Analysis Of Where The Wild Things Are By Maurice Sendak
Where the Wild Things Are is an illustrated story by Maurice Sendak intended for children. This
story clearly narrate the targeted audience the children the story of Max, a disobedient boy who
ran away from home after being scolded vehemently by his mother. Due to Max s reckless
behavior, his mother furiously sent him to bed without eating anything (Sendak 8). After living
together with the scary monsters in a place called Where the Wild Things Are, Max decided to
return home since he could not find an ultimate happiness. The moment he wanted to return to his
home, he smelled his mother s delicious cooking. The irresistible smell of his mother s cooking
has somehow amplified his desire to come home, leaving his monstrous friends behind. When he
reached home, his mother has prepared a lovely supper for him. After I finished reading the
whole story of Where the Wild Things Are , I reflected myself and realized how related this story
is with my recent life as a Muslim. I managed to recognize tons of relationship in terms of
similarities and differences between me, as a Muslim, and Max, the main character in Where the
Wild Things Are prohibition from eating and drinking, leaving bad habits and practicing good deeds,
and the presence of the wild things. The ninth month of Islamic calendar the holy month of
Ramadhan has just ended. During Ramadhan, all Muslims around the world were obligated to fast.
For the total of 30 days, Muslims were prohibited from eating
Bill Beichick Persuasive Speech
At several points throughout someone s life, it is guaranteed that accusations will be made against
them. Some may be true, others may be false, but when they are made it is up to the accused to
prove themselves innocent. Within the past ten years, former Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich,
and Head Coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick faced adversity which came along with
accusations made against them. With the use of ethos, pathos, and logos, otherwise known as the
three rhetorical appeals, both gentlemen attempted to persuade others to believe in their innocence.
After reading both situations it is evident that by using his credibility, being very informative to his
discourse community, and sharing intellectual and emotional experience, Bill Belichick was far
more successful in accomplishing his persuasive purpose.
The ethos appeal is the author s persuasive power to use credibility in a rhetorical situation. Within
his press conference, Rob Blagojevich s tone in addressing the topic at hand suggests to the
audience that he is strong and confident in his words. By saying, I m not going to quit a job the
people hired me to do because of false accusations and a political lynch mob (Blagojevich 1), he
attempts to gain credibility by remaining firm and reminding the people of Illinois that they are the
ones who voted for him to be governor. He is implying that since they trusted him enough to elect
him as the representative of their state, they should have the
Application Of Writing For Writing
In regards to writing I have always struggled to meet all of the requirements for a perfect paper that
includes a well organized text filled with rich analytical sentences. In the beginning of the semester I
constantly worried about the structure of my writing and its overall material. In high school it was
important for me to complete my essays by answering the questions that I was given, but in college,
students go more into depth. College students are required to focus on grammar, and well structured
ideas that flow along with rich analytical content. After I was given my first assignment I was
pressured to improve my overall work by focusing on structure and developing analytical content.
Assignments such as the weekly readings and writingassignments helped me improve my overall
work. Through the narrative essay, artist research essay and Storify project I focused on many
aspects that improved my writing. For all of my assignments it was useful to use techniques, such as,
reading out loud to revise the structure of my work and going into depth with description.
My first English assignment was to read the essays from the 50 Essays book, and reflect on these
essays by focusing on their main idea. These weekly readings slowly taught me how to analyze the
structure of different essays. Through the journal essay assignments I came across to a particular
essay that grabbed my attention. The essay, Why Bother By Michael Pollan, allows the reader to be
moved by his written
Essay on Singapore
How might the Singapore society differ were it not for these technologies would the society be
more or less heavily regulated? Lee recommends analysing politics and society by addressing how
power struggles and relations were played out in the pre Internet era, namely the maintenance of
political control via public support (2005: 74). Foucault defines governmentality as the point of
contact where the technologies of power interact with the governed. This spurs Lee to postulate that,
in order to retain power in the Internet era, governments need to be actively involved in shaping the
design as well as the societal, cultural and regulatory environment in which the Internet and other
new media technologies operate (2005: 75). One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are examples of society being shaped by government via technology, but Castells maintains
that society shapes technology according to its needs and desires, not vice versa (2005: 3).
However, Singapore is a society that has a history of being heavily influenced by government
policy. As such, there is less resistance to technologically governed control, which supports the
idea that the relationship between society and technology is a co constituted one. Singaporean
society in the context of ICT is perhaps unique because it is different from other countries that
readily adopted and promoted similar technologies. Ragnedda believes that new digitalized
surveillance allowed a new form of social control that tries to direct and influence the behaviour
of people , but the technologies themselves are merely tools (2011: 180). As Lee affirms,
Singapore considered itself as having a legitimate right to influence and manage the citizenry
(2005: 79). Therefore, it is little surprise the Singapore government has considerable surveillance
capabilities and does not require a court warrant for monitoring (O Hara, 2008: 15). Lee asserts
that the relatively low level of online public engagement in politics is a product of the PAP s
intolerance for political dissent (2005: 78). In many respects, society itself has not changed,
Why Soccer Is the Best Sport Essay
L.A. essay
Why soccer is the best sport
By: Omar
Soccer is the most played sport worldwide, many people love it and I m one of them, it is my
favorite sport because you can improve your skills with your feet, and get a lot of exercise. By
writing this essay, I hope that I can provide more information about the sport and maybe convert the
people who dislike the sport into fans.
I have heard from some people that soccer is a boring sport, but the truth is, it s a very interesting
sport with a lot of excitement in it. When playing soccer, ball control is critical, you need
possession of the ball in order to keep it away from the other team players, and at times, it can be
fun because if you have possession of the ball most of the game, ... Show more content on

If you play soccer, you have to practice in order to win, just like any other sport. When playing a
game, you need to do moves that you have practiced, to get past the other teams defense and score
a goal, and you also have to teach yourself mentally to think before you react. If you have the ball,
you can t just kick it randomly and hope to score, you have to think of your other teammates and
work with them to get the ball up the field. Another part of soccer that is very critical is passing.
You have to pass the ball and develop new techniques and ways to control how the game is played.
The last part is that you need to be fit in order to play soccer, because you are constantly on the
field, and you don t get a lot of breaks, because the game never really stops except for halftime and
when a foul is called or if you are waiting for the ball to come. When you re on defense, and playing
a good team, you can be running around a ton, and you get tired really easily, especially when
someone is on a breakaway, you will have to sprint down the field to try to stop them. If you play
soccer a lot over a long time, you will develop good leg strength. Exercise is critical to the human
body, and you will get a whole bunch of it by playing soccer. I hope this essay encourages parents to
in role their kids to play soccer because it s an amazing
Prevent Alzheimer s Research Paper
Prevent Alzheimer s
Of particular interest to seniors, is how they can prevent neurological disorders, like dementia and
Alzheimer s, and possibly reverse the damage. Alzheimer s develops when a type of plaque forms in
the brain, which will eventually lead to damage of the neurons in the brain.
Tea can reduce the risk of Alzheimer s by preventing the formation of these plaques and breaking
down existing plaque formation. Tea can repair the damage by creating new neurons in the area of
the brain that is responsible for memory.
A Calm Energy
Tea gets its health benefits from the potent antioxidants that tea contains. These antioxidants have
anti inflammatory properties that can prevent or reduce the risk of many types of health issues.
Airthread Connections
Valuation of AirThread Connections
1. Methodological Approach to the Valuation
a) WACC (Weighted Average Cost of Capital) When we are supposed to value AirThread
Connections with the WACC valuation method we will have to use the following steps: * Determine
the unlevered free cash flows of the investment. * Compute the weighted average cost of capital with
the following formula:
* Compute the value with leverage, VL, by discounting the free cash flows of the investment using
the WACC.
APV (Adjusted Present Value) This method involves determining the value of a levered investment
using the following steps: * Determine the investment s value without leverage, VU, by discounting
its free cash flows at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To do this we had to calculate the reinvestment rate w/o synergies and the return on capital (RoC).
1. Reinvestment Rate (2012): * (CAPEX + Working Capital Depreciations amp; Amortizations)
/NOPAT * 2. Return on Capital: * Income before minority interest/(Equity + Long term debt
Minority interest) * 3. Long term growth rate: * * Using this growth rate we calculated a terminal
value of $6782.88 and a PV(terminal value) of $4698.39: * *
b) The present value of AirThread s going concern value is $7956.85. We calculated this number
using the following setup: PV of Terminal Value +PV of Unlevered Free Cash Flow+PV of Interest
Tax Shield + Value of Non Operating Assets =Going Concern Value
4. Valuation of AirThread
a) We calculated the total value of AirThread (before considering any synergies) by subtracting the
value of the non operating assets from the going concern value. This gave us a total value of
$6237.85.
b) When assuming that Ms. Zhang s estimates for synergies are accurate we can compute a new
unlevered free cash flow looking like this: Unlevered Net Income| 337,1 | 447,0 | 582,2 | 760,6 |
902,8 | Plus: Depreciation amp; Amortization| 705,2 | 804,0 | 867,4 | 922,4 | 952,7 | Less: Capital
Expenditure| 631,3 | 719,7 | 867,4 | 970,1 | 1 055,0 | Less: Increase in
