The Rights Of An Attorney
American citizens tend to forget that they did not always have the rights they have today. They
do not remember that the rights they have were not just handed to them, people fought for them.
One in particular that was not easily granted was the right to an attorney. While there are other
important parts to due process, the right to an attorney is by far the most valuable and necessary.
The right to an attorney is the most important aspect of due process because without it any human
being without money would be at risk of going to jail for a crime they did not commit, defendants
would receive incompetent lawyers, and people would not have the opportunity of being informed
of their other rights. One case that illustrates the necessity of having the right to an attorney is
Gideon v Wainwright. This case in particular dealt with an elderly man named Gideon who was
sent to prison for a crime he did not commit. After realizing that he should have received an
attorney he wrote a petition. After being granted the opportunity for a second trial with an attorney
appointed to him, he was found innocent. Also, the cases in which convicted felons were not
granted counsel were going to receive a second trial (Gideon). His actions changed the lives of all
American citizens. If it weren t for Gideon those who could not afford an attorney would, most
likely, end up in prison for a crime they did not commit (Gideon). Our entire justice system would be
corrupt and innocent people would go to
Shun Electronics Case Essay examples
INTRODUCTION

Shun Electronics Company is a medium sized firm with in the Malaysian electronics industry.
Currently there are two operating divisions, the KB Monitor division which manufactures computer
monitors, and the KL Radio division which makes radios.

For this case, we will be presenting the side from the KL Radio division. The KL Radio division
currently makes two basic radios a shelf model and a portable model. Each of these models is
available in three different versions; a bathroom shower version, a 1950 s metal style cabinet
version, and a wooden cabinet version. Altogether there are 6 radios being produced at the company.

The current production process can be seen in three departments, assembly, fabrication and ... Show

Overhead costs rates are revised annually but the standard for direct labor and material are only
changed when prices, production methods or production designed are changed significantly.

However, an employee of Shun, Manjit, has decided to change the method in which Shun Electronics
calculates its costs of its products. Manjit wants to expand the three departmental cost centers to
eight, each with its own overhead cost allocation rate. As a result, it appears that the total costs for
four of their six radios will increase, while two will decrease. This poses a great deal of issues
concerning Shun Electronics:
Standard cost of product change
Longer run functions such as price change, make/buy decisions, financial planning and corporate
management evaluation divisional performance are altered significantly
This new costing method may change current incentives of managers
Profit margins for some products decreased while others increased

This poses us with three alternatives we can take for Shun Electronics:
1.Continue on with our current cost model
2.Adopt Manjit s cost model
3.Alter Manjits model and compute new numbers
FIRST ALTERNATIVE
1.Continue on with our current cost model

With our old model, we will be able to continue onwards with our production. However, this poses
some serious problems for our product
The Ethics Of The Patient
One of the essential qualities of the clinician is interest in humanity, for the secret of the care of the
patient is in caring for the patient Francis F Peabody. As I continued my journey in internal medicine
and hematology, I realized that ethical practice and empathy are the essence of medicine every
single day.
My interest in Internal Medicine developed during my 12 month long internship at Dhaka Medical
College Hospital, the largest teaching hospital serving patients with all types of medical
complaints from all over Bangladesh. Each admission day, I was enthralled by the diversity of
problems and the complexity of clinical presentations of the diseases. Because Internal Medicine
deals with diseases involving all organ systems of human body, it requires a vast yet, in depth
clinical knowledge and diagnostic acumen. I found it intensely satisfying for an intelligent and
inquisitive mind to formulate a list of differentials for any presenting complaint and deduce one
final diagnosis using clinical and laboratory clues. Even more rewarding was developing
relationships with the patients as I cared for them from admission to discharge. I remember how
Mr. K s face lit up when I said, Ah! You and your grandson have the same birthday, right?
My favorite Internal Medicine rotation, however, was in the hematology department. To me it was a
blend of basic science and clinical medicine including critical care, infectious disease and palliative
care. I noticed the
Social and Political Propaganda Essay
There are two types of propaganda: sociological propaganda; the spreading of an ideology through
the mass media, and political propaganda; efforts that are sponsored by governments and political
groups that alter a persons interests. All propaganda has a direction, and the overall quality
determines whether it will have a positive or negative effect over the masses. Our entire nation is a
vast propagandaoperational system that is greatly linked to education, consumerism and politics. A
great deal of what makes up propaganda and how it is placed among the masses lies in
understanding the overall emotional and physical states of these groups of people and in finding a
way to draw a persons attention to capture their hearts, breaking down... Show more content on

An example of this would be during times of war, more specifically World War II. The idea of
pinpointing was presented during this time, as it gave the people of the U.S. reason to put a
great deal of blame on another group or person, and it presented the public to the concept of what
was defined as wrong and what was essentially right at that time. As Alia Hoyt had stated in an
article for HowStuffWorks.com, she believed that, Many other propaganda methods exist, but
they subsist on the same basic principles as the ones listed above: Manipulate the message to
portray an issue or person in the most favorable light possible, and when necessary, make the
opposing side look shabby in comparison (Hoyt 1). Propaganda, in any case, can drastically
change how a person thinks about a certain thing whether politically, as seen by Nazi Germany in
World War II, or commercially, such as different forms of advertisements seen in the mainstream
media throughout the United States and all over the world. The use of propaganda is a main factor
in today s society, yet unfortunately, it is seen in a more fraudulent manner than reliable. This shift
of propaganda can lead to many misconceptions in life as it may have faulty descriptions about
things in society, yet more people are allowing to consume their lives rather than fight against it and
demand it to be shut out from our everyday lives, if all it
Raskolnikov Confession
Confession is an art Confessions are powerful and can change someone s life forever. When
Marmeladov confesses his whole life to Raskolnikov, Raskolnikov mindset of confessing and
sharing is unintentionally shifted. He becomes more nervous to confess and share about himself
in the future because he has a fear in the back of his mind that he could share too much, so he
takes back everything he says that could put him in any danger. Confessing is scary and causes a
lot of fear, so taking back a confession can make the process easier and can make a person feel
like they are in control more. Raskolnikov takes back all of his future confessions due to the
conversation he had at the bar with Marmeladov; he doesn t want to overshare, so instead, he... Show

Marmeladov and Raskolnikov are talking in a bar about Marmeladov s life and all the things that
he or his family have done wrong. When Marmeladov begins his story, he says to Raskolnikov,
For by telling you the story of my life, I do not wish to expose myself to disgrace before these
lovers of idleness, who know everything anyway, but am seeking a sensitive and educated man
(16). Marmeladov begins to confess because he needs someone to talk to, and he feels that
Raskolnikov is the right person and a person that will give him a smart and meaningful response.
Although Marmeladov doesn t want to expose himself, he wants someone to relate to and someone
to be empathetic with his story (16). This event can be seen as foreshadowing Raskolnikov s future
confessions and it can provide some reasoning for his odd confessions and why he keeps revoking
them. Because he doesn t completely want to expose himself either, Raskolnikov, takes back his
confessions when he realizes that they might become problematic (16). Although Raskolnikov takes
back his confessions, Marmeladov doesn t and he shares more personal information about his family
rather than himself. The contrast between the confessions of the two men can be seen as confusing
because
Ee Cummings Poetry
Despite Cummings affinity for avant garde styles, much of his work is traditional. Many of his
poems are sonnets, and he occasionally made use of the blues form and acrostics. Cummings poetry
often deals with themes of love and nature, as well as the relationship of the individual to the
masses and to the world. His poems are also often rife with satire.

While his poetic forms, and even themes, show a close continuity with the romantic tradition, his
work universally shows a particular idiosyncrasy of syntax, or way of arranging individual words
into larger phrases and sentences. Many of his most striking poems do not involve any typographical
or punctuational innovations at all, but purely syntactic ones.

As well as being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In addition, a number of Cummings poems feature, in part or in whole, intentional misspellings;
several feature phonetic spellings intended to represent particular dialects. Cummings also made use
of inventive formations of compound words, as in in Just , which features words such as mud
luscious and puddle wonderful .

Many of Cummings poems address social issues and satirize society (see why must itself up every
of a park , above), but have an equal or even stronger bias toward romanticism: time and again his
poems celebrate love, sex and the season of rebirth (see anyone lived in a pretty how town in its
entirety).

His talent extended to children s books, novels, and painting. A notable example of his versatility is
an introduction he wrote for a collection of the comic strip Krazy Kat.

Examples of Cummings unorthodox typographical style can be seen in his poems the sky was candy

European Honey Bee Affect Australia s Biodiversity
How has the introduction of the European honey bee by humans to Australia s various wide
ecosystems impacted Australia s biodiversity?

THE EUROPEAN HONEY BEE

The European honey bee (or western honey bee, Apis Mellifera) is a species of bee that naturally
occurs in Europe, but has been introduced by humans to a variety of foreign ecosystems, including
Australia and New Zealand. It is of ecological importance because of the effect that this introduced
species has on the biodiversity of native wildlife, in particular native bees, hollow nesting native
birds and mammals, honeyeater birds and native flora.

Of particular interest is the fact that, despite the risk to native fauna and flora, honey produced by
the European honey bee is a major industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competition for floral resources
The European honey bee interacts with a wide diversity of flora (over 200) and native Australian
fauna, especially through the sharing of floral resources. These interactions can be harmful to
threatened species if the resources are limited, and due to the degree of how much the honey bee
consumes, relative to the other species.

Honey bees may account for more than half of insects using the flowers of many plant species,
meaning honey bees could remove a large share of the floral resources from Australian plants (and
so compete with native flower visiting fauna). European honey bees remove up to 80% of floral
resources produced from Australian native plants.

Taking southern parts of South Australia as an example, honeybees have been recorded visiting over
180 native plant species (approximately half of all plant species examined in this time). These plants
ranged from small herbs to large trees and included plants that used wind, insects, birds and
mammals for their pollination.

Another example is the kwongan sandplain areas of WA. Honey bees were recorded visiting 136
native plant species, which accounted for over 30% of the 413 plant species in the
Dbq Islamic Achievements Essay
Islamic Achievements Over the ancient years, the Muslims gathered ideas from many different
places. They generated their own visions of the world based on the thoughts that were inherited from
the Greeks, Rome, and India. In addition, they also evolved their ideas when they conquered many
different places, all depending on how that certain place was. The Muslims were able to deal with
many different cultures, allowing them to practice what they wished, thus giving themselves room
to envision their own. The achievements that the people from Islamleft behind was and is amazing,

Scholars also made advances in trigonometry, astronomy and mapmaking, and artists used
calligraphy to decorate buildings and objects of art as well as to reflect the glory Allah (Docs 5
and 6). In a photograph of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, it shows the different features used
from different cultures, such as the Byzantine Empire, as well as adding their own personal
touches (Doc 7). All of these were preserved and used in Europe, and are even used in today s
curriculum. A lot of ideas have also been altered just a little bit, and expanded to create things that
we use today. Everything that the Muslims passed on through many generations had a large
impact on our modern world, and even the places around the Islamic Empire during that time
period. A book mentioned before said In the early 800s, Caliph al Ma mun opened in Baghdad...the

The Importance Of A Group For Women At The Maintenance...
The addiction group that I would be interested in leading, using a Stages of Change perspective,
would be a Support Group for women at the Maintenance Stage of Change. The purpose of the
Support group would be to assist and support women to continue to maintain successful
behavioral changes, anticipating situations in which a relapse could occur and prepare coping
strategies to deal with stressful situations. The major focus would be relapse prevention and the
development of the skills that support and reinforce their own path in their recovery. When
developing a Support group that are a number of considerations needed when. One factor to
consider would be if the group was open or closed to new members. Open and closed groups have
their advantages and disadvantages, but in this particular group I would have a closed group
because, The regularity of membership tends to promote trust as the team works on change
together (Walters, et al, 2002). Another factor to consider would be the size and duration of the
group. This group would be up to ten participants and would run for 6 sessions. By allowing this
number of participants it allows for the following: people dropping out, people sick certain days,
small enough for people to learn from each other and small enough for participants to have the
ability to share and participate. A third consideration in developing the group would be If the group
will be mixed or homogenous in terms of readiness to change (Walters, et
Public Choice Theory And Public Choice Theory
Public choice or public choice theory means the use of economic tools to deal with traditional
problems of political science, it also tries to explain how public decision are made. It is directed
towards the study of politics based on the economic principles. The public choice theory is a strong
variant of the rational choice theory. The theory is concerned with the provision of so called public
goods, goods that are delivered by government rather than the market, because, as with air, their
benefit cannot be withheld from individuals who choose not to contribute to their provision. What
lies at the heart of public choice theoryis the self interest maximization theory. Public choice works
hand in glove with economics. Economics is the study of individual presences and the interaction of
those preferences with firms in market settings. As South Africa keeps on endeavouring toward
protected change, it appears to be suitable to inspect regularizing open decision hypothesis for bits of
knowledge that may be pertinent toward the South African established process. Regulating open
decision, regularly called established financial matters, involves a similar examination of the
standards and organizations that represent financial, social and political interactions. Constitutional
financial matters augments the business sector trade worldview to the investigation of tenets and
organizations. There is a crucial refinement between, from one... Show more content on

Families continued to grow and give birth to the next generations but there was always that gnawing
fear that one could become infected with the deadly plague and one could lose everything, money,
house, family, even their own life. For many, piety was the only weapon many had to combat the
deadly plague. Venice held strongly to their Christina beliefs and believed that although they were
smitten by God, they could be saved by God. Priests, parish leaders, clergy officials all called on all
of Venice to drop to their knees and pray anywhere, so that the deadly plagues killing thousands
may end. The lazaretti were great tools in separating the sick from the healthy and were used
many times as a place of retreat and houses of care when the plague struck. It rarely closed, and
