Moby Dick Rhetorical Analysis
Herman Meville s novel Moby Dick delineates the audacious journey of Captain Ahab and his
crew aboard the Pequod as they hunt for the infamous White Whale. With Ahab at the helm, the
quest is one of revenge, as Ahab s leg was taken by Moby Dick some years prior to this fateful
voyage. However, throughout the journey, the crew of the Pequod questions the rationality of
pursuing the most viciously lethal creature to ever inhabit the sea. Since Ahab knows fully well of
his inability to slay Moby Dick without the help of a crew, he utilizes his immense rhetorical skill
in order to convince them to continue on the path to their watery graves. His usage of hyperbole,
diction, logical fallacies and personification allows the mad captain to reassure his crew that their
journey will be a profitable one.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Captain Ahab and his crew launch into a campaign that spans three days as they chase Moby
Dick. After the first two days, however, the crew is battered and broken and Starbuck verbalizes
to Ahab that they should turn back. Predictably, Ahab will hear nothing of this and in turn
counters with a monologue, pushing his rhetorical prowess to the limits as he convinces the crew
to tarry on towards their final destination. Ahab s use of hyperbole in this section creates a
tremendous sense of gravity towards the situation. He stakes the claim that his final showdown
with Moby Dick, Twas rehearsed by thee and me a billion years before this ocean rolled (Melville
442). Ahab drives home his point of the extent of his planned vengeance through the exaggeration of
time. His diction helps to solidify the severity the mission holds to him by using the word billion as
opposed to a smaller number such as thousands or
Stakeholder Theory Of The Firm
Even though the stakeholder theory of the firm served as a comprehensive fundamentally solid
concept for corporate social responsibility to branch out of; without the stakeholder theory of the
firm there is no corporate social responsibility and vice versa, because business cannot exist without
society and society is not sustainable without business, due to advancements in the modern world,
business and society have evolved, and traditional business theories have a narrow business scope,
while contemporary perspectives have a broader approach.
First, Without the stakeholder theory of the firm there is no corporate social responsibility and vice
versa, because business cannot exist without society and society is not sustainable without business.
According to R. Edward Freeman 1984, the stakeholder theory of the firm is about a conceptualised
thought of how a firm works and creates value (youtube video). So, in order for us to understand
what the stakeholder theory of the firm is about first the components of the theory should be defined.
Stakeholders are groups or individuals who affect or are affected by the operations and or decisions
of the organisation and contribute or are a necessity to the success or failure of the organisation.
Stakeholders can be owners, managers, suppliers, employees, communities, financiers, government,
non profit bodies and customers even sometimes competitors (Freeman). Next, a firm is an
establishment or a number of establishments that buy,

John F. Kennedy Inauguration Speech
At a time of hardships, a generation who had lived a life of war and troubles came together to
celebrate the inauguration of the 35th president of the united states. The three pieces analyzed use
different methods to portray what exactly went on on that cold January day, but managed to impact
the readers and portray John F. Kennedythe same way. His inauguration speech uses different
rhetorical terms and Ethos as a method of persuasion. The article Inside Kennedy´s Inauguration by
Eleanor Clit on the other hand, uses Pathos to give an emotional connection. Finally the photo,
credited to the United States Army Signal corps uses imagery to capture that historical moment.
Regardless of what method they each used they all manage to portray him the same way. As a
respected, strong, brilliant and transcendent human being. Each of the three sources, uses unique
methods such as ethos, pathos and imagery to portray a similar legacy of John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

John F. Kennedy Inauguration speech uses a different style to portray the president s legacy. Here
we get to hear a first person account of what he hopes for the nation and what his objectives
ultimately are. The prominent method of persuasion used is ethos while there is also a presence of
other key rhetorical terms throughout the speech. The readers are compelled to listen and take in all
of the words given by John F. Kennedy since there is that sense of trust or credibility in his
statements. He has now become arguably

Taking a Look at India s Geography
Did you know that India is the second most populated country in the world with over 1.2 billion
people? This heavily populated country s history and culture was, and still is, affected by its
geography. For example, The Ganges River provided some irrigation, but was mostly known for its
religious significance in the Hindu faith. The Indus Riverprovided fertile land for the Indus Valley
civilization and allowed agriculture to flourish, but also flooded, which was part of the
civilization s economical weakening. Another factor that which brought the fall of the civilization
was the Hindu Kush Mountain Range; although it provided some protection, paths were
discovered by invaders that permitted them to cross over and quell. The Ganges River, a wide
and slow paced river, starting from the mountain tops, then through the Gangetic Plain, and finally
empties into the Bay of Bengal ( Ganges River ). The fertile Gangetic Plain was where settlements
and developing cities during prehistoric times because it was stable agriculturally ( Geography ).
Despite the fact that the Ganges brought great fertility, it is also known as the most holy and
sacramental river in the Hindu religion. The river is personified as a goddess, Ganga, who was sent
from heaven to purify cursed and sinful souls; she was caught in the snowy Himalayan peaks of
Shiva s hair , then escapes by flowing down the mountain into the sea and finally purified more than
60,000 souls (Watts). Due to this myth, people

Math Reflection
There I was in eleventh grade in my final month of school that year. I was sitting in the front row
near the door of my Math Inquiry classroom, just behind the foreign exchange student from Japan
and my friend Eryn. I found Math to be the most difficult subject in school for me, always getting
C s and D s on exams and never comprehending anything that was told to me. Which is why I was
put in the Math Inquiry class in the first place with a teacher named Ms. Dickey. Math that year
was beyond difficult and I cannot explain even to this day how I managed to survive. My teacher
always answered my questions when I struggled and was well aware I studied day and night for this
class and this class only. Then came the dreaded nightmare known as the Unit Circle. I had to learn it
or else I would never pass the class. When I was younger I was frustrated and became stressed
easily. I have always felt like my pace was slower compared to what others worked at. Everything
seemed so clustered to me. Math alone was like broken glass, mentally I would punch it in
frustration and the fragments would only become more and more. Each time I tried to fix the
broken pieces it would only cut my fingers and make me inept to doing anything with them. Truth
be told, this fit me with everything I did in school and in life. I wanted to be the person to take those
fragments and put them together easily and create something beautiful the first time. How did
people create beautiful works and solve such
Pros And Cons Of All-Star Athletes
On October 3, 2017, the NBA said the traditional All Star Game would have a new format. In
previous years, the All Star Game consisted of 12 players from the Western and Eastern
Conference each. The players were chosen by fan voting, media, and fellow players. However,
over this year s offseason, many All Star athletes migrated towards the west. A report showed that
when looking at the top fifteen NBA athletes, only Lebron James was in the east. The NBA
realized that the game would be lopsided and decided to modify the formatting. Starting with the
2018 All Star Game, teams will be selected by two captains from a pool of players. The captains
would be players with the highest total votes, and the pool of players would also be judged on voting.
Organ Trafficking Of The Crown Plaza Hotel In Chicago
The first theory is that this whole situation was a setup that the hotel employees planned to sell
her organs. After her funeral, people noticed that Jenkins s organs were missing. It is rumored
that the Crown Plaza Hotel in Chicago is actually a place where they do organ trafficking. This
happens around the world where people get kidnapped or killed to get their organs removed for
other people that need it. On Instagram there was a post that went viral and it said, There s
rumors going around saying the hotel was known for organ trafficking, a post on one of the boy s

someone was grabbing her elbow and guiding her throughout the kitchen, and some people saw

John Stuart Mill And Plato
Throughout history, many philosophers have argued different ideas about government, but only a
few have discussed women s roles in government and society. Two great thinkers John Stuart Mill
and Plato, are apart of this small group of philosophers and have even been described as feminists.
In this essay, I will discuss the ideas of Mill and Plato that have led to their feminist epithets and
whether or not I think it is true.
Mill is considered to be one of the earliest feminists in history because of his campaign for gender
equality. In Mill s essay Subjection of Women , he argues strongly for women s rights, and gender
equality, which are the main principles of feminism. In chapter 1, Mill challenges the idea that
women are by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[149] This argument can be refuted by using Mill s natural argument. He states that What is now
called the nature of women is an artificial thing the result of the forced repression in some
directions, unnatural stimulation in others. [152] In other words Mill is stating that the subjection
of women is something that has been ingrained in society for so long that is custom. Even the ones
who are oppressed, which are women, in this case, will even start to believe it, (which is why they
might prefer being housewives). Mill uses this argument to explain that custom is the reason for the
subjection of women and not the so called natural differences. To conclude this point, Mill argued
that the inequality of women was a relic from the past , and had no place in the modern world. [150]
This supports the notion that he was, in fact, a feminist. He believed that women should be on an
equal playing field with men and that having effectively half the human race unable to contribute to
society is a hindrance to human development . [134] Even though Mill s ideas are important to
feminist texts of the nineteenth century he still inspires feminists around the world even till this day.
In Book V of The Republic Plato discusses his ideas about women s role in his ideal state. Plato
feels that women should receive equal administrative occupations, including the rule of the city as
well as its defense. Plato may be described as
