History of the Euro Essay
History of the Euro

After the long awaited single currency implementation known as the euro, there have been many
ups and downs to this monetary system. Many have been quick to criticize while others still praise
its value claiming it will soon be valued strongly against the dollar. Our paper looks into the various
aspects of the euro and the progress it has made since its initiation. We begin with a brief history of
the euro then move on by raising some questions concerning the effects of the euro on various
economic aspects such as competition and global financial institutions. We then provide insight to the
various strengths and weaknesses of the euro and the implications this currency has on various
institutions such as banks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Average was a good thing to them. If there was too much departure from the average, it was looked
on as bad. If the community average were 5 percent inflation, then a country with either 0 percent
inflation or 10 percent inflation would cause strains in the system. All this economic coordination
took place through a country s exchange rate, and was compared to the Europeans Currency Unit
(ECU) fixed rate. The EMS continued its ways for fourteen years. In May of 1993 in Denmark, the
Maastricht Treaty was finally approved. The treaty set out three stages of further transition to
monetary union between participant countries of the European Community.

Stage 1
Involved the elimination of all restrictions on the movement of capital between Member States, and
between Member States and third countries. This was supposed to have been completed by January
1, 1994. This goal was never accomplished. They were, however, on their way to forming a
monetary union.

Stage 2
The second stage began on Jan. 1, 1994, with the creation of the European Monetary Institute (EMI)
in Frankfurt, Germany. The EMI was a precursor to a proposed European Central Bank (ECB),
which controlled the implementation of a common European monetary policy, conducts foreign
exchange operations, holds reserves of member countries, and promotes smooth payment
mechanisms. The EMI also holds the gold and foreign exchange reserves, oversees the
VELIB, PARIS Essay
1. Introduction
Nowadays, transportation in urban area is highly complex as it involved various modes of
transportation, locations of the origins and destination and also the population of that particular
urban area. The focus of urban transport has been more on passengers as many major cities were
viewed as locations of utmost human interactions. Mostly, they move from one place to other place
for the purpose of commuting, commercial transactions, leisure or for cultural activities. Beside,
urban passenger transport system is one of the medium helping to have better quality of life for
every living community. It provides personal mobility and freedom for people to walk, use para
transit vehicle or use other non motorized transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, as with every innovation, it will take to adapt and I have to emphasis that the rules must
be respected where necessary to ensure the safety of everyone, especially the most vuinerable among
us, pedestrians and cyclist!
Bertrand Delanoe, Mayor of Paris.
(Quoted shortly after the inauguration of the Vélib system, July 2007.)

According to his inauguration, the Vélib system appoints the need of both personalized and
mobility and low carbon solutions for urban transport passenger system. The main modal for this
system is to provide low environments that reduce the impact of mobility service for large cities
and urban centers. For this application, Vélib use Cyclocity as the basic ideas to be user friendly as
possible.

The main components of the system are the bike, the stations where they are attached and the
software that can track the bikes journey and the rental time of each journey made. One of the
common rationales cited by bike programs is that they provide an effective substitute for at least
some of the large numbers of short distance trips made by cars in urban areas, often with only one
person in the car. Such trips make poor use of scarce public resources, and of course carry with them
a heavy environmental burden.

If many passengers tend to use private vehicle, this objective cannot be achieved. However Paris has
been established as one of the country that

McDonaldization in Modern Culture Essay
Today s society and culture is becoming more and more McDonaldized. This paper will illustrate
what the process of McDonaldization is. In addition, this paper will show how today s society has
adapted to this process along with using the theories from Max Weber. The McDonaldization theory
defines the process of which the principles of the fast food restaurant are coming to dominate more
and more sectors of American society as well as the rest of the world (Ritzer 1). Within
McDonaldizationthere are five different concepts embedded into this theory, which are efficiency,
calculability, predictability, control and lastly irrationality of rationality. These concepts are not just
used in fast food restaurants, but are becoming more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calculability expects the customer or worker to do a lot of work, very quickly for low pay
(Ritzer 14). Predictability is the third dimension. Predictability is the idea of uniformity and
knowing what to expect with each outcome (Aldredge, Lectures on McDonaldization of Society).
With having uniformity in a business or process, this allows the customer or even an employee
feel at ease and goes about what is expected of them. Ritzer gives the example of shopping malls.
A person can step off the plane in Portland or Denver and find the same type of stores in a mall
(Ritzer 107). Another dimension of McDonaldization is control. Control is the increased of
nonhuman technology to produce more product or efficiency (Ritzer 115). More and more
nonhuman technology is appearing to control how fast a human can go. In a drive thru line, the fast
food establishment is controlling how long a vehicle can be in line. A driver pulls up to order food,
then drives up to pay for the food, picks up the food at the next window, and lastly drives off to the
next destination (Ritzer 125). The last element of McDonaldization is the irrationality of rationality.
Any rational system will eventually spawn irrationalities that compromise or even undermine their
rationality (Ritzer 141). Consumers who try to be efficient are not necessarily saving money or time.
A consumer assumes that driving to a fast food
Sex Addiction
Topic Paper #2: Can Someone Be Addicted to Sex via the Web? An addict craves his or her vice
of choice for a number of reasons. For some, the trials and tribulations of day to day life cause
people to use out of frustration, and others seem to become addicted to things that they
subliminally tie to other forms of satisfaction. It has been proven that our genetic make up as well
as things we experience early in childhood both contribute to a wide variety of the mannerisms we
showcase, and the activities we are prone to taking part in. For example, if an individual is exposed
to pornography at an early age, it would be easy to establish the foundation for a potential addiction.
By using online resources for sexual fulfillment, people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the light of all the reasons supporting that web based sex addiction should be considered a
legitimate dependence, there are several differences between the two. One can base their
thoughts on how the dependencies vary, or push that it is different, lacking adequate support
scientifically as opposed to the numerous drug graphs and statistics society s made a daunting
reminder of how harmful they are to the public that children are introduced to at a young age. It
was mentioned earlier that some children are born at a genetic disposition to possess addictive
behaviors. It isn t known if children can be prone to becoming sexually addicted via the web,
specifically: as if to suggest that those addicted to web based sexual activity prefer it over drugs.
Perhaps, if the computer is relied on for sexual needs in impressionable times, the habit can be
hard to break. Where drugs, alcohol, and tobacco cause physical and mental trauma, it appears
web based sex addiction mainly affects the brain. Since this specific addiction hasn t been
relevant until the last 10 15 years, research on long term side effects are unavailable. In other
words, long term drawbacks are shrouded in mystery. Has anybody ever died from this addiction?
If there are not physical side effects with withdrawal, how could it be compared to a substance
addiction to drugs like cocaine or heroin? These are among many questions surrounding this
perplexing topic of discussion. It should also be
Essay On Puritan Theology
Puritan Theology
Puritans always had very strict beliefs.Among these beliefs the puritans thought sin should not be
expressed and a sinner should be shamed, hell is the single most terrifying thing so they instilled
fear to get people to convert, and they are the city on a hill so they should lead by example and be
the best. In the sermons Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, A Model of Christian Charity, and a
Sermon Preached by Samson Occom the authors talk about some of these puritan beliefs.
Puritans thought of themselves as the elect . The elect is a group of people who were predestined
to be saved by God. John Winthrop knows that the puritans believe that and plays it to his advantage.
He uses this quote to prove to the puritans they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He directly states the eyes of all people are upon us. Thus giving the puritans validation. He say this
to win the over and get them to see his side by telling something they already believe. He used the
puritan theology to prove his point. Another major aspect of puritan theology is the fear they
instilled into the public. They always made hell seem so atrocious (as they should have). They did
this to get people to convert to their religion. Edwards plays with idea, almost like Winthrop did, to
establish fear to get the puritans to confess and be saved. One quote that really stood out was,
The wrath of God burns against them; their damnation does not slumber; the pit is prepared; the
fire is made ready; the furnace is now hot; ready to receive them; the flames do now rage and glow.
The glittering sword is whet and held over them, and the pit hath opened her mouth under them. The
devil stands ready to fall upon them, and seize them as his own (Edwards
The Moral Issue Of Euthanasia
1. For this assignment I chose the moral issue of Euthanasia. The case study is about a 20 year
old woman dying of ovarian cancer and decides to be euthanized. I feel that this case was
extremely relevant, especially with the rise of trend in today s society. Euthanasia is currently a
very popular thing that is continuing to grow in other states as congress decides whether or not to
make it legal or refuse to pass it and keep it as illegal. I feel that by looking at this case study I hope
to determine whether or not Euthanasiais ethical or moral and the circumstances that would inhibit
Euthanasia from being ethical or the circumstances that would make it ethical. I will first discuss
the case and discuss the background information on the case, after this I will look at the case
through an ethical lens and identify all the possibly moral and ethical issues involved with the
case. I will reach my own conclusion on the case and determine, in my own opinion, on whether
or not I believe the case is moral/ethical. I will also give evidence for my beliefs and how I
reached the opinion and final decision that I hope to reach by the end of this paper. Finally, I will
discuss the Bible and any specific cases that it discusses the moral issue of euthanasia involved
with this specific and delicate case. After approaching it biblically with what the Bible says, I hope
to be able to infer completely whether or not this case can be successfully judged as morally right or
wrong, as
Up To 1775 Essay
Economics Up to 1775* Cultivation of Tobacco was the basis of America s early economy;
shortly after, later economy weaved and meshed with the British Empire s on heavily voluminous
levels, and their relationship was strongly based on various Acts placed upon the Colonies. After
acquiring seeds from Trinidadian colonies, John Rolfe s plantation of the tobacco plant caused the
first real economic presence by selling them to European countries. The Tobacco plant was the
first true cash crop of America, imports from their mother country England were reaching to about
half a million pounds per year. The Navigation Acts of 1651 prohibited any foreign ships, with an
emphasis on the Dutch, into British Colonies in relation to trade. The British Kingdom believed
that for America to be a stable country, their exports should outnumber their imports. The Kingdom
was just recovering from a brutal recession, and they were determined to make sure that their
rivals, the Dutch, be absent of a trading relation with the Colonies. The Molasses Act of 1733 was
one of the first Acts that ironically brought in a boom of smuggling into the colonies. It issued that
any molasses imported from any country other than the British Colonies would have a six pence
per gallon tax placed upon it. This act was created mainly due to the urging of large plantation
owners in the British West Indies. The Currency Act of 1751 blocked the production of paper
money by New England colonies. This was to
Coming Of Age Essay
For our short film, we were given the title The Day They Met and the genre Coming of Age .
During the first pre production meeting, my group responded to the brief by sharing ideas, looking
at what the genre and title mean and how we can interlink the two. Coming of age is a challenging
genre to do for a short filmas often the films with this genre cover a wide time span with strong
character development. As a group, we discussed how we could do this in such a short amount of
time. We collaboratively shared ideas and came up with a story of a girl dealing with grief, with
the acceptance of her loss as her coming of age . We discussed how we wanted our film to touch
upon the emotions of grief, but also capture the beauty of love after death... Show more content on

We kept the narrative of film (the poem) a working piece which delayed our pre production
because we were constantly adapting and changing the direction we wanted to go in. I think that
we should have made a production schedule, which laid out when the poem had to be finished,
then the script and storyboard so that when it came to production we weren t doing the pre
production work alongside shooting. During the actual script writing process I did not have the
main role in producing the script however I did research into industry scripts to help us as a
guidance. I feel this made me develop in my knowledge of how to use the correct terminology in

increased chance of chromosome abnormalities like down syndrome.

Varicocele (Veins around testicles in the scrotum): A swelling of the veins that drain the testicles.
The most common reversible cause of infertility in men. The exact reason for Varicocele is unknown,
one cause may be the abnormal testicular temperature regulation. Varicocele reduces the quality of
the sperm.
Infection: Infections can interfere with the production of sperm and the sperm health. These
infections include inflammation of the epididymis or testicle, as well as some sexually transmitted
diseases. Some infections can cause permanent testicular damage however in most cases sperm can

Climate Change And Invasive Alien Species
Climate Change and Invasive Alien Species (IAS) Climate change and invasive alien species are
starting to become a very big problem. It is allowing invasive animals to migrate historical
geographic barriers. This is a big problem because it affects the environment, economy, and the
society in a negative way. The relationship between climate change and IAS is the warming climate
is allowing species that were unable to live in an environment due physiological can now colonize
and thrive in these once forbidden environments. (I.E Southern animals who can only live in hot
temperatures are now migrating north where the temperature is rising up every year) This example
is becoming more common throughout the world because of climate change. Also, IAS influences
the rate, magnitude, and impact of climate change. There are even federal documents acknowledging
that climate change is encouraging IAS. Firstly, a large number of environments are changing for the
worst. These changes are happening in our own country. The southern animals are coming up north
to Canada and competing against our native animals. This is directly caused by global warming
which is allowing the warmer climate animals take over the once cold climate. Furthermore, the
many plants are blooming as far as a month earlier due to climate change. For example, Purple
loosestrife is blooming 24 days earlier which poses an extreme threat to wetland habitants, especially
the ones having a hard time adapting. Longer
