Progressive Era Clothing
The Victorian Era is well known for puffy skirts and restricting formal garments while the
Progressive Era was known for its more flamboyant attire and the World War II Era for its more
conservative style to ration for the war. The history of clothing and fashion calls to question its
importance in distinguishing identities of different groups of people as well as marking the different
stages of the country s cultural, political, and economic history. How are the different clothingstyles
reflective of the values and lifestyle of the multicultural United Statesand more importantly, how did
it contribute to the creation of the American identity? 17th century inhabitants of the North
American continent exhibited vastly different wardrobe choices... Show more content on

A thorough and broadened knowledge of American clothing s history opens wide, the opportunity to
explore the American identity. Helen Sheumaker s American Fashion discusses the relationship
between political values and their influence on different clothing styles. The Reader s Companion to
U.S. Women s History provides insight about how the clothing fashion was indicative of a person s
class. Certain clothing styles distinguished specific communities like the wealthy and the working
class yet simultaneously gave a clear distinction of the liberal American style from the proper and

Politics, Propaganda, and Hate Essay
Politics, Propaganda, and Hate
Propaganda is very important issue in our society. The word propaganda however, has a very
negative connotation. This may happen because people tend to associate it with the enormous
campaigns that were waged by Hitler and Stalin, (Delwiche 2002). Now propaganda has a different
face.
It may not be as obvious as but it is used regurlarly by politicians, companies and others who are
interested in influencing our behaviour. Propaganda is the control of opinion by significant
symbols influence , (Laswell, as cited in Chadwick). There are seven types of propaganda devices.
These have been categorized into a few groups by the Institute of Propaganda Analysis (IPA): Name

A relevant example is the Afghani response to the war against terrorism. Aaaron Delwiche published
a story on his site which was retrieved from the BBC. They reported a story in 2002, form the the
Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) about the propaganda material that was being distributed in Afghanistan.
The pamphlets were distributed in Nangarhar Province in Eastern Afghanistan. The following is an
quote from that pamphlet:
It is a well known and open fact that since mankind has been in existence a tireless and endless
struggle has been waged between good and evil. Good was always victorious and evil was
destroyed and devastated. This struggle continues today. Some Muslims have been confused and
disappointed by this anti terrorist campaign, but thank God, they separated the true Muslims from
the hypocrites . . . (America) captured strategic points and put its armies in the sacred places of the
Muslims . . .by creating pretexts and conspiracies, as America was afraid of the success of Muslims
in the world, (Author, Unknown).
Although the source and authenticity of the pamphlet are unknown, it does appear to reflect the
views of true Muslims . Judging by this letter they hold serious contempt for America. They spread
this hate by polarizing the two parties with the words good and evil . The Muslim community being
the previous and America being the latter. These prejudices create
What Is The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time
What makes fiction novels especially interesting are the larger messages hidden within them. The
novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, by Mark Haddon does just that. The
novel centers around a 15 year old genius Christopher Boone who has a mental disability of some
sort, struggling with communication because of it. The book is comprised of a murder mystery novel
Christopher sought to write after discovering the bloody murder of his neighbor s dog, Wellington.
Gradually, the story focuses away from the main conflict and morphs into a complicated story about
Christopher s life. With that, Haddon brings out the complexity and hardships of human life,
specifically through the topic of truth and deceit. The truth comes out eventually; fabricating it now
will only prolong the unwanted effects later. Also, lies ruin relationships, possibly for good.
In trying to find out who murdered Wellington, Christopher uncovers a box containing letters from
his mother addressed to him. Prior to this incident, Christopher s father, Mr. Boone, told him that his
mother passed away due to a heart attack while in the hospital. In addition, Christopher was unable
to visit her. The date of the supposed death did not match up with the recent inscription on the letters,
indicating his father lying about her death. Mr. Boone soon finds out about Christopher s discovery,
struggling to explain the situation: I did it for your good, Christopher. Honestly, I did. I never meant
to lie...I just thought ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fabricating the truth in Christopher s father s case only prolonged the inevitable effects that he so
desperately tried to avoid. Lies ruin relationships as it was difficult for Christopher s father to regain
his son s trust after lying about two tragic incidents. Whichever way you look at it, being honest is
important to maintain healthy, longlasting
Essay on There is More to Vikings than Violence
History typically describes the Vikings as the fiercest, most brutal of all the barbarian groups that
invaded Europe. Historians agree that the Vikings were fierce, but was there more to them than that.
The word Viking has been used to identify people who lived in Sweden, Norway and Denmark in
early medieval times. In the language Old Norse, Viking means pirate. Sometimes they were known
as Northmen or Danes. The Vikings shared a similar heritage as the Saxons, a group of people who
had previously invaded Britain.
The Vikings sailed to other foreign countries because they weren t able to do many profitable
things in their own homes. The soil was infertile, and the land was rocky and covered in ice and
snow for most of the year. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Odin was the ?All father? of all the gods and was extremely wise. He exchanged one of his eyes for
wisdom. Other gods and goddesses included Loki (the trickster god), Freyja (goddess of love and
beauty) and Frey (god of fertility and Freyja?s brother).
England, Scotland and Wales were Christian countries, and when the Vikings resettled there, many of
them converted to Christianity. However, some remained faithful to their old religion at the same
time. This shows that the Vikings weren?t just killing machines that spent all their time murdering
people and raiding villages. They didn?t just think of war all the time and they actually spent time
worshipping gods like we still do today.
In addition, we can see that their culture was important, even down to the clothes they wore. Like
most people during that time, the Vikings mostly used wool to make their clothes. They had to
dress warmly because their home was very cold. They dyed the cloth with mineral and vegetable
dyes of red, green, yellow, brown and blue.
Viking men would wear a long woollen shirt and long cloth pants held up by a drawstring or sash.
On top of this was worn a sleeved jerkin or a three quarter coat with a belt. On their feet they would
wear socks and soft leather shoes or long leather boots. In battle, the Vikings would wear an iron
helmet and chain mail to protect themselves.
A Viking woman would wear a long linen dress. It could be either plain or pleated. Over the dress a

Vaccine Of The Vaccine Autism Connection
The Vaccine Autism Connection Being a parent is a never ending full time job. Constantly on the
run, doing laundry, making food, and wiping snotty noses, you are faced with decisions to make for
your child every day. One of those important decisions is whether or not to vaccinate your child. In
today s society this has become a tough choice to make as negative light has been casted upon
vaccinations and their safety. False allegations of vaccines causing Autism have led parents from
vaccinating their children, but research has proven that vaccinations are not the cause of Autism and
parents should continue to vaccinate for the safety of their child as well as society. For thousands of
years, diseases have taken the lives of millions of people, wiping out towns and spreading across
countries. Disease like the measles, mumps, whooping cough, chicken pox and hepatitis are just a
few of the diseases that can be prevented through the use of vaccinations. Though vaccines do not
make the bacteria that caused the disease to go away, it helps control the outbreaks within societies,
keeping children from getting sick and preventing death. Without the prevention from vaccines, the
bacteria from those diseases will start to flourish resulting in the outbreaks within communities. Herd
immunity is when the majority of a community is immunized against a contagious disease; most
members of the community are protected against that disease because there is little opportunity for
an outbreak.
The Awakening on Kate Chopin s The Awakening
The time period of the 1880s that Kate Chopin lived in influenced her to write The Awakening, a
very controversial book because of many new depictions of women introduced in the book. The
Awakening is a book about a woman, Edna Pontellier. In the beginning, she is a happy woman
with her husband and 2 kids vacationing at Grand Isle. While there, Edna realizes she is in love
with Robert Lebrun and that she was just forced into an unloving/dissatisfying marriage with Mr.
Pontellier. Robert however, leaves for Mexico. While there, Edna picks up a relationship with
Alcee Arobin who helps her realize her sexual passions. Edna has a sexual awakening, and is
determined to get independence and she eventually leaves Mr. Pontellier. She shows her
independence and sexual passions through painting. Edna moves into a house of her own. Robert
comes home and tells her he loves her. However, Edna can t handle all of the social rules and
commits suicide before finishing her conversation with Robert. The book contained a lot of sexual
passion shown by Edna, which is a new depiction of women in the 1880s. The new tone Kate Chopin
wrote in was influenced by society and her life. The Awakening caused a lot of controversy due to
this new tone. During the mid to late 1800s, the time period that Kate Chopin wrote The Awakening,
women were expected to be a mother woman, which influenced Kate Chopin to write this book
about the gain of independence by women. Women were expected to stay at home
Essay on Mccarthyism
Vivian Gonzalez Mr. Martinez Ramos A.P. United States History May 3, 2000 McCarthyism was
one of the saddest events of American history. It destroyed people s lives and shattered many
families. It threw innocent people into a whirlwind of mass confusion and fictional portrayals of
their lives. McCarthyism spawned for the country s new found terror of Communism known as the
red scare. McCarthyism was an extreme version of the red scare, a scare whose ends did not justify
the means. The Red Scare happened twice in the history of this great country. When the communist
took over Russia in 1919, the American peoplewere unnerved. They were afraid of a communist

Palmer Raids. The Palmer Raids were started by A. Mitchel Palmer. He felt that in order to keep the
American values in tact communism had to be out of the picture. Palmer believed that communism
was amp;quot;eating its way into the American workman amp;quot;. He thought it was the root of
all evils in his society. Palmer felt that communism was amp;quot;seeking to replace marriage vows
with libertine laws, burning up the foundations of society amp;quot;. In December of 1919, in their
most famous act, Palmer s agents seized 249 resident aliens. Those seized were placed on board a
ship, the Buford, bound for the Soviet Union. Deportees included Emma Goldman the feminist,
anarchist and writer who later recalled the deportation in her autobiography. Another reason for the
Red Scare was the strike held by mine workers. They were thought to be making threatening moves
against the Capitalist system through subversive Socialist organizations. These strikes were part of a
series of events taking place in 1919. This strike,
Maintaining Medical Documentation Essay
In any medical facility, the number one reason for maintaining medical documentation is to ensure
continuity of care for the patient. Good medical documentation supports decent communication
between patients and doctors for different reasons. Recording all important information help the
doctors monitor the patient s medical history, develop the patient s treatment plan, and minimizes
the risks of errors being made. If there are any mistakes it can jeopardize the patient s well being. It
may also lead to malpractice lawsuits. In CMSW, the major problem I noticed is that they have
issues in setting up their computer patients folders and keeping it organized. As I scanned the

The folder would be set up as last name, first name, and middle initial if it is applicable. Patients
with the same last and first name will be differentiate by the date of birth. For example, Gonzalez,
Jaxon DOB 10/06/87 and Gonzalez, Jaxon DOB 12/07/62. For those patients that have multiple
DOAs (Date of accident), within the folder, I would subdivide the folder with the specific DOA.
That way when scanning the document it goes into the specific DOA folder and it does not get
mix up with the other DOAs. For instance, let s say Gonzalez, Jaxon DOB 10/06/87 has multiple
DOAs, the subfolder would look like this: DOA 7/10/13, DOA 4/06/14, and DOA 10/24/15.
Having the middle name initial is also important to tell the difference between same named
patients. I would also correct the misspelled names by cross reference the patients spelling of the
name with the demographics/C 1 form to make sure the spelling is correct. If it is not correct than
I would edit the folder. For example, the folder is named Jaxson Gonzalez, but in the demographic
it says Jaxon Gonzalez; so I would change the folder name to the correct
Katniss In Antigone
For my synthesis essay I chose to study more into Antigone. I compared her female character to
Katniss. Katniss is a female hero in the Hunger Games. This sparked my interest because media
does not always portray female character as heroes. I looked more into this by searching for an
article about female heroes. It was a challenging topic to find more research about this subject. It
was even harder to find a critic of Antigonethat talked about her female character.
I realized that after reading Antigone her character was very like our modern day female heroes. It
was even more like Katniss in the Hunger Games. Antigone was brave and she showed pride in
what she was doing. Katniss was brave when she volunteered into the games for her sister.
The Child s Sensory Experiences
As a baby enters the world for the first time, they don t have words that they can use to express nor
describe what they encounter. They use their senses ability to engage with the people in the
environment around them. From birth, children learn about the world through touching, tasting,
smelling, seeing, and hearing. Sensory plays an important part in the development of the brain.
Early child development usually follows a sequence, as the child needs to master one skill before
he can acquire the next, but all children develop at their own rate (Best Start, 2016). Describing
the child s sensory experiences at birth, analyzing how these senses develop and become more
evolved, and describing what a day in this child s life might look like by age 1 all playapart in the
developmental milestones of a young child.
Newborn Milestones My sight is limited at this moment in life, but will continue to get better as I
grow up. Vision is probably the least well developed of the infant s senses (Lefracois, 2012, sec.

What Is La Leyenda Negra Myth Or Reality

La Leyenda Negra: Myth or Reality.
La Leyenda Negra also known as the Black legend is propaganda about the Spaniards and their
empire. It is a term that gathers all accusations against Spain and it indicates the unfavorable image
of cruelty and basically embodies a belief that Spaniards are evil, greedy and fanatical people. La
Leyenda Negra originated in the 16th century during the protestant reformation and the era of
inquisitorial Spain. It circulated in Europe and had been misinterpreting Spain s history since ...

The Filipino individuals themselves have disguised them. They can t be fixed any longer. For good

Spanish human advancement and its items. By the by, it must be said that the Filipinos did not get
the social impacts from Spain taking a seat. They reacted in a manner that exhibited their ability to
ace the new and to adjust the new against the old, in a manner that required their ability to convey
qualities and standards to manage with a discriminating and educated judgment, and in a manner that
called for them to have the capacity to filter what is fundamental from what is paltry. In this manner
they reacted specifically to the curiosities the Spaniards conveyed with them to the Philippine

celebration that has gotten to be a standout amongst the most charming parts of life in these islands,
and made them mix with their indigenous way of life to create a valuable Philippine social

Today s competitions heifers and steers are specifically bred for shows. More than likely they are
from breeders of club cattle. There is obviously a huge difference in club calves and commercial
cattle. We are trying to put basically most of the traits you need in good commercial cattle, but
then you add a little show ring pizzazz in them. They need that extra balance, quality, and eye
appeal. The difference is the hair and muscle they have in them, said Jerry Riley of JDR cattle.
For breeding purposes I am going after that hair, that muscle, that bone that it takes to be a club
