Analysis Of Fools Horse And Fools Crow
In the Pikuni society, honor can be described as a form of social currency. Men and women of the
Pikuni tribes were known by their honor, it they were given names based on their glories in battle,
and they were brought up with a furious devotion to their tribe. In a way, the entire relationship
between Fools Crow and Fast Horsereflected the role of honor in Pikuni Culture. Throughout the
story, Fools Crow showed time after time his devotion to the Lone Eaters. Whether it was on the
horse raid, the war party, or his spiritual quests, he proved that his main focus was on the
amelioration of his tribe. However, Fast Horse, on the other hand, proved right from the start that
he did not care about the tribe s interest he was only focused on his personal glory. Moreover, he
wanted honor and glory to simply be given to him, instead of earning it through selfless action.
Ultimately, Fast Horse gave up on the Loner Eaters in search or an easier path to glory, and was
shunned by his people. The contrast in the transformations of Fools Crow and Fast Horse is the
best example of the value of honor in Pikuni society. Rides at the door, Fools Crow s father, shows
us another example of honor in the story. He is not a chief, yet the Pikunis put great value his input.
Much like Fools Crow, when he was a young man, he stole horses and fought amongst his fellow
Pikuni in battle against their enemy even as an older man he bravely went into battle to defend the
honor of Yellow Kidney.
Akbash Dog Case Study
The white Akbash Dog is from
Turkey and claims both sighthounds and Mastiffs as ancestors. The breed was imported into the
U.S. in the late 1970s as a livestock guardian, and by 1986, had established itself as one of the most
successful livestock guardian breeds, protecting livestock from predators, including coyotes and
bears.
The Akbash Dog stands 27 to 32 inches tall and weighs 75 to 140 pounds. It is white with a double
coat. The undercoat is dense and soft. The outer coat comes in two lengths: either a medium coat that
lies flat or a long coat that has a distinct ruff and profuse feathering. The Akbash Dog should show
features of both the sighthound, with his long legs and deep chest, and the Mastiff, with his broad
head, height, and weight.
The Book Flatland Is Based On A Two Dimensional World
Introduction
The book Flatland is based in a two dimensional world that explores a one dimension world, albeit
briefly, and a three dimension world. On face value it seems as it is just a mathematical fiction book
about a two dimensional world, but a closer look shows the use of satire to tackle the crude social
aspects of Victorian England. Before you can truly understand the profoundness of this book you
should understand the author, who originally wrote it under the pseudonym A. Square. The real
author is Edwin A. Abbott.

Edwin A. Abbott, the Author of Flatland Edwin Abbott Abbott was born in England on December
20, 1838 to Jane Abbott and Edwin Abbott. He was born into a time where groundbreaking theories

They were threaten by the idea of equality and dissolution of class structure. They killed the leader
of the Colour Revolt, to cease the rise of equality. Then at the end they sentenced the main
character to jail because he spoke of a world they did not believe in. Edwin died at the age 87 on
October 12, 1926 in London.

Overview of the Book (Abbott, 1884) The book is mainly set in a two dimensional world called
Flatland. It does make visits to the three dimensional world called Spaceland, and the one
dimensional world Lineland. The narrator is a square from Flatland called A. Square. As a square
he is a member of the class of gentlemen and professionals.
The first chapter of the book is how the residents of flatland see each other. All the Flatlanders see
is lines. The lines have some shading so they can infer what shape the other person is. Part 1 of
the book shows how Flatland operates. The men in Flatland have anywhere between three sides to
ten thousand. The lower number of sides, means you are in a lower class. The isosceles triangles
are the lowest class. Then the equilateral triangles, squares and so on. There are no true circles in
flatland, but the highest class member have so many sides that they are considered circles. Women
are straight lines. They have their own set of laws to appease the men. Women must shake or do a
Analysis of Tchaikovsky s quot;Romeo and Juliet quot; Essay
Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet

The slow introduction, which is the theme of Friar Lawrence, begins with a slow minor melody
played by the clarinets, which imitates a Russian hymn. The strings then take over the melody and
use suspensions. There is a modulation to the major and the strings and woodwind play together.
The music modulates back to minor and the flute plays an ascending minor arpeggio whilst the harp
plays glissandos. This is repeated. Pizzicato strings then play a descending sequence whilst the flute
melody crescendos and accelerates. A string legato melody then alternates between the cello and the
violin, before all the strings play together and crescendo as the harp accompanies and the violins
play a pedal note. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harp scales and a string passage then follows. There is a brief modulation back to minor, and then
the flute repeats the love theme in major, accompanied by pizzicato strings. As the melody
crescendos and accelerates, the horn plays a countermelody. Harmonics are heard in the
accompanying strings as a legato string melody is played, before the cor anglais returns and plays a
gradual diminuendo, ending in a perfect cadence.

The development and recapitulation section opens with the strings and flute playing antiphonally
in a minor key. The melody is very rhythmic and uses accelerando. The strings then play ascending
and descending scales, before playing a melody that is accompanied by brass. The French horns
and woodwind section then play in imitation. There is a crescendo, with ascending scales played by
the woodwind. The strings play an inverted pedal as the French horn and woodwind imitate each
other again. The cello then plays the melody, imitated by strings and flute. An ascending and
descending string passages follow, with cymbal crashes. The brass and strings play a syncopated
rhythm, which is repeated by the orchestra and uses cymbal crashes. The orchestra then repeats the
fight melody, using cymbal crashes, suspensions, triplets and descending scales, whilst the trumpets
play the Friar Lawrence theme. Following the crescendo, there is a descending string scale, then the
woodwind then plays an arpeggio melody whilst the
The Novel in Africa
THE NOVEL IN AFRICA

John Maxwell Coetzee is a South African essayist, novelist , linguist, literary critic and translator.
He has also won the Noble prize in the Literature category. The following lecture The Novel in
Africa was given by him in the University of California in Doreen B.Townsend Center for the
Humanities.
This lecture is a fictionalized creation of J.M .Coetzee, which upholds his belief that, ...a true sense
in which writing is dialogic; a matter of awakening counter voices in oneself and embarking on
speech with them. The two central characters in this lecture, namely Elizabeth Costello a middle
aged Australian lady novelist and Emmanuel Egudu are therefore the two counter voices in this piece
which is both a lecture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However even while she is giving this lecture she feels she is no longer convinced by what she is
saying and this lack on conviction has seeped into her speech to. However she continues to give the
speech as it is something that needs to be done.
Emmanuel then begins his speech The Novel in Africa by pointing out to three things. Firstly that
alphabet was introduced in the continent by the westerners and that writing in Africa is a very recent
happening.
Secondly that the novel reading is not a typical African time pass and that due to being a third world
country and poverty stricken Africans can not afford to buy a novel and read it because it gives
nothing concrete in return to the African.
Emmanuel then goes on to highlight the problem of the writers in Africa, and how hard it is for
an African novelist to remain true to his or her own essence when there are hardly any publishers
in the country to support him in his endeavor to write something worthwhile and when he has to
go to aboard to earn a living where people come with their own idea of what Africa and how one
should write or portray it in literature. Thus an African writer has to bow down and concede to
whatever is expected of him, thus the situation is He teaches in colleges in America, telling the youth

The Impact Of WWII On Women
With a great amount of women in the workforce, the second World War was sure to change
society s perspective of women and women s perspective of themselves. WWII changed the
United States for women, and at the same time women changed their nation. Over 350,000
women volunteered for military service while 20 times as many stepped into civilian jobs, that
were previously male owned. More than 7,000,000 women who hadn t earned a signal wage
before the war, like me, joined the already 11,000,000 women who were already in the American
work force. Between 1941 and 1945, several women moved away from their homes to take
advantage of the wartime opportunities and enter the workforce, while many stayed at home to
organize initiatives to conserve resources,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1944, when the bill went before Congress, the need for pilots decreased so the WASP program
was deactivated. The twentieth of December of 1944 was a sad day for all of us. However we
knew that our legacy and our contributions to the war would be remembered forever. General
Arnold once said, in any future total effort, the nation can count on thousands of its young women
to fly any of its aircraft. But most importantly, we had dispelled the doubt in any person who once
thought that we were incapable of flying an aircraft as well as a man
