Explanation Of Coronary Heart Disease
Explanation of coronary heart disease.
Currently, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the United States and the developed
world (Sapolsky, 2004, p. 41). Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common form of
cardiovascular disease, which is killing more than 7 million individuals on an annual basis.
Disorder, which underlines CHD, is called atherosclerosis, process that involves inflammation of the
lining of blood vessels leading to progressive accumulation of macrophages, lipid, T lymphocytes,
platelets and smooth muscle cells in the walls of the coronary arteries. As a result, coronary arteries
narrow so that blood supply to the working heart muscle can decrease. Later, plaque, which is
made of fatty cells (cholesterol), forms on vessels that lead to the development of clumps of cells
and other material called thrombi. Atherosclerosis generally starting early in life and progressing
till people get older. Studies found that atherosclerosis can start developing between 10 and 14
years old (Hong, 2010). However, more people are affected by atherosclerosis in their 20s and 30s
(Swiech, 2013). Usually the disease occurs at the stage when the coronary arteries become blocked,
partly or completely. Therefore myocardium muscle becomes ischaemic as it is not supplied with
blood anymore. At this point person can experience pain in the chest, which is called angina, heart
attack or death. Unfortunately, about 47% of cardiac deaths are sudden and happen within 2

robert campin, one of the most punctual and best bosses of Flemish painting. he has been

Campin is viewed as one of the main craftsmen to display reasonable elucidations of his painted
subjects. alongside his cutting edge, Jan van Eyck, he additionally ended up noticeably one of
the first to explore different avenues regarding imaginative oil. Campin worked in the city of

Mission And Mexican Period Essay
The Mission and Mexican period is a difficult topic for fourth grade students to understand and
teachers to teach. But, one way I can teach students about the mission system and Mexican period is
through lecture and an interactive activity, like a play. Because by providing students with lectures
and illustrations, students can see and understand for themselves the different changes that occurred
through these periods and feel the impact of these changes through acting in a play. Before, teaching
students about the mission and Mexican period, I believe it is important to teach students about
California history before the arrival of the Spanish. I will teach the students about California life
before the Spanish through a lecture and providing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Informing the students the Spanish arrived to California to build missions and introduce a new
religion, converting Native Americans into Catholics. Showing all the 21 missions in California and
informing the students, The missions became the largest and most productive Spanish communities
in California...the early missions were tiny, tenuous settlements marked by stick, mud, marginal
agriculture and small neophyte populations (Eden, 91), and providing illustrations of the missions
and Spanish life. Students will then compare and contrast California before the Spanish and the
mission period. Analyzing the changes California went through before and during mission period.
After introducing the mission system, I will briefly explain the short Mexican period by
explaining how most California cities and streets received their names. For example, I will ask the
students, Has anyone walked on or drove by Sepulveda Blvd or Rancho Palos Verdes ? and Does
anyone know how these streets received their names ? Introducing them to the history of rancho and
pueblo society during the Mexican Period in

The Paradoxical Theory Of Change
A satisfied life is hard to achieve. There are many behaviors that can be beneficial in making a
more effective life. Some of these factors are personal and internal and some are external and
involve other people. An effective life begins on the inside. One must be aware of themselves.
Change is a key facet of learning and personal growth. The paradoxical theory of change: personal
change tends to occur when we become aware of what we are as opposed to trying to become
what we are not. To me, this theory of change means that we should beware of our strengths and
our weakness and work to change our weakness to strengths not to change our self to fit the norm
of society. We do not need to change to be like everyone else but to better ourselves. There are ten
rules of change. The ten rules include: all behaviors are complex, change is frightening, change
must be positive, being is easier than becoming, slower is better, know more, do better, change
requires structure, practice is necessary, new behaviors must be protected, and small successes
are big. Too many people change is intimidating. I have not experienced that many environmental
changes in my life. Coming to college is the first time that I am living on my own and not in the
only town I ve ever lived in. So far I am pretty adaptable to environmental changes, but I am not as
successful with internal changes. I am comfortable with who I am, but I know there are many
weakness and behaviors that need to be changed to have a better life. A hindrance to a life that we
desire is stress. Stress comes from internal and external forces. The key with stress is knowing
how you respond and what strategies help manage stress. Stress can cause physical complications
as well. Many people suffer physical pain from stress. I can sometimes get very anxious about
stress which feels like my stomach is tied in knots or the is a pile of rocks lying on my chest.
There is a disease that comes from stress. The disease from stress used to be called psychosomatic
which implies it was just in the head . now the disease is called psychophysiological disease. The
psychophysiological disease accounts for the consequences stress has on the body. I personally am
working on a way to
The Potato, Or The S. Tuberosum
CAUSE: The potato, or the S. tuberosum, is a tuberous crop that consists of mainly starch and water.
This particular crop originated in the Andes, a large mountain range that is situated South America.
The inhabitants of this wide diverse terrain, the Andeans, were the first persons to domesticate and
widely cultivate the potato. The Andeans cultivated an extensive variety of potatoes, due to the
difference in species that relied on several components; such as elevation and soil type. When the
Spaniards began their colonization of the Americas in the sixteenth century, they discovered the
Andeans usage of potatoes and advanced farming techniques. The Spaniards transported these
techniques and potato to Europe through the Columbian Exchange. After the potato was diffused
into Europe, it yielded effects that would influence Europe for centuries to come.
The introduction of the potato (cause) was one of the most influential events in European history.
This crop has numerous beneficial factors. For instance, the potato: has a relatively short growing
season compared to other crops. Because of this, the potato could be harvested earlier to avoid
unseasonable weather. has productive tubers (modified stems that store nutrients underground) that,
it tripled Europe s food supply and had the largest yield in comparison to other vegetables. contains
all vitamins and nutrients needed to sustain life → individuals became strong enough to fight off
infectious diseases. was extremely
Bringing Adam Home Essay
Bringing Adam Home Book Review
Abstract
Bringing Adam Home review examines the story of the decades long investigation into the
abduction and murder of 6 year old Adam Walsh. The police investigation took 27 years to prove
guilt of the serial killer, Ottis Toole, who made multiple confessions to the murder. The book is
written by the experienced detective writer Les Standiford with the help of the retired detective Joe
Matthews, who finally found evidence of Toole s committing the murder 27 years afterwards. The
case of Adam Walsh has influenced the American society in the way that legislatures were made
protecting children, and practices were adopted helping find missing and potentially ... Show more

As Reve Walsh put it: It was a sad thing for this country that the fight had to be led by two broken
down parents of a murdered child (Standiford, 2001).
The authors underscore that it could not be said that the Hollywood department was incompetent.
Rather that the case was too difficult, and Detective Hoffman turned out to be too snobbish not
only to ask for help but also to accept help from Joe Matthews when he offered it not once.
Hoffman was too unstructured and ill equipped for such mind bogging case (Standiford,
2001).Det. Serg. Matthews was a lie detector expert and an experiences homicide detective and,
being hired by the Hollywood, Fl, Police Department, he was very interested by the case and was
ready to use his knowledge to solve the case. Among other things, the difference in approaches of
two detectives was that Hoffman was obsessed with finding physical evidences linking Toole to the
Adam s murder; while Matthews believed that circumstantial evidence could make do in some cases.
That meticulous recount of all glaring mistakes of the Hollywood, Fl, police department and the
detailed description of their daily working life had its aim in showing that detectives work is far
from the glamorized TV series. Doing on a daily basis such boring chores as searching for a
person who moved and did not leave the new address, or surveilling a suspect for many days,
exhaust detectives, and the not very dedicated ones let things slide (Standiford,
Absolutism And Dualism
Around 1982, Swami Krishnananda wrote, There is an intensive urge to solidify matter into a
localised existence, which is what we call the ego. Throughout his collected works, he describes
the ego, as a form of energy converging onto a single point, similar to the eye of a hurricane. This
force or feeling that we exist as independent entities, which we are drawn to re affirm at every turn,
binds us to this focal point in space time, while it maintains an air of separation from the cosmos in
the deepest parts of our minds.
When a state of probability remains undetermined, we often feel compelled to define it. We desire
certainty, so we obtain it through whichever way we see fit, even when it is unattainable or harmful
to do so. When we imagine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cosmic laws do not!
The law of cause and effect is often considered to be the first governing principle of the universe.
However, there are forces that precede this. (Forces that also precede Karma, the law of cause and
effect on a moral spectrum) Longing, for example. Desire propels material life. It is the force that
drives cause and effect. It represents our urges to seek as well as enjoy the pleasurable. It motivates
us to avoid pain, along with our innate need to anticipate its occurrence pre emptively.
First things first, what is force? Force is the interaction of the fundamental elements of our universe.
The elements that form the basis of our material domain. These are the substances that cannot be
reduced to smaller parts. Even though they originate from a single source, their foundation cannot be
adequately verified outside the realms of experientially gained information. In spite of the fact that
even then, they evade cognition through the mind or description through language. Our senses
cannot yet perceive their all pervading base (unless we are trained to do so or the occurrence is
spontaneous but meets specific criteria and often occurs within certain
Mysterious Entities Of The Pacific Northwest Part 1 Summary
Mankind s imagination has always been excited by the possibilities of unknown regions (Nickell,
109). In the article Mysterious Entities of the Pacific Northwest Part 1 , Joe Nickell explains the
possibilities of pseudoscience, a presented scientific belief that is not yet scientifically valid, as well
as the possibility of hoaxes. While there have been many claimed sightings of paranormal activity
such as Bigfoot, Ghosts and the Loch Ness Monster, there has not been evidence to prove these
claims as real. Almost everybody has heard their share of ghosts stories and the myths behind
Bigfoot and the Loch NessMonster. These stories are universally shared, and recently, people have
provided evidence claiming to have seen such mysterious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the first to witness a true sign of a paranormal activity is a dream for many people who
believe that humans are not the only ones in the universe today. With the amount of publicity and
beliefs that come with pseudoscience, people start to become delusional because of their want to
witness a UFO or the infamous Bigfoot. When one is in an area that is said to contain the
possibility of UFO s, such as the Northwest, the possibility that a UFO will show up can be
deceiving and lead people to depict objects in the distance as such phenomena. In Nickell s second
article, the Mysterious Entities of the Pacific Northwest Part 2 , a pilot claims to have a seen a
group of UFO s, when further investigation revealed that the objects turned out to be pelicans. A
veteran Northwest Airlines pilot who has flown over the Pacific Northwest s flying saucer country
for 15 years spotted nine big round discs weaving northward two thousand feet below us. Capt.
Gordon Moore stated, We investigated and found they were real all right real pelicans (117). This
claim was made soon after two scientists Arnold and Johnson claimed to have seen numerous
amounts of UFO s while flying in the Cascade Mountains. The short duration of time between these
two claims shows that your brain can play tricks on you when trying to witness pseudoscience. Had
the possibility of UFO s never been brought up, Moore, the pilot, would probably never
My Aunt Julie Is One Of The Most Amazing, Sweet, And...
My aunt Julie is one of the most amazing, sweet, and hilarious people I have ever met.
She has the most beautiful and kind soul. She was also born with a severe mental and physical
handicap called Cerebral Palsy. It is a condition that occurs when the brain hasn t completely
developed at birth, in Julie s case she was born prematurely and was also a twin, making her even
smaller and more frail at birth. Julie was born not breathing and the doctors couldn t get her to
start breathing for 5 minutes after she was born. She is now in her early fifties, but only has the
mental capability of a 78 year old child. She has been in a wheelchair for her whole life and never
even taken one step, she also has very minimal control of her arms and hands. Julie also has a
very hard time controlling her temper and her emotions, I can only assume that it is because she
feels as though she is trapped in her own body and will never be able to get out of it and feel free.
Julie has this crazy love for Nascar and has never missed watching a race. Everyone has their little
obsessions, for my six year old nephew it is toy cars, my older brother it is playing the guitar, for me
it is Cadbury Eggs, but for Julie it is Nascar races and the Nascar driver Dale
Earnhardt JR. In 2013 my mom and I had decided to take Julie to go see the Daytona 500 in
Daytona Florida. This was such a huge deal for Julie because she had never been out of the state of
Utah let alone on a plane halfway across the country,
