Serpent Bound Essay
This project s aim is to produce a collaborative archeological study of Serpent Mound. The goal of
the project is to use applied archaeology to understand Serpent Mound through oral histories of the
descendant community, the Eastern Shawnee of Oklahoma, and traditional archaeological methods,
creating an updated narrative about Serpent Mound that can be accessed by the public.
Archaeological methods utilized will be done with the Eastern Shawnee of Oklahoma as to show
them how archaeology explains Serpent Mound s construction. This project accepts that Serpent
Mound was constructed ~2,300 years ago by Adena people, and will use this narrative when talking
about the site from an archaeological perspective.

The final product of this project will be a revamped Serpent Mound museum and ... Show more

The website will also include virtual tours of Serpent Mound and the museum displays. The oral
histories of the descendant communities will be embedded via audio and also displayed through text
on the website.

Additionally, the information of a revamped site museum and website will be sent out to
surrounding school systems and community members. It is imperative for students to learn and
claim an identity of a site steward by engaging and familiarizing with the site. Additionally, the
informational flyers will contain all the information needed to set up field trips and visits to Serpent
Mound.

Overall, the voice and knowledge of descendant communities and the archaeological understanding
of Serpent Mound will be easily accessed by all ages through in person or virtual field trip. The
products express Serpent Mound s significance to the public and allows for more knowledge of the
site and site protection. Increased preservation of the site allows future populations to visit and study
the mound, and for the Eastern Shawnee people to continue to have cultural ties to the
Analysis Of The Lost City Of Petra
The Lost City of Petra She believed the city hidden in rock would protect her from the past. Until it
threatened to destroy her future. As one of the most spectacular sites of the new wonders of the
world, the city of Petra was once a deserted area of land with nothing but stone and sand, later
transformed to a thriving environment for 30,000 Nabataeansto live their day to day lives. In being
built by the Nabatean architects as early as the 5th century BC in Ma an Governorate, Jordan, many
individuals continue to pose great questions such as, how the sight was carved and how there
barely any signs of erosion. These wonders lead historians to focus on the various aspects of the
most crucial element of every site: its geography. In particular, was there any reasoning behind its
location to be hidden on the side of rocks and long trails? Why was it carved into the sand stone
rather than just constructed piece by piece as the ancient egyptians? How did they take advantage of
their location through techniques in Civil engineering? More importantly, while the city is diffused
around the dry landscape of Jordan, many argue that there are perfectly logical reasonings as to why
the Nabatean architects chose to use the uninhabited location.
The Location of Petra Of the numerous concerns architects have in regards to this Rose City, the
location chosen by the Nabataean nomads is one of the most frequent questions. Why would anyone

Introduction:

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the system (or agent) responsible for resolving Domain
Names (such as www.google.com) to IP Addresses (such as 212.0.130.23), which is required to
make the Internet usable. This resolution list is distributed throughout the Internet in a hierarchy
of authority. There s normally a DNS server hosted by ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to serve
their clients (Rouse 2005). The basic operation of DNS in a single Internet resource request is
shown in Figure 1 (AFNIC 2009). It functions like a database that is distributed over DNS
machines that interact with each other to be able to respond to a user s query. The top of the DNS
hierarchy contains the top level domains, such as .com, which are controlled by top level DNS
servers. The DNS server implementation which is used for this paper is BIND, which is the most
widely used DNS server implementation on the Internet today.

The Attack Surface of the DNS System:

The following are the general categories of attacks on DNS Servers, in terms of the nature of the
vulnerable target, which give the attacker the ability to impact on the normal behaviour of the DNS
Server and the Internet:

DNS Protocol and Software Bugs specific attacks

DNS Infrastructure Attacks

The first category of attacks concerns vulnerabilities within the anatomy of the DNS protocol and the
software implementation of the protocol. The second category of attacks concerns

observe the target Government_Funding(US) s relationship with the other variables. Other variables

an average $84,990.67 federal funding with a maximum of $173,43. Illinois receives an average
$67,879.70 federal funding with a maximum of $125,234. Depicted in the next chapter, California,
Florida, Illinois, and Texas were grouped, in a cluster, with the least at risk demographics;
however, these states are receiving most of federal funding for prevention programs (Figures 10,
11, 12). Two different clusters were created ((Figures 10, 11, 12) after the variable clustering node
ran. The first cluster grouped the death_black and death_allnonwhite variables with most of the
Midwest, west, south, and mid Atlantic states, while the second cluster grouped variables
death_white, death_female, death_male, and death_bothsexes with most northeastern states
(Figures 11 12). As mentioned above, California, Florida, Illinois, and Texas are grouped in cluster
1 with the least death toll populations but are receiving the most federal funding when it appeared
their demographic population did not need a lot of funding compared to cluster 2. Also, in cluster
one and two, the variation explained shows that 54 56% of increased federal funding can explain
the increase in drug abuse related deaths (Figures 13 14). Results, from the Segment Profile
James Madison s Accomplishments
James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, was conceived on March 16, 1751 to
Nellie Conway Madison and James Madison, Sr. in Orange County Virginia. He was the eldest of

College of New Jersey, later known as Princeton University. He exceeded expectations at his studies,
graduating right on time in 1771. He was slight and debilitated, on the other hand, and endured an

Madison played a main part at the Constitutional Convention, drafting the Virginia Plan which turned
into the premise of the U.S. Constitution. With regards to the Constitution amid the pivotal time of
its approval by the states, Madison wrote a progression of papers with Alexander Hamilton and
John Jay which got to be referred to by and large as The Federalist.

Amid the presidential organizations of George Washington and John Adams, Madison turned into a
noteworthy pioneer of the Democratic Republicans alongside Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson s
professional French legislative issues and trepidation of a solid, business concentrated government
drove him to differ with the Federalists in the legislature. Madison wedded the youthful dowager
Dolley Payne Todd on September 15, 1794.

With Thomas Jefferson s decision in 1800, Madison moved from Congress to the official branch as
Secretary of State. In this office, he administered the obtaining from France of the goliath domain
known as the Louisiana Purchase, which for all intents and purposes multiplied the span of the
United States. Madison was chosen president in 1808 on the Democratic Republican ticket. The
years of his administration were possessed in terms of professional career debate between the
United States, Britain, and France. Madison asked his kinsmen into war against Britain. The War of
1812 started and finished under his locale; the Treaty of Ghent was marked on Christmas Eve,
Correctional Officer
A Correctional Officer supervise arrested persons awaiting trial and convicted criminals serving time
in penitentiaries, jails, and reformatories. One primary role of correctional officers is to avert
attacks, escapes, and other disturbances, ensuring inmate accountability and security. Outside of the
jail or penitentiary where they work, correctional officers have no policing duties.
Correctional officers working in for sheriff and police departments in local and county jails and
precinct holding facilities are also known as detention officers. Counties manage about 3,300 jails in
the United States; 75 percent of those are operated under the authority of an elected sheriff. The

Firearms training is necessary for corrections officers even if they do not typically carry them during
their professional duties. Prison guards in close proximity with offenders generally do not carry
firearms, but still must maintain proficiency in case of emergencies or if they are assigned to
perimeter tower duty. This training may include use of pistols, rifles and shotguns. Proficiency in the
use of these firearms must be regularly demonstrated through qualifying tests; in most states, re
qualification must occur annually.
In service Training Almost all departments of corrections limit exposure of new officers to high risk
populations. In order to instruct new hires in common procedures and protocols, they usually work
through a probationary period that may be between several months and two years in length. During
this time, senior correctional officers closely supervise probationary officers, instructing them in the
details of their responsibilities. During this period new officers may work with minimum security
populations to acclimatize to prisoner

Music and the Sixties Essays
Music and the Sixties

What the music of the late 1960s and early 1970 are attempting to achieve is a protest to the U.S.
government. From the lyrics of Neil Young s Ohio performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young,
the vocalists are memorializing the incident that occurred during a protest about U.S. involvement in
the Vietnam War in Kent State University where nine students were injured and four students were
killed by the Ohio National Guardsmen who opened fire on unarmed students:

Tin soldiers and Nixon s comin,

We re finally on our own,
This summer I hear the drummin
Four dead in Ohio

Got to get down to it.

Soldiers are gunnin us down.

Especially in a time when there is a conflict with another country, one must need music to help
meditate and get through these times of crises. Simon and Garfunkel s Bridge Over Troubled Water
is a good example of a music that helps soothes the soul:

When you re weary, feeling small

When tears are in your eyes,
I will dry them all
I m on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can t be found

By searching for the top ten movies of the 1970s and comparing them to the top ten singles of the
1970s, one may notice that the top ten movies also dealt with the many issues other than the Vietnam
War. For example, M*A*S*H, Patton, and Catch 22 were all movies that dealt with war even though
some did not take place in Vietnam while others movies
Clubfoot Essay
CLUBFOOT

Clubfoot is defined as a congenital foot deformity characterized by a kidney shaped foot that turns
inward and points down. The forefoot is curved inward, the heel is bent inward, and the ankle is
fixed in planter flexion with the toes pointing down. Shortened tendons on the inside of the lower
leg, together with abnormally shaped bones that restrict movement outwards cause the foot to turn
inwards. A tightened achilles tendon causes the foot to point downwards. The medical term for
clubfoot is talipes equinovarus . It is the most common congenital disorder of the lower extremity.
There are several variations, but talipes equinovarus being the most common. Clubfeet occurs in

The majority of clubfeet results from abnormal development of the muscles, tendons, and bones
while the baby is forming in the uterus. Genetic and environmental factors in the development of the
fetus seem to also be some of the causes. The disturbance of the normal growing foot probably
occurs at about the eighth week of pregnancy. The cause of the foot growing deformed is unknown,
but believed to have something to do with heredity. Many cases of clubfoot do not have easily
identifiable causes. The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain as normal as a foot as possible.
The extent of the required treatment varies, depending upon the rigidity of the foot. Treatment may
take several months, but most children learn to crawl, stand, and walk at the normal age. There are a
couple different ways to go about treating clubfoot, the two most perfered being manipulation and
casting, and surgery.
Clubfoot is most common in children who suffer from spina bifida who have an L4 or L5 motor
level. Many orthopedic surgeons instead of serial casting suggest early taping and gentle
manipulation followed by an application of a well padded splint. The reason for this is because
serial casting can cause skin irritations and breakdown. Another technique manipulation and casting
is a treatment that begins shortly after birth. It involves slowly stretching out the tightened muscles
and holding the foot in an improved
