with many of them having worldwide operations. There are many large airline chains such as

especially in the European region provide acquisition opportunities to large chains. Merging in
the airline industry would strengthen competition and result in loss of revenues. Intense

Lord Of The Flies Setting Analysis
The setting in the novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding includes many details of the
setting that plays many important parts in the novel. First of all, the weather. The weather makes
the novel more interesting. William Golding made sure that the weather was perfect for this
novel so that he can include much more detail. He did this so when the children are stranded that
they have a chance to survive. He added that it was nice and warm for them to have a chance of
survival. Another point of the novel was the availability of food. Golding also made sure that he
included some sort of energy resource for the children so they would also have a chance of
surviving. Golding chose to include that there were fruits and animals on the island so the children
would then have to find and hunt their food. Golding also describes the fruits and the effects from
eating too much of it. For instance, eating too much of the fruits could cause stomach problems,
causing the boys to hunt for meat to make them feel better. Last of all, Golding added that the boys
were all healthy when the airplane crashed so there were no injuries. The plane was also removed
from the setting so that the children would not get any information about the outside world. These
are some ways the author, William Golding, makes this novel more interesting by adding such detail
in the storyline. The novel also has a theme based on the two philosophers, John Lockeand Thomas
Hobbes. The philosophical
Influence Of Past And Present
Influence of past and present.

Definitely we all have our past and what we are living with is present. Past could be sweet or bitter
whatever we have spent directly and indirectly influences our present. It is also said that our present
is determined by our past. How we spent our childhood, environment we have grown up, education
we took, family background, nature of the family members and occupations of our parents. All of
those are the past variables connected with our present. That s why our past life is considered as the
direct variable of our present life, which has direct impact with where we are today.

I am not talking all of the substances that the past life connection with the present. The main
concern of my past influences is if we had our bad past life, how to overcome them and just take a
good lesion to move forward in our life. Everyone must have gone with different situations in the
past. We could have very interesting past lives as well; some of us might have spent the horrible
due to certain tragedy we never want to remember that again. Whatever the past either it is sweet or
bitter, past is already gone but the memory has left us with us frequently affecting our present. We
have to learn to be proud for the accomplishment we made instead of regretting with the failure in
the past. We have to celebrate our reward even we had a bitter time yesterday. That is already passed
away and never come back but our present is more precious that we have to deserve
Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn 2
Popper and Kuhn: Two Views of Science In this essay I attempt to answer the following two
questions: What is Karl Popper s view of science? Do I feel that Thomas Kuhn makes important
points against it? The two articles that I make reference to are Science: Conjectures and
Refutations by Karl Popper and Logic of Discovery or Psychology of Research? by Thomas Kuhn.
Both articles appear in the textbook to this class. In the article, Science: Conjectures and Refutations
, Karl Popper attempts to describe the criteria that a theory must meet for it to be considered
scientific. He calls this puzzle the problem of demarcation. Popper summarizes his arguments by
saying, the criterion of the scientific status of a theory is its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Kuhn refutes this point by claiming that Popper s assertion that astrologers escape falsification
by explaining away any possible refutations is impossible to support. Kuhn uses the example of
reputable records that indicate many instances where astrology categorically failed. Astrology is
a very complex science (or non science, depending on your opinion). Measuring the planets and
the stars is hard, and in the days when astrology was more popular, the tools for measuring were
crude. In addition, few people knew exactly when they were born, a crucial detail needed to
perform accurate astrology. Kuhn agrees with Popper in stating that astrology is not a science,
but they differ in their reasons. Kuhn main problem with astrology is that the failures of
astrology do not give rise to research puzzles. He thinks that when a scientific theory fails to
explain a phenomenon, there is a new puzzle for scientists to study, learn, and grow from. In
astrology, nothing is learned from mistakes. There is no effort to change the theory to explain why
it failed or adopt a new theory. Popper emphasizes the importance of testing when it comes to new
theories replacing old ones. Kuhn takes particular offense to this statement. He argues that if one
looks at how science is actually done, not how Popper thinks it should be done, it will be clear that
many new theories were adopted before they had been tested. Kuhn uses the example of Copernicus
theory being adopted over
Stereotypes In The Military
One such group who not only had, and has stereotypes and misconceptions, but has also been around
for centuries, the United States military. The oldest form of American military ever recorded is the
National Guard, which was founded in 1636 when the colonies fought with the British against
Native American tribes and the French in modern day Canada. More commonly known branches
such as the Marines and the Army weren t founded until 1775. Ever since, many services and
branches have come and have served the nation. The militaryis a real unknown organization to the
common civilian as they have clouded views of the modern military and its soldiers today. Many
civilians get their thoughts and views from news outlets, movies, shows, and other forms of social
media about the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to several online websites, such as Task and Purpose, Military Spouses, and Business
Insider, a very common assumption is that they enlisted into the military as a last resort or option.
According to the articles, a stereotype is that soldiers love war and can t get enough of it. The
articles, specifically Task and Purpose and Business Insider, says this is false. Personal
interviews from Staff Sergeant(SSG) Edward Torres, a local National Guard recruiter, and
Sergeant First Class(SFC) William R. Spears, a former National Guard tanker now an infantry
soldier, claim this assumption to also be false. SSG Torres suspects this is confused as he states
soldiers experience a rush of adrenaline during combat, which makes them feel more relaxed and
happy, as the natural drug does. He goes on to say that civilians can experience the same effect of
an adrenaline rush during activities such as skydiving, or sky gliding; however, denies the fact that
soldier enjoy war itself. SFC Spears confirms this thought as he suggests that he has been asked
about 20 times, from both adults and
Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration Essay
Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration In 1852, there were over 20,000 Chinese
immigrants living in California (Franks). Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their
negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict,
which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the
Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States(Foner,
651). From the 1850s up to the Exclusion Act of 1882, Americans felt increasingly negative
sentiments towards the Chinese. As illustrated through newspaper and magazine depictions along
the Pacific Coast, the Americans perceived the Chinese as inferior and... Show more content on

The scenery is drawn with many dark shades on the walls and floor, depicting it as an alley or a
similarly secluded location. Here, the Chinese man partakes in his devious acts, away from the
public eye. This sets a dark, mischievous tone, and in the drawing the little boy is smoking a cigar,
presumably as a result of the Chinese man s negative influence. The little boy is underage and is
engaging in immoral behavior. The Chinese man has corrupted him simply through association,
and by smoking a cigar at his age he has been corrupted. This depiction shows the underlying
perception that the Chinese were an infestation that were negatively influencing and corrupting the
population. This perception of the Chinese as a menace is also apparent in the image Amusing the
Child from The Wasp. This picture depicts the Chinese man as a diabolical creature: He crawls
around on four legs like a dog, and has large scaly hands with sharp, thin nails. The Chinese man
wears tattered clothing and from behind, a long, red devil s tale extends from his body. Also, the
image has two Americans sitting on chairs: Sitting in the left chair is President Chester Arthur and in
the right chair is a baby, which represents the Pacific Coast. The Chinese man s appearance not only
degrades him, but also establishes the view that the Chinese
Feminism and Fairy Tales
In a society unbridled with double standards and set views about women, one may wonder the
origins of such beliefs. It might come as a surprise that these ideals and standards are embedded
and have been for centuries in the beloved fairy tales we enjoyed reading as kids. In her analytical
essay, To Spin a Yarn: The Female Voice in Folklore and Fairy Tales , Karen Rowe argues that
fairy tales present cultural norms which exalt passivity, dependency, and self sacrifice as a female s
cardinal virtues. Rowe presents an excellent point, which can be supported by versions of the cult
classics, Cinderella and Snow White . Charles Perraults The Little Glass Slipper and the Brothers
Grimms Snow White exemplify the beliefs that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the same case of women in society, those that don t conform are looked down and
reprehended. Perrault perfectly embodies the ideal female cannon in his fairy tale The Little Glass
Slipper , the Brothers Grimm also embody this cannon in their tale of Snow White. They embody
this cannon and its ideal virtues in the character of Snow White, who much like Cinderella is
trusting, passive and dependent on the care of the dwarfs and the handsome prince. Snow White
s dependency is first showed when the Brothers Grimm write Snow White was so beautiful that
the huntsman took pity on her and said: Just run away, you poor girl (84). The Brothers Grimm
show that Snow White is not in control of her own life, she has to depend on a man in order to
live. During one of the queen s murder attempts Snow White falls for her tricks and falls as if dead.
The Brothers Grimm record that when the dwarfs came home She didn t move in the slightest, and
they were sure she was dead. They lifted her up, and when they saw that she had been laced too
tightly, they cut the staylace in two. Snow White began to breathe, and little by little she came back
to life (86). Through this seen the Brothers Grimm insinuate that females are dependent on men in
every and which way. By making Snow White dependent on the
Promotion Strategy Essay
At its heart, promoting a product is simply communication. Consumer perceptions are a key
component of success or failure, so organizations must strive to align communications into clear,
concise, and customer oriented messages (Lumen, n.d). The point of promotion is to convince
consumers to purchase the intended product. There are several promotion methods to choose from
and nearly limitless media to use for promotion. Marketingdepartments must choose the method or
methods and media that best reach the target consumer. In order to further illustrate the use of
promotion methods and media, promotion strategies have been developed for a software company, a
new toy, a health beverage, and a small airline.

Overall, this approach is indicative of the importance of the customer to the organization. It has
another benefit as well. When a small company uses multiple salespeople to contact a client it helps
the company appear larger than it is (Lumen, n.d.). There are a couple of types of media the
organization should use. First, submit the software to www.cnet.com for review. This will provide a
point of reference for anyone researching animation software and provide impartial judgment on the
merits of the software. Second, contact ideal customers and schedule a presentation of the new
advanced software. Once complete, offer a sample version of the software (with reduced
functionality) so it can be operated prior to purchasing the full version. Since there are many small
companies that create video games and other animation, I suggest attending trade shows. According
to the Animation World Network website, there are 19 tradeshows in the next 3 months (Events,
n.d.). The organization can also attend shows frequented by animators such as the E3 and South by
Southwest conferences. The proper use of these methods will ensure the news of this innovative
animation software reaches the intended target audience. While this plan works in this scenario, it
does not necessarily apply to all products.
New Toy
An organization has developed a new toy to capitalize on the popularity of a children s TV show.
There were delays in getting the toy introduced in the market
Gallagher s Home-Personal Narrative
You know when people describe what Hell must be like? Well, they re all wrong. There could be
no explanation other than what I m in right now. You see, I go to school at Gallagher College. It s
pretty much a standard college, but Gallagher has gotten a vast array of awards and prestige for
turning out some of the students who were the best and brightest in their fields. Oh, and they had a
lot of money to spend, which certainly didn t hurt it s status.

To celebrate some achievement or another, I don t know as I didn t really pay too much attention,
the dean decided that the whole of the college would take a class trip to England, as he saw it as a
wonderful opportunity for the students to go abroad and enjoy themselves. So far, the trip had been

Why don t you go make yourself useful and get me some beer? This coming from Chad s mouth
didn t surprise me in the least. He and a group of his friends, the party animals as Marina and I
called them, were blaring something on the TV.

Get it yourself. I mumbled back, knowing that he wasn t really listening for a reply anyway. Seeing
that I hadn t moved from the comfort of my chair, Chad raised an eyebrow, getting up to growl
more petty insults in my face, I m sure.

Hey, sunshine!. The lighthearted voice of my best friend greeted me and I turned to look at her.
Marina had her hair up in a ponytail today, the brown waves almost reaching her back. She was
wearing a simple sundress, and looked like she was about to burst with excitement. Looking back at
Chad, I saw that he had grudgingly returned to his spot on the couch, probably assuming that Marina
would try to give him a black eye if he interrupted us again. Then again, his assumption was probably
correct.

Someone s peppy today. I commented and although I wasn t looking at her at the moment I could
tell she rolled her eyes.

Duh! Haven t you heard what we re doing today? I sighed, looking at the clock on my
Gas Food Lodging Analysis
Gas food lodging by Alison Anders and Mississippi Masala by Mira Nair both contain strong
female protagonists who stray away from their societal norm. The protagonist in Gas food
lodging Shade was raised in a broken home where there was alot of absence pushing her to want
to embrace the idea of family. Mina from Mississippi Masala grew up with a role to fulfill and
suffocation of expectations which urged her to want to find herself as an individual. Their home
life affects how they grow into their identity. Mississippi Masala gives the notion that home is an
emotion. As opposed to home being a fixed physical location alludes to it as a relationship. Mina
throughout her life was pressured to live her life a certain way. This was exercised in her home, she
