Abstract
This lesson is structured to teach students about odd and even numbers. Identifying odd
and even numbers is an important skill that children will need throughout their
Mathematics education. This skill will help prepare them to learn division, prime
numbers and even square root in the later years of their Math education.

Objectives
Given a game and a worksheet, students will be able to identify numbers as odd or even
with 90% accuracy.
Brief Description of Summative Assessment
The students will be given a worksheet to complete, where they will be required to
classify numbers as odd or even.
Check for understanding
To ensure that the students are attaining understanding the concepts being taught, the
teacher will give students and opportunity to ask questions, and will provide small
activities in between the lesson to ensure that understanding is occurring.

numbers.

Students will partake in an activity which requires them to come to the board, take a number
off the chart and place it in its appropriate column: either odd or even
Students will work in groups to play a game, where they will have to use odd and even
numbers to create a path to get odd Todd and even Steve to their new homes.
Students will complete a worksheet.

Teacher will use a video clip to highlight odd and even numbers

Teaching/learning procedures & act:
1. Lesson opening will be firstly done. The teacher will show students a video clip which
will introduce students to odd and even numbers.
2. After the lesson opening, the teacher will continue the lesson by using a chart to explain
what are odd and even numbers.
3. Students will then be required to partake in an activity which requires them to come to
the board and select a number off a chart and place it in its appropriate column; either
odd or even.
4. Students will be placed in groups and will be engaged in a game where they will be
required to create a path using odd and even numbers for which odd Todd and even Steve
will be able to get to their new homes.
5. Teacher will show students a power point to close off the lesson. After which students
will be asked to recap what was taught.
6. Students will then be given a worksheet as their form of evaluation.
