The Tragical History Of Doctor Faustus
In Marlowe s play, The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, Christianity is painted in a negative light.
This reflects the disillusionment with religion that Marlowe and other Renaissance men had as a
consequence of the conflict between Catholicism and Protestantism that occurred during the
Protestant Reformation. Through Faustus s lines, Marlowe was able to air some of his less than
pleasant views about Christianity. Even in the first act, Faustus s opinion of religion is made clear.
Philosophy is odious and obscure; both law and physic are for petty wits; divinity is the basest of the
three, unpleasant, harsh, contemptible and vile. Faustus is more than just disillusioned with
religion; he is disgusted by it. It s understandable how he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faustus sees God as cruel and without mercy. Through this, one can conclude that Marlowe may
have held similar views. Marlowe s low opinion of Christianity comes through in ways other than
Faustus s words; it also shows in the events of the play. Act three scene one is entirely devoted to
making fun of the Catholic church. In this scene, Faustus and Mephistopheles wreak havoc on a
banquet held by the pope, who seems to care more about his dinner than he does his divine duties.
Indeed, almost every line spoken by the supposedly holy man is about food. He, and by extension
organized religion as a whole, is painted as greedy and gluttonous: two deadly sins. This makes
Marlowe s opinion of the catholic church quite clear. As the scene goes on, a group of priests
begins a holy dirge in attempt to oust the pesky spirits disturbing the banquet. Cursed be he that
stole away his Holiness meat from the table... cursed be he that took away his holiness wine. This
ritual, as opposed to being solemn and holy, seems petty and secular. Furthermore, it reinforces the
pope s gluttony. After the dirge is completed, Faustus and Mephistopheles chase the priests offstage,
beating them and throwing fireworks. The prayers of these holy men are shown to be utterly
ineffectual, and the friars themselves are made out to be clowns on the receiving end of slapstick
comedy. From this, it is possible to draw the
The Availability Of Legal Aid
Justice is at the heart of a democratic society. It means laws should apply equally to all, and that
everyone should have the right to a fair trial. It is part of our rights as human beings and we ought
to be able to bring our dispute before an independent judge for them to be settled. This essay seeks to
look at the availability of legal aidin the 21st century and if it is still open to all, like the ritz hotel
like suggested by Sir James Mathew.
What does access to justice mean, if not a fully FUNDED legal aid system? Is it a noble
aspiration that should lift our hearts, or is it a load of meaningless tosh peddled by politicians
and lawyers to suit their own self serving ends? . Before we can begin to look at Legal aid and its
excerpts, we must explore Access to Justice and what it means in relation to the subject matter.
Access to justice means knowing and being able to enforce your rights and duties, having access
to courts and tribunals. Access to justice is not the same principle with legal aid, rather access to
justice is the principle of being treated fairly according to the law and if you are not treated fairly
being able to get appropriate redress . That doesn t just mean access to lawyers and courts. It means
access to ombudsmen, advice agencies and the police law. It means public authorities behaving
properly. It means everyone having some basic understanding of their rights. It means making law
less complex and more intelligible .

The Use of Nonfinancial Measures to Assess the Likelihood...
Abstract
For auditors, failing to detect fraud at their clients is usually accompanied by substantial monetary
penalties and/or negative publicity. Thus, the profession has re evaluated its fraud assessment
processes and has attempted to find new ways in which material misstatements due to fraud can be
identified. The purpose of this study is to determine whether auditors can effectively use
nonfinancial measures (NFMs) in their analyses of fraud. Given that auditors can identify NFMs
(e.g., facilities growth) that should coincide with financial measures (e.g., revenue growth),
inconsistencies between these two variables may be indicative of higher fraud risk. The results show
that all of the respondents believed that financial measures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To put it succinctly, if auditors take at face value everything they see or hear, they are not doing
their jobs. A final reason auditors don t uncover fraud is because they frequently don t use the
analytical tools that are available to them.

In times past, when analysis was difficult and time consuming, perhaps auditors could not justify the
additional effort (Joseph T. Wells, copyright 2003).
The use of NFMs in the evaluation of firm performance has garnered much attention since Kaplan
and Norton (1996) published the The Balanced Scorecard. For firms that fraudulently misstate their
financial statements, it is unlikely that they will (or have the ability to) concurrently misstate NFMs
that are indicative of their true financial condition.
In another study conducted by Brazel, Jones and Zimbelman in 2005, they concluded that NFMs can
convey new information not previously contained in financial statement variables that have been
found to be correlated with fraud. In addition, their study showed that NFMs can be used as
benchmark against which the auditors can compare actual revenue to enhance the effectiveness of
their analytical procedures during fraud risk assessment.
Oftentimes, auditors look at the financial measures as the basis in detecting the likelihood of fraud
in the firms being audited. This strategy has been proven to be effective most of the time. Financial
measures primarily are the core features that firms and outside parties (e.g.,

Women During The Babylonian Exile
Many people often acknowledge the men that contributed to establishing the foundation of the
Church. There have been great men such as Peter and Paul, whom will never be forgotten in the
Church s history. Meanwhile, the women who helped the church become a whole are often
overlooked. It is not only men who build the church, for women also play a role in establishing it
as well. While men indeed play a very significant part in spreading the Good News, women should
also be recognized more often for their faith and courage to follow Christ. In early history, the
involvement of women in any activity was overlooked. They were not allowed to take part or
comment on anything. Society viewed males as being dominant over their families.... Show more

Once Jesus of Nazareth was born, and the New Testament was written, women began to play a larger
role in the church. Although men such as Peter were still significant, women became more involved
in the establishment of the Church. In the four Gospels, there are many accounts of women that are
exceptionally important in the Church. Mary Magdalene is one of the most prominent figures in the
Gospels. She is one of the women who are present in every Gospel. Therefore, one can say with
certainty that Mary Magdalene was one of Jesus true followers. Although the disciples were known
as Jesus main followers, it was the women who in reality stayed with Jesus from his arrest to his
resurrection. In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 8 says that Mary was cured of seven demons that she
possessed by Jesus (Lk 8:2). After the cleansing of her soul, she began to follow Jesus and preach
the Good News. Mary Magdalene is one of the most well known figures in the New Testament
because of her loyalty to Jesus. In contrast to the disciples, she stayed by Jesus side. In fact, it was
to Mary, to whom the angel appeared to in the tomb after the resurrection. On the third day, Mary
Magdalene and a few other women went to the tomb to prepare Jesus body. Once they arrived, they
were surprised that Jesus body was not in the tomb. In that moment, two angels appeared to the
women to remind them that Jesus was to be crucified, but then resurrect. The women were
astonished, yet they told the

The initiative provides opportunities ranging from guided tours to open air performances, took place
across Europe every year in September. It was a collective initiative managed by the European
Commission and the Council of Europe, in close coordination with national coordinators.
The European Heritage Days aim to raise awareness of Europe s cultural richness and diversity, to
increase appreciation of Europe s cultural heritage, and encourage greater tolerance for other
cultures across Europe. They invited all of Europe to respond to the social, political, and economic
challenges of the culture sector. The European Heritage Days, launched in 1985, take place in the
fifty signatory states to the European Cultural Convention, putting new cultural treasures on display
and opening up historic buildings normally closed to the public. European Heritage sites are
milestones in the creation of today s Europe. To walk through one of these sites is to experience
European values and civilization in the making. These sites celebrate and symbolize European
integration, ideals, values and history. They are cautiously selected for their symbolic values and the
roles they play in the European history and the activities they offer in order to bring the European
