Wall Steet Movie Review
The definition of business ethics is described as a company s attitude and conduct towards its
stakeholders employees, customers, stockholders, and so forth; ethical behavior requires fair and
honest treatment of all parties. The word ethics is defined as standards of conduct or moral behavior.
The movie Wall Street, was the exact opposite of these definitions. The movie shows examples of
hostile takeovers, insider trading, greed and unethical behaviors in the attempt to build fortune on
the all mighty dollar. The movie focuses on the stockmarket and the way inside information is used
to make decisions to build cash and profits at the costs of others. It portrays the decisions one may
make when faced with the temptation of green... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie is based off the uncertainties of the stock market. People are investing money in hopes
of turning profits but just as it is uncertain losses are also realized. But the more risk you are
willing to take, the higher the reward or pay out can be in the end. This does not only apply to
money but to your actions. In the movie Buddy Fox and Gordon Gekko were willing to risk fines and
jail time in order to gain information to make their returns on investment close to certain.
This movie also taught the lesson that you should always know what you are doing with your money
and if you do your research and homework, you will know what you re investing in and it can bring
higher success. You should never jump into an investment without knowing what you re actually
getting into. You should know what you re investing, the beta tied to the investment and the reward
you are looking to gain. Researching and finding these answers can definitely lead to smarter
investments. Jumping into investments blind and uneducated can lead to loses in money.
Wall Street had a high focus on stocks and bonds. It had some obvious correlations to business
finance as well as subtle lessons. These lessons was a great way to take the words of the text
book, Essentials of Managerial Finance and put them in front of your eyes to see exactly how these
aspects in the book can be applied to reality. This was my first time watching this movie and the
Examples Of Hypocrisy In Huckleberry Finn
Worlds collide as two unlikely companions join forces on a quest for freedom. Mark Twain s The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, details a picaresque storyline following the harrowing escape of
Huck, a young boy, from the claws of his abusive father, and Jim, a runaway slave, from the
looming threat of the slave trade. Twain, using the Mississippi Riveras the main setting of the novel,
ingeniously applies the art of satire and irony to depict the hypocrisy of the era through the many
adversities that the two companions face along the way. Conveying a serious message in an
entertaining manner, the satirization of greed, religious hypocrisy, and society in Mark Twains The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finnunite to form the overall theme of human... Show more content on

The scene after Colonel Sherburn shoots Boggs has particular satirical edge to it. When Sherburn
killed Boggs, the townspeople felt the need to lynch him for his actions. Sherburn then comes out
with a gun and starts berating the townspeople. The pitifulest thing out is a mob; that s what an
army is a mob; they don t fight with courage that s born in them, but with courage that s borrowed
from their mass; and from their officers. (142 Twain) He is basically saying that none of them
would be able to stand up to him by themselves, and that the only reason that they are all there is
because they were following the crowd. He believed that as individuals, they were all cowards. By
the means of Sherburn, Twain satirizes the concept of lynching, and that individuals are prone to go
along with whatever a crowd says as opposed to what an individual thinks or deems as right. This
strengthens Twain s message of human cruelty by pointing out that large groups of people have a
tendency to act irrationally and cause people to do things that they would not otherwise do as
Kernberg s Theory Of Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is one of the four personality disorders in Cluster B.
These four personality disorders are tied together due to similar symptoms. People with a Cluster
B personality disorder are often viewed as overly emotional, self dramatizing, and unstable. The
other three Cluster B disorders are antisocial, borderline, and histrionic. NPD is characterized by
a pattern of grandiosity, a constant need of admiration, and a lack of empathy for others (Frey,
2012). According to Kernberg and Kohut, the roots of NPD can be traced to disturbances in the
parent child relationship before the child turned three years old (Frey, 2012). However, Kernberg
differed from Kohut in that Kernberg believed that NPD was rooted in a defense by the child
towards an unempathetic and cold parent (Frey, 2012). This paper will explore Kernberg s theory
as it applies to NPD and its treatment. As well as examine the neurobiology and diversity of NPD.
Theory
A person s character or personality is made up of various traits (Hertz, 2011). Some of those traits
can be adaptive and useful in one situation yet dysfunctional in another (Hertz, 2011). A person is
diagnosed with a personality disorder when these character traits become so maladaptive and
inflexible that they begin to cause significant impairment in occupational or social functioning or
cause subjective distress (Hertz, 2011). As previously mentioned, some of the most common
characteristics of NPD include having a constant need for admiration, grandiosity, and a lack of
interest in anyone but themselves (Marissen, Brouwer, Hiemstra, Deen, Franken, 2016). Other
patterns of NPD include a very high sense of entitlement, arrogant, and feeling like they are very
special and can only be understood by and associate with other high status people like themselves
(American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Working with clients with NPD can be quite difficult as
they tend to feel like they can only work with a therapist that is the best, meaning that the therapist
has to be worthy of working with them. Clients with NPD can often be rude and have a difficult time
depending on the therapist which makes it challenging to work with them as they want to maintain
Analysis Of George Moore s The Catcher Rye
George Moore For most people, the death of a relative causes a period of despair that can last a
lifetime. In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher In the Rye, an adolescent s tightly knit relationship with a
family member results in a long lasting impression on his life; Holden, a young, psychologically
lost youth struggles in life after the recent death of his brother, Allie. While he was alive, Allie
maintained a positive outlook, assisting Holden in retaining not only his innocence but his
happiness. Thus, after Allie s death, Holden strayed away from these aspects, after losing not only
his brother but his lifeline to peace, reinforcing Salinger s notion of how a major event can dictate
large changes in mentality. As Holden describes his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this he was young and playful. This was everything that Holden desired to be in
society. So when Allie died, Holden lost his connection to a feeling of innocence. This causes
him to be frustrated, and remove himself from society. This is shown above when Holden
isolates himself in the garage. However, even though Holden is strongly against society he does
recognize that it holds some value. But, because of Allie, he will never forgive the world he lives
in. He was so innocent and close to Holden that his death continues to impact Holden throughout
the story. A quote to illustrate this is, It was a very stupid thing to do, I ll admit, but I hardly didn
t even know I was doing it, and you didn t know Allie. This quote illustrates the point that
although Holden recognizes the action was foolish, he realizes that it was necessary to express
his contempt for what had been taken away from him. He will never be the same, and will always
be frustrated with society for his loss of Allie. But, even though Allie may be permanently gone
he is still with Holden. Holden expresses regret and is upset whenever Allie is brought up. What I
did, I started talking, sort of out loud, to Allie. I do that sometimes when I get very depressed. He
even gets depressed to the extent where it s everyone in his life s fault that he lost Allie. His
depression and contempt for society pop up whenever Allie is mentioned. This tells us as readers
that Holden has deep regret over
The Weaknesses Of Marcus Brutus In Shakespeare s Julius...
At the end of William Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar, it was Marcus Antonius that said upon Marcus
Brutus death, This was the noblest Roman of them all... . I would have to agree with that
statement for many reasons. Though, what I ve seen as his strengths, there are some that also
serve as his weaknesses. Brutus lives by a strict moral compass and code of ethics entwined with
a rigid sense of idealism. All of which are great virtues but are also deadly flaws. Brutus acts out
of a desire to limit the self serving aspects of his actions. Ironically, however, in each instance, he
dooms the very cause that he seeks to promote, which does no one any good. Also, his commitment
to principle repeatedly leads him to make mistakes. In the play, where
The Big Shift By Darrel Bricker And John Ibbitson
The thesis put forth by Darrel Bricker and John Ibbitson in The Big Shift: The Seismic Change in
Canadian Politics, Business, and Culture and What It Means for Our Future , is premised on the
notion that the Laurentian Consensus has ended due to its reluctance to accept the changes that
Canada has gone, and will go through. They argue that their resistance to change created an
opportunity for the Conservative party to become the new natural governing party in Canada(Bricker
Ibbitson, 2013). By recognizing and acting on these changes, the Conservative party built a platform
for success which lead to the outcome of the 2011 federal election. They argue that the seismic shift
in the demographics of Canadian voters from one side of the political spectrum to the other granted
Conservatives this victory. This paper will explore the flaws within their argument, and the extent to
which this shift is perpetual in nature.
The Laurentian Consensus can be defined as the collective rule by those along the St. Lawrence
River including Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec political, business, academic,
cultural and media elites. This long standing coalition, closely linked with the ideas and values of the
Liberal party has been the reigning power in Canadian government over the last century. The authors
emphasize that the Laurentian consensus coming to an end signifies a shift from old to new Canada,
with new values emerging and political fundamentals have fallen into

The Power of Love Encodes Our World

Imagine yourself in a world in which the profound emotional need of affectionate love was non
existent. If that world somehow came to existence, what would then be the purpose and meaning of
our lives? Now ask yourself, could you live a life with no purpose? Although the purpose of life is
entirely subjective to each individual, a reoccurring theme of love has been expressed through stories
over thousands of years suggesting that the need for love is deeply rooted within our very own
being. Metamorphoses, a Latin narrative poem written by Roman poet Ovid, draws attention to
change and social cohesion mainly by transfiguring characters within the poems. By examining Ovid
s Metamorphoses, specifically Book IX, glimpses of social cohesion through the reoccurrence theme
of love have been brought to light. Ovid bases these poems on deep emotions of affection contrary to
rational thinking while suggesting an encoded purpose of life: the need and search for deep
affectionate love. While examining the poems within Book IX one can understand that a flashing
insight into love encodes our world through the fundamental relationship between the sexes and
therefore unifies our society by creating a sense of identity and purpose. Examining these two
encodings will exemplify the understanding and discovery of what suggests as being the purpose of
life. Although the poems
Testing the Effectiveness of the CCTV Cameras in West Palm...
INTRODUCTION
In recent years, there has been an intense proliferation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
surveillance cameras in the United States, as well as abroad (Caplan, Kennedy, Petrossian, 2011;
Gill Spriggs, 2005; La Vigne, Lowry, Markman, Dwyer, 2011; Piza, 2012; Ratcliffe, 2006; Welsh
Farrington, 2009). In Great Britain alone, the expansion of CCTV systems is well documented
(Armitage, 2002; Gill Spriggs, 2005; Welsh Farrington, 2009). This vast expansion can be traced
back to the Home Office in Great Britain, where they issued a call to law enforcement agencies to
use CCTV related initiatives as a viable crime prevention strategy (Painter Tilley, 1999). In 2002, it
was estimated that there were over 500 CCTV systems, with approximately 40,000 cameras in
operation in the United Kingdom (Armitage, 2002; Gill, Rose, Collins, Hemming, 2006). Today
those figures continue to climb. Farrington and his colleagues (2007) estimated that Great Britain
now has over four million cameras in use, or one for every 14 people, more than any other country,
(Farrington, Gill, Waples, Argomaniz, 2007, p. 22).
In the United States a similar expansion is evident (Caplan, Kennedy, Petrossian, 2011; La Vigne, et
al., 2011; Piza, 2012). Camera systems have been in operation in many different American cities,
including Chicago (Babwin, 2007), Baltimore (La Vigne, et al., 2011), Cincinnati (Hurley, 2002;
Mazerolle, Hurley, Chamlin, 2002), Newark, NJ (Caplan, Kennedy
