Identify The Different Types Of Volcanoes
There are three types of volcanoes on earth. They are composite, cinder cone and shield
volcanoes. They are all over the world and depending on what kinds of volcanoes they are they
would be in different areas because some volcanoes have little lava and some have a lot that can be
very dangerous if they were to irrupt.

The first type of volcano is the Composite volcano. This type of volcano has cinders, lava flows and
mixed with gravel like sand. Hollywood types are easily recognized, many are located in popular
areas; Vesuvius, Krakatoa, Fujiyama, and Mount St. Helens.

The second type of volcanoes, are Cinder Cone volcano. These types of volcanoes are mostly loose,
grainy cinders and almost no lava. Cinder Cone volcanoes are
The Importance Of Walking Under Steady State Conditions
The current knowledge available from the literature on walking at different speeds assumes a direct
relationship between the level of activity of lower extremities muscles and speed. Several studies in
the past have looked into this relationship for walking under steady state conditions. In this section
we review these studies and their findings and we highlight limitations of their approaches and
discuss the suggestions to expand the analysis to walkingunder transient conditions.
Hof et al. [21] were one of the first groups to measure surface electromyograms (EMGs) from
subjects walking at different speeds. Five speeds were instructed for over ground walking and
EMGs were measured for ten walking steps at each speed. Parts of EMG profiles showed
considerable changes with speed while other parts did not show any changes. The authors
suggested that the activity at any speed could be estimated through a linear interpolation of sum of
the profile at the lowest speed and a function that represents the increase in the activity per unit
increase of normalized speed. One limitation of the calculations here was lack of statistical tests.
Because of this shortcoming the linear interpolation model could be used to make reliable
conclusions only about the effect of speed on the activity in the vicinity of the peak of each signal.
Without building the confidence intervals we cannot infer the effect of speed on activation profiles
over the entire gait cycle. In addition to lack of
The Italian Culture And Its Impact On Western Culture
Italy, European nation with a long Mediterranean coastline, has left an intense stamp on Western

Baseball Pastime Essay
Baseball is considered America s Pastime, but why is that? Throughout the history of the United
States baseball has been there right alongside of the country, through thick and thin baseball has
been there for the people of the U.S. Because of some of the greatest player personalities, a long
and deeply rooted history with the U.S, and its founding ideals being similar to that of America
itself, baseballhas made itself the pastime of American culture. The history of baseball is a long
and rich one, and no one is truly sure where it originated. Baseball may have actually been created
in America yet it got its roots from European sports such as Cricket. Although cricket is one of the
earlier versions of baseball when compared these two are completely different sports with
different rules, advantages and disadvantages. Games resembling baseball had been played in the
Americas as early as the 1700 s. At one point it was widely believed that a man named Abner
Doubleday invented the game in 1839, and then went onto become a civil war hero, this went as
far as the MLB putting the Hall of fame in Doubleday s hometown of Cooperstown New York, but
later it was found out that this was completely false, and was only based on the claims of one man.
The modern set of rules which was created by Alexander Joy Cartwright is known as the
Knickerbocker rules (named after the team Cartwright played for, the New York Knickerbockers.)
The first officially recognized game was played in 1846
Gay Rights Persuasive Speech
The bestowed rights of humans have been distorted throughout time. Regarding all who deserve
the same privileges as others, compassion is not shown with respect. Given that times are
changing, it is only right that everybody follows suit and makes the necessary alterations to
equalize all humans. I believe, if individuals are more informed on Gay Rights such as marriage,
adoption and the military discussion of Don t Ask Don t Tell (DADT) maybe we can fight to give
same sex couples the opportunities that the rest of the population have. The first and topic to
establish a more equal world is same sex marriage, collectively known as Gay Marriage. Marriage
throughout time has been instituted as opposite sex only unions. As of... Show more content on

Vermont was the first state to permit civil unions in 2000 (HRC, 2011). Civil Unions are only
recognized in states where they are preformed. But there are states that recognize the union no
matter where it is performed. The states that permit the recognition of those unions consist of
Rhode Island, Maryland, California, New Mexico and New York. They have also vowed not to
discriminate against marriages formed in sanctioned states. There are roughly 24 states that are
completely anti gay rights. Outside of The United States, the very first country to legalize
marriage was The Netherlands in 2001. Though they only accept the union if one of the members
is Dutch. There are seventeen other countries in Europe who have legalized gay and lesbian
marriage. Outside of Europe, South Africa and New Zealand accept the matrimony. Many
countries in The Middle East have made it punishable by death to be homosexual (HRC, 2011).
Judging by the knowledge I have acquired, it seems that most of the world will only grant
marriage between a man and a woman. My answer to the ongoing debate reckons to state that
everybody, no matter your orientation, should have the same rights. The last topic we can discuss
in gay marriage is the ethics of it. The religious aspect states marriage should be between a man and
a woman. In Leviticus chapter twenty verse thirteen it says if a man also lie with mankind, as he
lieth with a woman, both of them have
Zeitoun, By Dave Eggers
In the novel, Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, the main character, Abdulrahman Zeitoun, is an immigrant of
Syria who stays in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and is arrested due to the suspicion of
looting, but really is arrested because of his race and how he looks. Zeitoun s faith and loyalty to his
community and home is tested through the many obstacles of Hurricane Katrinaand including his
religion, racism, and his very own dignity. The author, Dave Eggerswho is also the speaker in novel,
proves all examples of Zeitouns challenges credibly in the text.

Quote 1: Zeitoun s grandmother had stayed put during countless storms in her home on Arwad
Island, and he planned to do the same. A home was worth fighting for. (Eggers, 70)

Eggers shows in this quote how Zeitoun refuses to leave his home of New Orleans with his
family. Eggers portrays that even though a house may seem replaceable, Zeitoun still chooses to
not leave his home like his family who did not leave their home land of Arwad Island. The author
also shows the symbolism of Zeitoun s refusal to leave is like his assimilation coming to America.
The symbolism of Zeitoun s refusal to leave also shows how dedicated he is to his new country of
America and refuses to give up when faced with discrimination. Eggers proves that Zeitoun continues
fighting for his home in the United States.

Quote 2: Look above you, at the stars and moon. How do the stars keep their place in the sky, how
does the moon rotate around the
Abc Model of Crises Intervention
1 ABC Model of Crises Intervention Linda S Dallas Kaplan University Prof: Patricia Grace
HN220 01: Prevention and Crises Intervention 2 Although not everyone that comes across a
stressor in life will experience a crisis, some are unable to cope with the stressor in a healthy
manner and eventually succumb to a crisis. If this person does not receive the adequate crisis
intervention during this state, he or she is likely to be unable to function at the level he or she had
been functioning before the crisis. This will inevitably lead to additional crisis scenarios for every
stressor they must face in life. This pattern can go on for many years until the person s ego is
completely drained of its capacity to deal with reality; often... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Substance abuse issues also need to be addressed and in that case, adequate treatment would
include detox and/or rehab services. Finally any medical concerns that may have arisen are also
of concern and should be dealt with immediately. For instance, if since the event the client has
become a hoarder or compulsive sex addict, these issues must also be dealt with appropriately.
There are many methods of coping treatments available to your clients in today s day and age. 4
Most traditional forms of coping treatments are those such as support groups or 12 step groups,
individual or family therapy, legal aid, or even reading self help books. Preventative techniques
of coping help the client prepare for future stressors in their lives and thus help them to be more
able to cope with these stressors in a normal and healthy manner. I would most likely recommend
the client to meditate daily in order to remain calm. I would also tell them to envision any
stressors that can ever possibly arise and to already plan how they would react to it. For instance,
if a client is scared that their husband may need to have a surgery performed, I would tell them to
decide how they would deal with it if it does happen. By doing so, they will already begin to face
their demons and it will not
E Books Vs. Books
E books are digital versions of traditional books which are available online and are

readable on other electronic devices or computers. While, traditional books are paper books

available at libraries or book stores. E books came into existence in 1930. The godfather of e

book was Bob Brown, who named it as Readies . According to Desiree Dreeuws, in the

1960s, computer scientists developed what were called hypertext editing and file retrieval

systems, which involved document hyperlinking and graphics. These systems are considered by

many to be the first e books. Since then there has been an immense growth in technology

world, which also boosted the usage of e books in the world. However, there has been still a

huge argument on why e books are better than the books and what makes them so different yet

very useful to humankind?

There are always questions leading to e books because of its rapid growth in a short time.

Technologies have a bright future and they are going to have growth in most aspects. According

to Stephen king, The future is going to be what the future is going to be. So no matter how

difficult it gets to switch from a book to an e book, people would have to do it to keep up with

the progressing world. Despite of this, many people from age group of 60s or above still choose

to read paper book, the traditional way. However, most of the youngsters and the elderly people

have switched to e books from their paper books. The

In the first chapter, Chiyo observes, we both had the same peculiar eyes... almost never see in
Japan (Golden 9). She has beautiful translucent gray eyes as compared to the regular dark
brown eyes of her sister. It is these beautiful eyes that trigger her journey of becoming a geisha.
When she encounters Mr. Tanaka as she goes for incense, he compliments the color of her eyes. He
soon sees them as an opportunity to sell her to okiya to work as a geisha. The anguish starts soon
after the visit to Mr. Tanaka s home where they are sent and change from one stranger to the next
without being fed nor being told where they are headed; they are treated like luggage. Her eyes
save her from being sold to the pleasure city like her sister. In addition to her beautiful eyes, she
is also very ambitious and wishes she could get the chance of becoming a geisha. She
acknowledges she will face many challenges along the way which are likely to change her but
nonetheless she is prepared for them. When she was going through a difficult time, she reflects
how closed her eyes tightly and brought her hands together praying that the members of the okiya
let her become a geisha; she then though how her training would subject her to suffering but she
was ready to brave all that so that she could attract the Chairman (Golden 114). When Chiyo
makes these remarks, her life is on a downward spin asMother has stopped her training as a geisha
and has instead made her a servant at the okiya. As if that is not enough, her fellow geisha,
Hatsumomo torments her constantly and is skimming to have her thrown out of the okiya. The
cost of being a geisha is high and one has to find ways of coping. At the beginning of the book, she
explains how she is forced to practice what she calls a Noh Smile that is frozen such that it lets
men understand whatever they wish
Effects Of Weight Training On Bone Formation
This article by Mehrzad Moghadasi and Sadri Siavashpour, published in the European Journal of
Physiology, focuses on the effects that weight training has on bone formation. Their target study
group were young and mostly inactive women. The purpose of this article was to study and analyze
if weight training had any effect on the hormones that affect bonegrowth in women. These hormones
include estrogen, testosterone, parathyroid hormone, and growth hormone. All these hormones affect
bone growth and are secreted using a negative feedback control system that is affected by how
active an individual is. It has always been said that physical activity can help in bone growth and
another purpose of this study is to determine the validity of that... Show more content on

The specific hormones that will be measured include estrogen, growth hormone, testosterone,
parathyroid hormone, and IGF I. The method of study involves 20 young females around 25 years
old with regular health. These individuals have not had any active exercising in the last six months
and also have no health conditions that would skewer the results. Participants were first familiarized
with what machines were to be used and the proper form for each type of training. The study
focused on eight major muscle groups including chest press, leg extension, shoulder press, leg
curls, latissimus pulldown, leg press, arm curls, and triceps extension. Resistance training
consisted of 50 60 min of circuit weight training per day, 3 days a week, for 12 weeks. This
training was circularly performed in eight stations and included two to four sets with 8 12
maximal repetitions at 65 80 % of 1 RM [one repetition maximum] in each station (Moghadasi
Siavashpour, 2013, p. 26). There was a warm up before the exercises started and a small break
between each station. The results showed no change in each subject s body mass, body mass index,
and waist to hip ratio. The significant change in body measurements between the control group and
resistance training (RT) group was the percentage of body fat. There was a decrease in the group that
was actively exercising throughout the study. At baseline, the two groups had similar
Exploring the Main Concepts of Advertising
How many of you listened to the radio, watched television, or glanced at a magazine before
school this morning? Whether you realized it or not the minute you pressed the power button or
flipped the cover page you were exposed to some sort of advertisement. Defined as any paid form
of communication by an identified sponsor, advertising dominates a huge part of our daily lives.
Living in such a consumer driven economy means that we deal with subliminal and up front
messages pushing us to buy, buy, buy , countless times throughout our day. Most of these messages
are sent by identified sponsors including major corporations like Wal Mart, as well as smaller run
businesses. No matter the size, all modern day businesses employ workers to... Show more content

The success of these advertisements must be measured. Marketers often conduct surveys and
questionnaires to pull information about their products from the marketplace. Information gathered
like this for a specific purpose is known as primary research. Marketers can draw a lot of valuable
knowledge from primary research. Such as images and ideas consumers associate with certain
brands, a concept known as brand image. Primary research also evaluates levels consumer
satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their
decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent purchase. This regret often
corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you
most likely think less about buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to
Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod offers
multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider
relative to the price they are willing to pay. In this sense, buying Cheetos requires far less consumer
purchase involvement then the purchase of a new iPod. All of these factors contribute to the overall
satisfaction associated with a product. The results of conducted primary research help marketers
decipher elements of their advertising strategy that need tweaking. Essentially, the advertising
History And Culture Of Peru
Peru is located in South America and is about the size of Alaska. It has an area of 496,226 square
miles and was first believed to be inhabited by migrants from Asia in 6000 BC. These inhabitants
relied on hunting and the collection of plants and fruits to stay alive. Small communities were
established by 5000 BC, and the farming of cotton, chili peppers, squash, maize (almost identical to
corn), and beans initiated. The early settlers populated mostly near the coast which allowed them to
utilize the wet climate to plant seeds. Peruwas also one of the first places where potatoes were
grown. The Peruvian cuisine consists mostly of spicy dishes. Chili ( Aji in Spanish) is the most
common spice in Peru. It is used to give foods extra flavor.
