Greek Theater And Its Impact On The City State Of Athens
When considering ancient Greek life, theater was massively important. This is apparent by the
Theater of Dionysius placement in the city state of Athens, with its close proximity to the Acropolis
and the Parthenon. The Acropolis by definition meant the high point of the city state, and was on a
plateau. Its raised status highlights its importance, thus radiating that importance onto nearby
structures as well. Although the Greeks valued rational and reason, they also valued their emotional
side as well. All plays were dedicated to the god of emotion Dionysius. Much of what we know of
the comedic aspects of Hellenic Greek theater productions comes from the plays of the playwright
Aristophanes. Aristophanes plays express to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compared to the way Athenian women were presented in Lysistrata, Aristophanes sticks to the now
known facts of their lifestyle fairly closely. In the play s opening, Lysistrata, our female protagonist,
calls women from not only her home of Athens, but as we all the Spartan enemy and other places to
meet in and is upset at their untimely arrival. Her neighbor Calonice appears and reassures her
they will come eventually, but they are simply delayed due to having to care for their husbands,
household, and children. In contrast, Spartan women were educated, participated in sports, and
had little to do with the upbringing of their children. In fact, they only had contact with their
husbands for sexual relation purposes. When the women finally arrive, Lysistrata inquires how
many of their husbands are gone away to war. Some of the women reply their husbands have been
gone for months. Lampito, a beautiful Spartan girl, expresses she is unhappy because her
husband comes home and no sooner grabs his shield and chargers off again. Though according to
our textbook, Spartan women were free to remarry if her husband was gone away to war for too
long. Thus begins the flaws in Lysistrata s plan of how the women will force the men to claim
peace. On the home front, war had a massive effect on the women and children left behind by

on Pinterest With the proliferation of the internet and the acceptance of the many ways to
communicate online or over mobile devices, work from home careers have seen a boon in recent
years. It used to be common that someone who worked from home was considered a slacker or
someone who really did not have a job. Today, more and more people are working their high
profile jobs with very large companies from the comfort of their own home. Of course we all can
see the obvious benefits of working from the house. No commute so you can get to work on time
every day. You also have the ability to work at whatever hour you prefer although most companies
have strict hours that require you to be online, you can flex your schedule a little bit to what works
for you. There are also some negatives to working from home. Some people do not have the ability
to separate their work from their home life so you have to be very responsible and a self starter to
make working from home work for you. As long as you have the drive and skills, you can excel in
several work from home careers that are available today. Lets
Essay on Triumph of The Nerds
Akshay!1 Akshay Jain Professor Susan Hubbard Computer s Impact on Society 11 September 2014 !
The Blunders of Computer Giants historically affected their Economy. The remarkable contribution
and digital competition between the computer giants historically affected the economy of the world
wide industry. The inception of an innovation, aimed at proliferating the productivity of the
contemporary technology on a global scale, encouraged the nerds to establish digital empires that
continue to thrive today. Computer Giants contributed in the economic boom, thereby increasing the
employment, sales, and the commercial demand in the market. The crucial and the careless mistakes

The relationships and collaboration for developing a product, between these computer giants
were quite interesting. Another Computer Giant IBM wanted to develop a PC with a thinking
of making it open architecture by using off the shelf components. Gary Kildall, the guy who had
OS called CPM, refused to contribute with IBM, of which IBM was in need of. IBM and
Microsoft came for making a PC as Microsoft had software and OS with a person whom they
knew, he was Tim Patterson. It was called as The Floridian Project . Microsoft paid SCP $50,000
for OS as Tim was working for them. And for more chunks of profit, Microsoft sold the licenses to
each computer for $50. After selling those PCs IBM gained 50% of the market. Though IBM was
taking over the market, their some careless mistakes made them suffer. IBM did not buy the OS
from Microsoft and did not prevent him from licensing it other computer giants. It was matter of
time and other companies took on IBM. Even hardware suppliers of IBM such as Intel(CPU),
Compaq started selling their own PC. The only thing that was proprietary to IBM was ROM BIOS
but that too was legally acquired by competitors through reverse engineering. IBM market was
shrinking and they suffered from economical cutback. Akshay!3 Lastly, the Computer Giants in the

Animals want People to Stop the Cruelty
Animal cruelty has been going on for years at a time. With the illegal hunting of animals and cruel
test given upon them it makes you wonder if anybody really cares about what is being done to
animals. Author of Animal Rights, Human Wrongs , Tom Regan, discusses the cruelty of what
several animals go through and what people are doing about it. In this selection Regan tries to
appeal to the emotions of the reader, gives facts on the things that are being done by people to
animals, and tries to establish his credibility in the reading.
Though Tom Regan writes about an important topic, there is very little credibility shown throughout
the document. When discussing the whaling incident, Regan takes the account of an unknown man
whose name is not even mentioned throughout the reading. It is also unknown if this person is
someone trustworthy enough to give a truthful statement about what really happened during the
whale hunt situation. The same thing happens again when Regan gives an example of another
person experience with how cruel people are to animals this time dealing with the gibbon. The
person who described what happened during the hunt to Regan name was given, but we have no
knowledge of if this person is trustworthy enough to give an accurate account on what happened to
the gibbon. Throughout the reading Regan gives more examples of the inhuman practices that
happen to animals but with very little ethos to back up his claims, readers may not think of him as

The Myth of Money and Success

The American Dream is different for everyone, though it is most commonly associated with
success, freedom, and happiness. The concept of the American Dream seems to have dwindled
from where it was in the past few generations. It has gone from success, freedom, and happiness to
having lots of money and the nicest possessions. In today s society, we all hope and strive for this
dream, but how many actually achieve the American Dream? Is it a reasonable goal that Americans
should strive for, or is it a myth that only leads to self destruction? According to Horatio Alger and
Toni Cade Bambara, they both believe the concept that the American Dream ... Show more content

Today, as well as back in the 1800 s when the story was written, most people s dreams are to
achieve success. This formally became known as The American Dream . Although this may seem
strange for everyone to have the same idea, it really isn t when you look at it with an open
perspective. Each and every person s perception of success is extremely different and individual,
which makes everyone s dreams different. There may be people who strive for big goals, and
there may be others who take it one day at a time, achieving happiness on a less formal level. In
comparing the time period of the story to our society today, there are many similarities and
differences to consider. According within the world we live today, people tend to set much higher
goals and expectations for themselves, whereas, in Ragged Dick, it was more of a day to day type
situation. When people set smaller, more realistic goals, it results in more happiness and comfort
in their lifestyle. However, in today s world, Americans have become so incredibly competitive
and successful, that the standards have been significantly raised to the point where personal
happiness is no longer good enough. After reading a novel like Horatio Alger s Ragged Dick, you
subconsciously make yourself realize the important underlying message that he is trying to portray.
To me, this message is to always be optimistic, and no matter how bad your life is, it can always get
better if you are honest,
Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It
revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill
wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters
each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else
with the actions each character takes. Ethan Fromeas the title character perhaps has the most
important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and
decisions. Marriage, loveand desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding Ethan
Frome as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define every step
of his journey from beginning to end.
To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his
decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came
to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long,
Zeena s volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken
balance and magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led
Ethan to a kind of bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s funeral, he
was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to stay
The Neurological System And The Central Nervous System
The nervous system is what helps communicate with the entire body and its activities. The nervous
system is made up of two major parts of the system; the central and the peripheral. The central
nervous system (CNS) is made of the brain and spinal cord, (Get Healthy Stay Healthy, n.d). The job
of the CNS is that is to integrate the information that is coming back from the body and peripheral
nervous system. It works subconsciously and consciously to control all the activities. The work that
the peripheral nervous systemcarries out is to communicate messages between the central nervous
systemand the body, (Ptdirect, 2010).
The nervous system and the skeletal system support one another. The many instances of how

New algorithms for estimating chlorophyll a in the Spanish waters of the Western Mediterranean Sea
from multiplatform imagery
This manuscript proposes a set of multi sensor chlorophyll a empirical algorithms for improving
current estimates of chlorophyll a concentration in two distinct regions in the Mediterranean Sea.
Overall, manuscript is technically sound and fairly well written; however, it can be improved
significantly with more attention on typos, grammar, and sentence structure. Methodology section is
a bit confusing at some places and needs to be improved. I have the following major/minor
comments about this work,

In general practice the dataset should be split in to train and test dataset. Train dataset is used to
develop model and test data set is used to assess the performance of model on completely new
dataset (test set). With sufficient dataset, author can also use bootstrapping for each SMED model to
obtain better estimations of slop and intercept along with uncertainty (or prediction error) in the
models. Application of bootstrap in algorithm development and validation can be found in the
following paper,
Joshi et al. (2017). Turbidity in Apalachicola Bay, Florida from Landsat 5 TM and field data:
Seasonal Patterns and responses to extreme events, Remote Sensing, 9, pp.367.
3. I would strongly recommend including satellite maps of chl a for various sensors (any single
matchup day) in section 3.4 along with figure 11 and 12.
4. All proposed MBR and chl relationships are power law relationships [Chl a=A X (Blue/Green)B]
and I suggest that their original form should be shown with a linear scale rather than logarithmic
scale (same applies to validation analysis).
Minor comments/suggestions:

Line22: A set of new algorithms is instead of are .
