John P Morgan Essay
After the American Civil War, the industry of American began to grow and new technologies and
ideas were developed. John Pierpont Morgan, an American financier and banker, helped with the
financing of many industries such as the railroad, steel, and electric industries. However, he used
his wealth and power to control and buy out businesses. Morgan was a robber baron who is a
person who profits off of an industry or people by means of ruthless and unfair business practices
for their own personal gain. John P. Morgan, who was born in a wealthy family, started his career
as a banker. He later became a financier and helped invest in multiple industries such as Carnegie
Steel, General Electric, and various railroad companies. He became influential... Show more content

Morgan posed on America was his influence in the government. Morgan s wealth and power in the
US economy by his monopolies were a source of concern for the people. In 1893, a financial crisis
in America that threatened the U.S. Government Treasury s gold reserve was relieved by Morgan.
Morgan formed an organization to help resupply the government s gold reserve (The Editors, ¶ 4).
However, his purpose to help resupply the government s gold reserve was not only to protect the
economy, but his monopolies as well. If the gold reserve was to be depleted, it would have caused a
detrimental problem for Morgan s profits from his monopolies. Even though Morgan attempted to
maintain his monopoly in corporate America, he came face to face with Roosevelt s decision to bring
down the monopolies that threatened
Effects Of Migration And Refugees Affecting The UK
How is migration and the refugees affecting the UK?
Introduction
I am going to be writing about the positives and negatives of the immigration which is occurring
in the UK and how it is affecting our daily lives and wither Brexit is a good or bad thing. At the
moment I think that immigration isn t as bad as people believe it to be and should not be the
reason to support Brexit as many people already do. However, I will be doing a non bias research to
prove my point or change it. This image is from .gov.uk
Difference between Migrants, refugees and asylum seekers
Firstly, these 3 are very different to each other. A migrant is simply a person who moves form a
place to live for over a mainly to find work. The Guardian claims that The International
Organisation of Migration estimates that 232 million people a year become international migrants
and another 740 million move within their own countries. Work isn t the only reason that
someone would move as they could also seek a better lifestyle or education or even flee
prosecution from their own country. Those from outside the EU will need a visa to enter the UK
and a reported 690,000 have arrived into the UK in the past 12 months according to The Guardian
once again. A refuge is someone who has left their home place due to armed conflict. Due to the
1951 refugee convection someone who is recognised as a refugee cannot be sent back to their home
place as its too dangerous they are also given a social housing, benefits
Minimally Processed Foods
Heavily processed foods make up 59% of calorie intake in the average American diet. Food is
meant to provide nutrients that humans need to live and stay healthy. Modern day processed foods
practically defeat the purpose of food because they provide little nutrients and can cause various
illnesses in humans. These negative health effects are primarily caused by the toxic chemicals that
are hidden in food. Sadly, the majority of Americans eat processed foods without considering the
toxic chemicals the food contains.
Chemicals are found in almost every processed food there is. What is their purpose? There is no
one answer to that question. Some chemicals are used to enhance the color and appearance of food
like certain types of dye. Others are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of a chemical in food is Carrageenan. Carrageenan is a chemical introduced to the
United States in the 1930 s that is used as a food additive, an ingredient in laxatives, treatment for
peptic ulcer disease, an ingredient in certain types of toothpaste, an ingredient in various air
fresheners, and many other things. Carrageenan is considered GRAS (generally regarded as safe)
despite all the negative health effects it has shown on animals when given an injection of this
substance. Animals injected with carrageenan developed multiple types of tumors and the injections
also caused sarcomas along with multiple other complications. Carrageenan is used to replace fat,
increase solubility, and enhance texture of various foods. This chemical can be found in numerous
things such as low calorie drinks, infant formulas, various dairy products, and many more processed
foods (Tobacman). Another chemical called benzene is a carcinogenic substance that is toxic when
humans are exposed to it in high amounts. This substance was found in small amounts in various soft
drinks and in a later study in a cranberry juice. Although benzene was used in a small amount, long
term exposure could lead to health complications (Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition). In
addition aluminum is found in cheese and can cause gluten sensitivity along with other health
complications. Additionally, processed meats contain
Stress In Dogs And Owners
Stress in Dogs and their Owners

As a dog lover, owner and trainer, it is important to be able to know and identify the signs of stress
in dogs to make sure they are living their best lives. Similarly, understanding and recognising stress
in owners is also important in case it arises in classes. This will help in making sure both dog and
owner are enjoying and learning during the class and to avoid conflict in class.

Stress is caused when an individual is unable to cope with pressure, usually emotional or mental.
Symptoms of stress in dogs can manifest themselves in many physical forms, such as the following
(Burch and Bailey, 2008; Miller, 2012; Rugaas, 2006):
Anorexia: decrease or loss of appetite
Appeasement behaviours: lip licking, grinning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, too overexercise and overstimulation can also cause stress in dogs. Balance is key in
regards to the amount of exercise and mental stimulation a dog needs.

All these reasons for stress are caused by the dog feeling threatened, in pain or discomfort (Rugaas,
2006). Knowing this, it is best to try and make the environment as comfortable for the dog as is
reasonable for a puppy class. This is not to say you should cater to their every need, it is important
for puppies to be socialised, experiencing new things in a positive way. However, it is worth
keeping an eye on what it is that stresses the dog out and if the stress continues or intensifies as
classes continue, to try and remove that source of stress from the pup s
Comparison Of Depression In The Big Sur By Jack Kerouac
Depression affects 350 million people and is the leading cause of disability worldwide. Everyone
deals with depression a different way but it is not easy, the best way is to see a professional and
talk about it to try to let it all out, but most people come up with their own way. Depressed modern
poets such as Jack Kerouacand Sylvia Plath tried to shock themselves into reality and heal their
depression and feelings about certain subjects with alcohol and electroconvulsive therapy but could
not. They both decided to chose the outlet of poetry and release their negative feelings by writing
about similar themes. This becomes evident when one draws similarities between themes such as
isolation, nature and loveproven by examining The Big Sur by Jack Kerouac and many poetic
works from Sylvia Plath. Being a popular poet can do alot to one, and if ones fans only care about
their work and not their true feelings the artist tends to feel isolated.

When one is depressed he/she tends to isolate themselves. Kerouac and Plath both do this when they
are writing. In many of Plath s poems she writes about her loneliness, and in some she even tells
God. Plath is so depressed that she associate s life with loneliness, which proves that Plath feels
she is isolated God, but life is loneliness (Under the Night Starry Sky, Plath). Plath feels empty, she
feels useless, she is tired and just wants to relax, this proves that Plath is giving up and she is so
upset with her life that she does

Postmodernism and Identity in Haruki Murakami s Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the
World Since the Age of Enlightenment, the ideas of identity and consciousness have been explored
by philosophers, psychologists, writers, and more. Since then, the definition of what identity is has
changed and evolved, leaving the true, overarching definition unknown. In his novel Hard Boiled
Wonderland and the End of the World, Japanese author Haruki Murakami explores the ideas of
identity and the consciousness through ideas brought up by postmodernist philosophers and
psychologists such as Karl Marx, C.G. Jung, and Sigmund Freud and uses them to create
characterization, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Jung, One function of consciousness is to maintain the relationship between the ego
and the unconscious (Laughlin, Tiberia, 131). To understand this completely, we must look at Jung
s ideas involving the consciousness. Jung believed that the consciousness is comprised of
innumerable archetypes defined as a very typical example of a certain person or thing that we have
by simple virtue of being human. Then depending on how and what the person experiences some of
these archetypes will develop into networks, known as complexes. Finally, one will gain dominance
of the consciousness and is called the ego complex. This brings us back to the point made earlier,
that one of the functions of the consciousness is to maintain the relationship between the ego and
unconscious. Basically, what Jung is saying is that there is two personalities in the human mind. One
is called the ego, and the other is the unconscious. Freud said the same thing, calling it the ego and
id. But that is what the story arcs in the novel stand for. The Calcutec has a very well developed
unconscious, which is something many people don t have. So instead of not knowing the
personality in his unconscious, he sees it as a coherent story in which he is a completely different
story. It is mentioned in the arc of Wonderland that he actually doesn t know when he is one or the
other until the Professor explains it all to him.
Something a reader notices upon reading the novel is the
Talking Animals
Talking animals is a device used by the authors where animals are attributed with human qualities.
Anthropomorphic animals can cook, read, write, speak, behave and feel like humans. This special
device used by the authors of Children s Literature is called as anthropomorphism. The present paper
attempts to examine the role of the young anthropomorphic mongoose Rikki tikki in Kipling s short
story Rikki Tikki Tavipublished in The Jungle Book(1894). The short story uses talking animals to
send a message in a simple way that can be understood by the child readers.
Animals have been a vital part of human lives since times immemorial. Human beings are
surrounded by animals. Animals have not only been domesticated and tamed but have also become ...

Mcdowell describes Children s books as:
Children s books are usually shorter, they tend to favour an active rather than a passive treatment,
with dialogue and incident rather than description and introspection; child protagonist are the rule;
conventions are much used; the story develops within a clear cut moral schematism... children s
books tend to be optimistic rather than depressive; language is child oriented; plots are of a
distinctive order ; probability is often discarded; and one could go endlessly talking of magic,
fantasy, simplicity, and adventure (qtd. in Reynolds 26).
Children s Literature is replete with animal characters. Animals of every variety populate picture
books, comics and short stories. Generally the animals that figure in the stories of children are
depicted as having acquired human qualities and intelligence and are located amidst a social set up
which is familiar to children. This special device used by the writers of Children s Literature is
called anthropomorphism. Talking animals or anthropomorphism is a special device used in
Children s Literature to attribute human qualities to plants and animals. Anthropomorphic animals
can speak, write, read, dress, feel and behave like
