Midwestern Contemporary Art Case Study Essay
Midwestern Contemporary Art Case Study The Midwestern Contemporary Art case study presents a
relationship between a director; Keith Schmidt, and Peter Smith the chairman. Peter Smith pledged
$5 million towards the Midwestern Contemporary Art Museum. Both Peter Smith and Keith Schmidt
had a disagreement on the way the funds should be spent on projects around the museum. Smith and
Schmidt both seem to have the best interest of the museum at heart. Moreover, these two men took
different approaches to helping the museum. Peter Smith proceeded cautiously and the director,
Keith Schmidt seemed more ambitious. Keith Schmidt was very confident in his abilities and was
puzzled as to why Mr. Smith and the board members were not confident in his abilities and
continually questioned his decisions.
Peter Smith was fed up with the conduct of Mr. Schmidt, and left the Midwestern Contemporary Art
Museum without fulfilling his $5 million pledge. Peggy Fischer was voted the new chairperson and
now is faced with the task of straightening out the financial issues that the Midwestern Contemporary
Art Museum now faces. Peggy Fischer needs to collect the pledge from Peter Smith.
The Original Negotiation First, Peggy Fischer met with the board members, and sought out their
advice. The board members want to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Book French Photography 1800-1960
The Barnes Foundation s newest exhibition, French Photography 1800 1960, is a collection of
photographs that encapsulates life in France during the 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibit features
photographs by artists including Ilse Bing, Brassai, and Henri Cartier Bresson. Entering into the
exhibit is like taking a trip through time; depending on if you turn left or right at the entrance to the
exhibit, you can travel forward through time from the early to the mid 1900s or you can travel
backwards. The exhibit is organized by eight different periods and the attitudes that were most
prevalent during them. The categories are: Parisand Environs, Street Life, Commerce, Labor,
Leisure, Reportage, Celebrity, and Art for Art s Sake. The exhibit is an enlightening trip through
time, highlighting the glamorable life in France in the 19th and 20th centuries, bringing to life
artistic movements, culminating in the final intersection of cubism and photography, Brassai s piece
Transmutation: Girl Dreaming being perhaps the brightest star in the collection. Unlike other
exhibits in the Barnes, French Photography is unique in its medium. Photographs are fresh and
different from the Barnes usual paintings. It is also different in the Barnes treatment of the pieces.
Main installments at the Barnes are hung on the walls as if they were in someone s living room but
a black line drawn through every room prevents any viewer from getting to close to the works of art.
However, the photographs
Blaise Pascal s Wager Why Does God Exist
Darius Sabau

Philosophy
30 April 2018
Pascal s Wager
During the sixteen hundreds a great mathematician, physicist, and most importantly philosopher
named Blaise Pascal was born. Even though Blaise Pascal was a true genius and inventor of many
great inventions, one of the most important inventions that he created was his wager, which was
later termed Pascal s Wager. Contrary to popular belief Pascal s Wager is not actually an argument
that says that God exists, but rather it focuses on why it is more mathematically rational to believe
in God than not believing in God, rather than trying to prove whether or not God exists or does not
exist. This is a very important fact to take note of as it directly affects the way one would ... Show

The premises of Pascal s Wager start with the statement that God either exists or does not exist.
This is true because there is no way to rational prove either the existence or nonexistence of God.
The next premise is that if one wagers that God exists and is correct he gains everything while if
he is incorrect he loses nothing, and if he wagers that God doesn t exist then he loses everything
while if he is incorrect then he gains nothing. This leads to only one outcome having a positive
effect which in a way changes the outcome of the wager because there is only one correct answer
to gain. And thus the conclusion of Pascal s Wager is that it is foolish to not bet on the option
which would give the most assurance for a reward. If one considers the premises then one can
realize that out of all of the options there is only one in which the person wagering gains anything,
and that option is the one everyone should inherently bet
Stereotypes In The Color Purple
In the 19th century, Alice Walker wrote about a young girl who was discovering her true strength
and pushing through all of the obstacles presented to her. The novel describes Celie s life and all of
the dominant people she is introduced to. Celie represents the idea that no matter where someone is
from, they can amount to anything they truly want. The Color Purpleintroduces the disruption of
genderroles throughout the novel, and how they affect Celie s growth as a person.
During the 19th century, women typically had no say in society, especially in domestic situations.
This way of life is front and center in The Color Purple, so when the character Sofia was introduced,
Celie was definitely intrigued. Throughout the beginning of the ... Show more content on

She begins to refer to herself as a tree because anything she does is frowned upon, so not doing
anything is preferred. After Shug arrives, Celie has her first encounter with a beautiful,
promiscuous woman. Compared to anyone, let alone Shug, Celie is an extremely shy and
diplomatic character. So when Shug refers to Mr. _____ as weak, she is surprised that a woman
would have the audacity to speak that way. Shug acts as an opposing force to gender roles
because she is so willing to push the boundaries of life and announce all of the flaws people
possess. During that time era, men were automatically considered the dominant role in a
relationship. By talking about a man being flawed, showed Celie that nobody is perfect. Shug s
descriptions of Mr. ____ allow Celie to interpret life in a new way, instead of being confined by
the mainstream ways of thinking. Recognizing the existence of these alternatives gives Celie a
sense of control and is an important step in her move toward independence. Shug s defiance
affects Celie s confidence and inspires her to stand up for herself. Celie s assertion of herself
comes forcefully, when she breaks through her silence and lets go of all her built up anger. She tells
him that until he fixes what he has done, everything he touches will crumble. It shows that her
confidence is higher than ever and she is no longer a helpless object. She accepts

How Did The Decline Of Portugal
From 1580 to 1640, the throne of Portugal was held by the Habsburg kings of Spain. This period
marked a phase of decline for the Portuguese Empire. Spain s enemies, such as the Netherlands and
England, coveted their overseas wealth, and in many cases found it easier to attack poorly defended
Portuguese outposts than Spanish ones; Spainalso pursued a policy of neglect of the Portuguese
colonies it now controlled. Although Dutch colonies in Brazil were wiped out, over the 17th
century the Dutch were able to occupy Ceylon, the Cape of Good Hope, and the East Indies, and to
take over the trade with Japan at Nagasaki. Portugals Pacific territories were reduced to the bases at
Macao and East Timor.

In 1661 the Portuguese gave Bombay to England

Types Of Chemical Reaction
Background information
The diverse types of chemical reactions include Combination Reaction, Decomposition Reaction,
Displacement Reaction and Oxidation Reaction.

Combination reaction is a reaction where two reactants are combined into one product (Helmenstine,
2014). An example of this in everyday life is when we digest food in our stomachs, the acid in the
stomach reacts with the molecules contained within the food and breaks them down.

A decomposition reaction is a type of chemical reaction where one reactant yields two or more
products (Helmenstine, Thought Co, 2017). An example of this this the electrolysis of water into
oxygen and hydrogen gas.

Single displacement reactions are reactions where one reactant replaces part of the other
(Helmenstine, Thought Co, 2014). The elements with higher reactivity replaces the elements with
lower activity, an example of this is the statue of liberty that is made from iron and coated with
copper, the copper started reacting with air and a bluish green coating is formed. This coating
reacts with the iron inside and a single replacement occurs and the outside copper is replaced back
(Vista, 2017).

Oxidation reaction is the loss of electrons during a reaction by a molecule, atom or iron
(Helmenstine, Thought Co, 2017). An example in everyday life is the formation of rust on a metal
surface.

A chemical reaction takes place using displacement reaction between a metal and acid, for example
when the hydrogen and magnesium react the
