
Every day, we produce 2.5 quintillion bytes of data. 90% of all data in the world was produced in
the past two years. Data has been around forever; we have always gathered information.
Paleolithic cavemen recorded their activities by carving them in stone or notching them in sticks.
Egyptians used hieroglyphics to record significant events in history. The Library of Alexandria
was home to half a million scrolls of the ancient world. Less than hundred years ago, we used
punch cards to record and store information. As technology continues to evolve, the amount of
data we store continues to grow. We ve come a long way since stone tablets, scrolls, and punch
cards. It s important to understand the concept of big data and the impact is has created. This
paper will define the classifications of data, explain the challenges of big data, and describe how big
data analytics is being used in today s data driven world.
Classifying Data
Data can be classified into three distinct categories: structured, unstructured, and semi structured. It is
important to understand these classifications and the challenges they present.
Structured data follows a specific pattern of organization and is easy to access, manage, and store. It
fits nicely into rows and columns of traditional database management systems.
Unstructured data is unorganized; it follows no specific pattern or order.
It does not fit into rows and columns and cannot be easily accessed, processed or searched. This type
Extraterrestrials Exist Essay
For as long as I can remember, the ET phenomena has mystified and taken the public and mainstream
scientific community by storm. The ET myth has caused more mass hysteria than the Big Foot
myth. To unravel the mystery of extraterrestrials would contradict life as we know it. Is there
sufficient evidence to prove the claim that extraterrestrials exist? I personally think the notion of
extraterrestrial beings somewhere in the Universe, let alone on Earth, is far fetched. In my SEARCH
of this claim, I did not uncover any evidence that would convince me unequivocally that
extraterrestrials exist. This claim of extraterrestrial lifeis unfounded and the evidence at best is
anecdotal. This claim is not an argument; it is a statement because it does not have a premise or
conclusion. According to the book, How to Think about Weird Things, The minimum requirement
for an argument is one premise and a conclusion. (Vaughn) This claim is an example of the fallacy,
Appeal to Ignorance, which says a claim can t be stated as true just because it hasn t been proven
false (Vaughn). This claim is not based on empirical evidence but on psychological appeal and/or
propaganda. This argument can also fall under the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am unable to move forward with the E , which is to Examine the evidence because there isn t any.
This claim speaks to extensive evidence, but offers none to support the claim; so without sufficient
evidence it is impossible to SEARCH. To be taken seriously, there should have been some physical or
empirical evidence noted within this statement to be scrutinized. After all, extraordinary claims,
require extraordinary evidence.

The Effects Of Playing Games On The Classroom Essay
When I was a teenager, I loved playing games and it was the common interest I shared with my
friends. Yet our interest and enjoyment in gameplay did not always give us pleasant experiences.
Playing games were considered to be waste of times and looked down upon by parents, school
teachers, or even other students. When the events of gamerelated social problems occurred, we had
to overcome severe criticisms from the others. For example, in my middle school, one teacher
criticized students for playing games and blamed them for dropping the average score of the class
when my class ranked last in final exam. Some of the students questioned the logics for his regular
derogation for the game. Rather than educative response or constructive conversation, they were
confronted with the call to the teacher s office and punishment of an apology letter after school. I
was one of the students who had to write ten pages of apology letter. When I finally finished and
went back home, I had a serious conversation with the parents about my friends and our interests in
games. Even though playing games was my favorite activity, it was also a big cause of problems in
my childhood. The fact that my mother does not know to this day that I was a Star Craft
representative of my middle school senior class for the student association tournament.
