The Issue Of Substance Abuse Essay
It is well known that any form of substance use can be fatal, but so can a lot of other things:
choking, accidents, health issues, and sheer bad luck. However, there is something special about
substance abuse fatalities from substance use are considered preventable. Take deaths associated
with driving under the influence of alcohol, lung cancer brought on by smoking, or heart attacks
associated with cocaine use. A person could die in a car crash, from lung cancer, or a heart attack
without ever touching alcohol, cigarettes, or cocaine respectively. However, there is an increase
in death associated with these items. The most curious part of this is the legal versus illegal
categorization of substances. According to the Center for Disease Control, tobacco is considered
the leading cause of preventable death (CDC, 2016). Yet, not only is it legal, a person in the U.S.
can purchase cigarettes as young as 18, which is three years earlier than the legal age to drink
alcohol. This knowledge leads to questions about addictionand prevalence of substance use. Besides
being readily available and highly addictive, are there other factors in the use and abuse of legal
substances and are they good indicators of illicit drug use? There is clear evidence to support that
children, adolescents, and adults learn and emulate what they see on television. The American
Academy of Pediatrics has done research and come to the conclusion that the causes of adolescent
substance use are
Nestle Kitkat
Today Neslte is the world leading Food Company. Their headquarter is still in Switzerland where
it was founded by Henri Nestle in 1866. At the moment, Neslte has almost 500 factories in 86
countries and they employ around 328.000 people. The factories are operating in: Africa,
America, Europe, Asia and Oceana. So it s a real multinational. Last year it was even listed no.1
in the fortune global 500 as the world s most profitable corporation . Nestle has a wide range of
product across a number of markets. Like coffee and healthcare nutrition. But also pet food. It s
very various. Here you can see some famous brands of Nestle, including Nespresso Nescafe
Pellegrino and so on. And of course KitKat!... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These commercials were very popular and typical KitKat. But KitKats image is not flawless. In
2010 Greenpeace accused Nestle for using palm oil from companies that are destroying
Indonesian rainforests and the live hoods of Orang Utans. Greenpeace released a video
commercial in that same typical KitKat style, in order to raise awareness among the KitKat
consumers and to ask them to give the Orang Utan his well deserved break. It is a pretty in your
face video in which the chocolate fingers of KitKat turn out to be the fingers of an Orang Utan
and the crème filling is its blood. I will show you the video. As response, Neslte insisted on
removing the video from YouTube. But this gave the Greenpeace campaign only more publicity.
It even went more wrong when Nestle deleted the angry comments on its own Facebook page and
ignored angry Twitter reactions. This was causing a big commotion. The outrage was great and
the image of Nestle and especially for KitKat was damaged. It even cause a degrease on the value
of the shares. Eventually Nestle recovered itself by making a statement on their website where they
announced that they only will work with sustainable palm oil suppliers from now on. This was a
huge victory for Greenpeace and the social Networkers. And Neslte has learned from this; They are
much more active on social media
Potential Of A Sunscreen Aimed At Surfers
Executive Summary
This report looks to analyse the potential of a sunscreen aimed at surfers in New Zealand. The
product is called Sun Screen, which immediately tells the consumer its purpose. The company has
positioned itself as a manufacturer of goods for surfers made by surfers. It seeks to make
products that are affordable to consumers of all incomes, due to the diverse demographic make up
of surfers. The key objectives of the report are to create product awareness around the Market. To
cover sunk costs by the first 12 months and to distribute to 50% of New Zealand retail surf shops by
this time also. It aims to increase the quantity purchased per year from once to twice whilst
increasing units sold in the first 6 months by 30%.
The strategic marketing plan has found that the target market ranges from 13 59 year old male and
female New Zealanders. From this it was assumed, based on the Australian market, that 1/20 of this
segment surfs, totalling a potential market size of 143,857 people. At $24.99 a unit, this would
estimate potential market revenue of $3,594,986; this is promising for the product.
It was found that in order for the product to be successful, the marketing mix would need to be well
positioned to target this market. The product needed to be of a large serving size, high sun
protection, and high water resistance for a fair price. The price skimming strategy would allow the
company to cover sunk cost in the first 12 months, and decrease after to beat
Future Technology For E Health Systems
Abstract Lot of research has been done on Human Activity Recognition(HAR) in the last decade
and HAR is expected to be future technology for e health systems. Here, I discuss various models
built using SAS® Enterprise Miner™ 14.1, on a free public domain dataset containing165,633
observations and 19 attributes and compare each model with another. Data used in this discussion,
represents the metrics of accelerometers mounted on waist, left thigh, right arm and right ankle of 4
individuals performing five different activities recorded over a period of eight hours. Finally, I
propose a Stepwise Logistic fed AutoNeural model to recognize human activity. The accuracy of the

There are prospects of developing assistive technologies to support care of the older adults using
research work on HAR. E Health systems like AAL can be developed by using patients routine
data provided by activity recognition. The most common methods used to recognize human
activity are image processing and usage of wearable sensors. Though image processing doesn t
require patient to wear any equipment, it has some major problems such as requiring installation
of cameras and good light. In addition, its operations are restricted to indoor environments and
users have privacy concerns. The use of wearable sensors has addressed all these problems, but
requires wearing of equipment by the user for long durations[1]. In this paper, I discuss various
models built using SAS® Enterprise Miner™ 14.1, on a free public domain dataset containing
165,633 observations and 19 attributes and compare each model with another . Data used in this
discussion, represents the metrics of accelerometers mounted on waist, left thigh, right arm, and
right ankle of 4 subjects performing five different activities. These activities, such as sitting down,
standing up, standing, walking, and sitting, recorded over a period of eight hours of four healthy
subjects is used for our analysis. Data Data was collected from accelerometers mounted on waist,
left thigh, right arm, and right ankle of 4 subjects while they were performing five different
activities. This data was
Tiantis Research Paper
The 178 year old city, Tiantis, was founded in 2158. It was previously known as Miami, a very
popular tourist stop. Located in southern Florida, it boasts a population of about 468,000 people,
not including tourists. The city is located by the coastline of Florida and includes a passing river
that eventually heads to the Gulf of Mexico. A delta that leads directly to the beach on its coast is
here. This popular cityhas a warm climate of 70 80 ̊ Fahrenheit in the summer, only dropping to 65 ̊
Fahrenheit in the winter months. The main source of income is from tourism and education at the
university. In order to protect the environment, Tiantis also does not run of the typical fossil fuels, it
runs on Sewage Fuel. All food is grown organically and locally in the agricultural center. Compact
and oval shaped houses are used for citizens. In general, Tiantis is a bustling place with many earth

In addition, many families stay here raising children, running businesses, leading tours around this
city, and studying or teaching at Wales University, visiting the many tourist attractions, and just
relaxing. Transportation is achieved by biking in the Velo city, walking or running on the pedestrian
roads between buildings, or the Voyager.

The Voyager is a subway like vehicle that travels at speeds exceeding 75 mph located beneath the
Velo City. It is more efficient because it is run completely by automatons so delays will never
occur concerning weather or a human error. This is an option for the elderly, disabled, younger
kids, and people with acrophobia, and anyone else. It is located above ground, attached to the
bottom side of the Velo city. Powered by the energy harnessed from the Velo city created when
people walk, bike, and run on it, the Voyager doesn t require other electrical
The Farm Of Many Faces
The Farm of Many Faces Polyface Farm is a sustainable, organic based farm located in Shenandoah
Valley, Virginia. It currently is run by four generations of the Salatin family, but the man with the
most influence is Joel Salatin, who was named the worlds most innovative famer by Time
Magazine. Joel and his family took some extremely eroded and worn out land and transformed it
into the innovative, high field, symbiotic based farm it is today through their unconventional ways.
Today they serve upwards to 6000 families, 25 restaurants, and 10 retail outlets all within a four
hour radius, to keep it local and within their food shed.
This isn t the first time I ve read and talked about Polyface Farm and each time I genuinely enjoy

Polyface holds very similar values to both the farms within The Good Life and The Dirty Life.
The Nearing s weren t too big on the idea of feeding the community as much as they were in to
self sufficiency, but they did heavily rely on the natural system with in their way of life; planning
everything according to seasons and relying on organics. They also believed in the importance of
educating on the subject and allowed people to come, stay, and learn, just like the Salatins. The
Essex Farm has much more in common principles wise. Kristen and Mark s goal was that they
wanted to feed their community good, clean, healthy food, just like the Salatins. Kristen and Mark
achieved this through sustainable practices and dedication to what they love. They maintained their
CSA without advertisement and also focused on the importance of soil health just like the Polyface
farm does. I believe that the Polyface farm is different in a sense that they have dedicated most of
their efforts into creating and maintaining the symbiotic system that occurs within the farm, in
contrast to the farms in The Good life and The Dirty Life.
On Polyface, community is such an important aspect towards the Salatins goals; to provide good
quality food to their food shed. The members who buy from the Salatins are all located within 4
hours of the farm in order to keep their products local. They refuse to mail products so instead they
Haircolor Research Paper
As we age, our hair and skin lose pigment, which leads to grey hairs. Grey hairs, also known as
canities, are extremely hard to cover due to the resistance of the hair cuticle. Like a door that has
been sealed shut, the cuticle of a grey hair takes additional effort to open. This means that the
product must work to the best of its ability in order to deposit the color into the hair. Decades ago,
haircolor was quite harsh. The damage preventing ingredients in haircolor today, such as water
soluble silicon and other conditioners, were not found in yesterday s haircolor. This gave many
women mixed feelings about coloring their hair. They wanted the results, but they felt guilty for
damaging their hair. Fortunately today, many color lines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While many clients are comfortable coloring their hair monthly with permanent haircolor, others
wish to do one of two other things: either use a demi permanent haircolor to, essentially, blend the
grey hair with another tone, such as blue or red, or they choose to lighten their hair in order to get
that platinum white or silver look they desire. Some even chose to, essentially, camouflage the grey
by highlighting areas around the grey spots. Some women wish to avoid the ever binding
commitment to permanent haircolor and just want to go grey gracefully, altering the appearance of
their grey. They want to simply wake up in the morning, quickly shower and do their hair without
taking much time on it, and then head off to work or school. Their busy lifestyles leave them
wanting perfectly tousled hair which can be achieved with little or no effort. The client s desire to
adapt to the inevitable grey hair allows hairstylists to be more creative. After all, slapping on the
same permanent haircolor every month is not nearly as entertaining as figuring out intriguing, new
ways to make the client s hair look stunning and
