Anne Valwood Angel Poetic Techniques
Words to Live By There are many quotes that have deep meanings to me, so it is difficult for me
to pick just one to write about. The difficulty in finding [a] quote(s) is that almost nobody is going
to feel and/or understand the way you interpret a quote. Quotes have different meanings to
everyone, and for some, a quote is not something that can explained, but something a person must
feel. I guess since I have to choose I would choose the lyrics to Angel by Theory of a Deadman.
The lyrics to Angel include the line, Her halo is broken, but there s fight in her eyes. This quote
has a deep meaning to me because it signifies not only myself but also, how the struggles I have
been through have shaped my personality and made me who I am today.... Show more content on

Some people say the song is a ballad about a man who s in love with an angel but realizes that he
eventually has to let her go; while others interpret the song as being about a man who falls in love
with a girl but the girl has gone through a tough time and ends up killing herself, thus becoming an
angel. As someone who has gone through an insane amount of tough experiences in her life from
being bullied from the time she started school at Lanier County until she moved to Valwood this
song has a meaning to me that cannot simply be expressed in words. The quote is more than just
the lyrics of a song. The words are an encouragement, and they are meaningful. They inspire me to
remember that even when I get knocked down I need to get back up and be ready to fight. This
quote is not simply something that can be expressed in words because it conveys an emotional
feeling that is significant to me. The quote I chose is meaningful to me because it is about
someone who has been beaten down in ways others may not be able to comprehend, but she
prevails above all odds and is stronger and wiser for what she went
Essay about Jimmy Carter and Political Maxim
Hardball by Chris Matthews: Quotes Hardball by Chris Matthews is an interpretation of what
many know as hard politics . The book describes the skill of playing the game in Washington and
how to be successful at it. The book is a guide that teaches a series of maxims that would be in
favor of politicians to learn in order to be successful. The different tactics provided in the book
hold a lot of knowledge that would make the life of anyone following these strategies much easier
when trying to get ahead in life. Matthews describes a countless number of examples of successful
politicians that rose to the top. Those politicians are the ones who learned how to play hardball in
Washington. Matthews provides many of his observations over... Show more content on

Carter played this strategy to a tee. Carter knew that his best line of defense would come from
those who had lost their elections and were looking for a job. The quote symbolizes the tactic
Carter used and how his intelligence allowed him to take advantage of the situation. He knew that
those individuals faced a tough race and when they lost, they would become his support because
people like to be used and not ignored. Another quotes that is related to the it s better to give then
to receive, maxim is a quote I found to be very witty. The quotes states, I ve lived across the street
from you for 18 years ... I shoveled your walk in winter. I cut your grass in summer... I didn t think
I had to ask you for your vote. He never forgot her response. Tom, I want you to know something:
people like to be asked. The lady knew Tip O Neil and all he had done for her over the years, but
out of respect she found that all he needed to do was ask. She wanted to make sure she was
considered and thought about, so she wouldn t be taken for granted. The main point from this quote
is that people don t mind being used, but they do mind being taken for granted. It s important to
know that asking favors only brings in more supporters. People want to invest in others and are often
not critical of that person because they also
The Jungle Corruption
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair details the life of a Lithuanian immigrant named Jurgis, in the late
1800 s. In the novel, Jurgis and his family immigrate to America in order to find prosperity and
follow the American Dream . However, upon reaching reaching America, they face many trials and
tribulations. Foremost, no one in the family is able to speak English, as well as being poor
immigrants that are easily taken advantage of by society. Initially, Jurgis tries to keep his head up
and tries through his own work to succeed, but as the events of the novel unfold, we see him tore
down and corrupted. The moral corruption of Jurgis can be seen as a reflection of the environment in
which he lived. In the end, Jurgis believed that the capitalistic society that he lived in was against the
common man. The Jungleillustrates how greed and unchecked capitalism can have devastating
effects on people. Capitalism fosters greed that when left unchecked can push people to their
moral and physical limits in order to make a profit from others. This led to many people entering a
cycle where they could not leave the factories and cities because they had no way to support
themselves besides working in terrible conditions. This is illustrated in real life instances and in The
Jungle. Many Americans feared that the great industrialists were reducing freemen to wage slaves
(Rise of Unions). This quote exemplifies that even though the workers of the factories were not
slaves they were
The Advice For A High Level Of Advice
These are some of the cautions that were revealed through this assessment for me: The advice
characteristics shows a desire to seek considerable amounts of advice. This was a known for me
and it was born out of a need to do things right without error, and trying to make sure that I do not
fail. I have learned that when trying to succeed and accomplish goals, there will be times of
failure. This is the way that people learn and improve. If you are in a position, where you can get
feedback to help you realize your mistakes. Feedback is also important in that regard to
incorporate counsel, so that proper corrections can be made. The concern with a person that
operate with the need of a high level of advice is the individual will delay making decisions. This
is ok for some situations, but sometimes a decision with have to be made right away. I realize
with this being one of my methods of operation, I will have to practice making decisions on the
fly, in order to become more comfortable making decisions without being advised. I will learn to
use this as a strength, by staying up on what current in my field, therefore I will be confident in my
own decisions. The second caution that was revealed from the assessment is the process creativity,
which said that I prefer to stick to standard rules and practices, when implementing solutions to
problems rather than shifting processes to achieve solutions. This is accurate, but the other side is I
do like to follow a plan that is already
Informative Study Of Gender Roles In Children
A very informative article on the study of the gender roles children feel stressed to conform to. The
article provides insights in how children interpret each other s masculine and feminine behaviors.
When children are informed of how each gender feels the same, it relieves the pressure, thereby
allowing the children to be more at ease with one another and exhibit their true behaviors. The
stereotype of genderroles produces health risks such as eating disorders and low level bullying.
A very surprising article on at home mothers and full time working moms that seem to be pitted
against each other instead of banding together for support. The article paints working moms as
frazzled, exhausted, and neglectful all the while the stay at home

This paper looks at the movie; A Dangerous Method directed by David Cronenberge is based on true
life events that happened on the eve of the World War 1. This movie brings out the theories,
techniques, and the central characters in the early history of psychoanalysis. It brings out the
effectiveness of psychoanalysis method and shows the risks and dangers encountered when entering
the unconscious mind. This movie takes a look at these through the life of Carl Jung who was one of
the founding fathers of psychoanalysis. It also takes a glimpse into the turbulent relationship

Jung and Dr. Feud start having a father son relationship. Dr. Feud hopes that Dr. Jung will be his
successor but a deep rift develops when Dr. Jung moves away from Dr. Feud s belief that even
though psychoanalysis can reveal the cause of psychological problems, it cannot cure a patient. He
was also willing to go beyond Freud s concept psychic determinism and sexuality, and bring ideas that
include religion, premonitions, supernatural, and telepathy.
This movie brings out some interesting facts about psychoanalysis. Doctors in this field are different
from others because they attempt to have rationale on the irrationality of emotions. The main aim is
to analyze why behaviors deviate from the normal norm. This film shows a main idea of clinical
psychology. People can go through profound amount of suffering which from outside sources or self
imposed. This movie successfully brings out the depth of emotional suffering that one can go
through and brings out therapy in action. Cronenberg brings out the extent of sufferings that a
patient goes through. Sabina s behavior is seen moving from relative calmness into a violent
behavior. Her eyes are seen poping out of her head, her limbs convulse, and her jaw spasms in a non
human way. Her mind tortures her in a way that this manifests physically. Dr. Jung uses his treatment
talking cure to help Sabina find out the source of her hysteria. This treatment helps her answer the
question why her mind is torturing
Essay about The Most Difficult Anniversary
A week had passed since the ten year anniversary of mom s death and again I found myself staring
out the window at the gloominess. Okay, so it s just my reflection in the glass. It was a brilliant
Sunday morning with an endless blue sky. The buildings, the Hudson, everything had a winter
crispness to it. I wish I could enjoy it, but I can t get comfortable here, can t concentrate. Can t
write. Even fifteen stories up, I felt the constant undercurrent of activity. The silent hum of a city
that sometimes moves too fast for its own good, my own good. Two ice cubes and two fingers of
Macallan sat at the bottom of a silver rimmed Madison Avenue whiskey glass. Sunday and our pre
church routine is underway. Sarah thought it would be good... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Adorned in a black turtleneck and gray slacks, she offered me a perfunctory smile as she grabs
her coat off the rack. She s a no nonsense New Yorker who never met a problem she couldn t solve.
Besides me, anyways. She s also sharp with the tongue when someone needs to be put in their
place. Guilty as charged. But she s genuine and honest, and has a smile that lights up a room, and
I m pretty sure I don t deserve her. She also enjoys taking off her clothes around me. Or did.
Before our problems started. My problems. We met at a writer s conference in Atlanta in. She was
there gathering manuscripts, looking for that undiscovered gem; I was there to put Parade of
Echoes in the hands of as many editors as possible. I assumed she was just another aspiring author
as I sauntered up next to her at the bar. She had the sexy librarian look, wire rimmed glasses and
yellow number 2 pencil through the hair bun. Four hefty manuscripts cradled in her left arm and
three flash drives hung from her neck. When I saw her take her seat behind the Barnett
Publishing table, I couldn t take my eyes off her. I wanted to pull that pencil out. As the evening
wound down, I convinced her to have a nightcap with me. There was a manuscript to discuss, and
such. I owed a great deal of my success to her. Yes, I wrote Parade of Echoes after hearing Albert
Bolton s story, but Sarah loved my version and believed in it enough to bypass the slush pile and
put it on the desk of her boss and
Water Fowl Hunting Research Paper
Across the United States of America, water fowl hunting is one of the most popular hunting sports
that occurs every year during the autumn and winter seasons. Hunters spread out over wide range of
areas across the United States to take a shot at geese, ducks, and other well known game birds. Water
fowl huntingcan be done in crop fields or on a river. When a shot goes up over half the shots taken
pellets are falling towards a field or wet land area. Concerns have been made and laws and
regulations against Lead Shots are being adjusted. The new laws and regulations are requiring water
fowl hunters who use traditional lead shot ammunition are now to use steel shots when water fowl
hunting. (White)
Lead Ammunition has been the traditional form of ammunition for over many decades now. Many
hunters have been using lead ammunition since the early 1960 s. Ammunition manufactures started
creating shot gun shells that are made of red plastic and contain over a minimum of twenty or
more lead pellets in each shell. Some shells very in different sizes and contain different amounts of
lead pellets for different hunting uses. These shells were made to have a high killing power when
hunting waterfowl. Such a tiny lead pellet has become a very big ... Show more content on

Steel shot ammunition pellets weigh less than a steel pellet does. They have a less kill power than
a lead pellet. They come in the same shot gun shells as lead does but they have more pellets inside
giving them a stronger force. Just like the lead pellet shells they vary in different shell sizes for
different hunting uses. Steel shells give a cleaner shot that will help the game bird bleed more freely
without getting the pellet stuck inside its body. The most important part about this substitution is the
steel pellets are eliminating lead poisoning from
Evaluate the Effectiveness of Lay People in the Courts
Throughout this section of my assignment I will evaluate the effectiveness of Lay people within the
courts. Throughout the United Kingdom Lay Magistrates are used within our courts and legal
system in relation to sentencing criminals. They work within the Magistrates court dealing with
summary offences, triable either way offences and they also deal with starting off indictable
offences which will then be sentenced in the Crown Court. Lay Magistrates come from local areas
and when appearing at a court they would usually gather three Lay Magistrates. This is in order for
the Lay Magistrates to come together in relation to making a final decision, towards making their
final decision they are able to receive guidance from the court clerk... Show more content on

These individuals do not have the qualifications in which other magistrates have which will require
lay magistrates to receive basic training in order to process making decisions towards sentences.
With their lack of knowledge this may result in Lenient sentences given Sentences not stable
Relying on the court clerk Inconsistent sentences Longer to analyse cases and come to a decision
Inconsistency in sentencing is due to the lack of knowledge in which lay magistrates obtain and this
creates a negative effect towards the court system. If sentences are inconsistent this means that the
role of courts is not being completed effectively as they should be. Lay magistrates who are faced
with offences may come to final decisions towards sentences which may not be acceptable, if an
individual commits an offence they must receive a sentence which is a punishment towards their
behaviour however with the lack of knowledge which the lay magistrate has, sentences may be
inconsistent. Another aspect involving a lack of knowledge which affects the court system
negatively due to lay magistrates is sentences being too light in comparison to the offence. Within
the magistrates court they deal with summary offences and triable either way offences in which they
must work towards coming to an acceptable sentence, if a lay magistrates has a lack of experience
comparing to the experience which qualified magistrates have this will result in sentences given
being too lenient.
William Wordsworth s The Preface
Throughout history, at least until the late 1700s, poetry had always been centered on specific
guidelines that one must follow when expressing their feelings. However, once the late 1700s came
around in Europe, there was a sudden shift in the idealized poetry construction. The main reason for
this revolution was the publication of William Wordsworths The Preface, which was a part of the
Lyrical Ballads, in which he stated his exact intentions for the Romantic Period of literature. This
period exemplified the radical changes that were beginning to occur in Europe, as well as other
places around the world.
In general, writers of this period expressed themselves through the use of imagination and
emotion instead of scholarly thoughts. In other words, they sought to use their inner eye in order
to see the world around them more clearly and accurately. Also, they believed all good aspects of
life came directly from nature, including the inherent good of humans as well as divine
intervention. The writers believed that by isolating oneself in nature, he or she would be able to
become more self aware and dependent. Due to this belief, the authors considered an important
part of this period of literature to be favoring the individual self over society as a whole. Various
parts of life could be included in this, but mostly just politics and social reform. Many poets were a
part of this radical change in literature: Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, Jane Austen,
and
How Did Maria Sklodowska Contribute To Science
Have you heard of Marie Curie? She was a Polish scientist who discovered polonium and radium,
winning a Nobel Prize twice − the first time in history. Marie made important contributions to
science, which are still felt today.
Maria Sklodowska was born in Poland on November 7, 1867. She had four siblings and was the
youngest child. Maria s father was Wladyslaw. When young Maria was only ten years old, though,
her mother Bronislawa died of tuberculosis. When Marie was older, her sister offered her lodgings
in Paris. She immediately went over to France and attended Sorbonne University. At the university,
she earned a master s in Physics in 1893 and completed another degree in Math one year after.
Later in life, Marie Curie met Pierre Curie,
