What Is Radiocarbon Dating
The plaque at the museum may say the artifact is several thousand years old. What if we could
place its creation to several decades? Writings say something lived so long ago, or their life time
is just a guess. What if we were able to actually give them some numbers to work with? History
has always been the product of a lot of guess work. Sometimes first hand accounts give the details
for a clear image of the story. More often than not, the story is not complete. Scientific tools such
as radiocarbon dating can fill in the gaps. Unfortunately, the method behind radiocarbon dating is
not perfect. It requires the precise removal of a sample piece. Precision is a key word here as some
artifacts are on the verge of decomposition anyway. Also, a sloppy removal could permanently
disfigure the artifact.
This is one possibility for a hook: Cicero, the great Roman lawyer, historian, philosopher and
statesman said, He who forgets his past is doomed to repeat it. Then I would talk about how
accurate measures of time, and environmental observations are key pars to every story.

I should also consider researching tests that have gone wrong, to determine what the reason was,
miscalculation, or factors out of control. I should, for the main point of this paper, include several
examples of the successes of radiocarbon dating. Above, I listed several instances in which I
believe radiocarbon dating was used. I should double check, and expound further on the exact
reasons why radiocarbon dating was so important for those discoveries. I should also look for and
consider the advancements or ulterior methods used for dating historical artifacts. In conclusion, I
was really looking for a way to tie history into the technology aspect of my research, and think that
radiocarbon dating could have plenty of
Online Vs Traditional Classes Essay
Many more people would enjoy school if it was convenient to their time. A great solution to this
problem is online classes. Some wonder if online classes are just as educational as traditional
classes, and if the discussions are as easy to understand without the face to face interaction with the
instructor. In this paper I will be discussing how online classes can be just as educational and are
more convenient to those who have busy schedules. The points of comparison are assignments,
testing and materials, convenienceand interaction/discussions. The first thing I compared for online
and traditional classes were the assignments. Assignments for both classes require resource materials
like text books. For traditional classstudents the assignments are homework , but online students
do all of their work at home, so it is not necessarily called homework for them. Both classes require a
specific turn in date specified by their professor. Traditional classes have more of an advantage
because classmates are able to check each... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interaction and discussion between the two different types of classes is very different.
Traditional classes offer a more face to face social interaction and allow students to meet fellow
classmates easier than those who are taking online classes. The discussions for online classes is
based on comments and emails sent between each other. Those in online classes are barely able to
talk to professors due to slow feedback and they are not able to communicate easily with classmate
unless they reach out through chat rooms or emails. This is difficult because students are unaware
of others schedules and it is harder to reach out because they may be busy at the times you are not.
An advantage of online classes is students are able to learn from professors around the world which
allows them to broaden their perspective and learn from different
Visit At The Beautiful Colosseum
My colleague, Alison Guest, and I were assigned to travel to Rome to visit the beautiful
Colosseum where we needed to record out findings and reveal the history of the structure. We
traveled over eight hours from New York to Piazza del Colosseo, Rome, Italy to learn about the
history behind the Colosseum. Being a new archeologist, it is mandatory to travel all over the world
to cites to get a better understanding of history. Before traveling to Rome, I knew very little of the
Colosseum. I knew it was made of cement and destroyed but I did not know much of the history
behind its creation and its destruction. Little did I know, I would fall in love with the history and
the beauty of the ancient Colosseum. Once we arrived, the first thing you noticed was how big
the Colosseum was. I never imagined how big it could actually be. It covered six acres of land
and stood at 157 feet tall. Another leading archeologist who joined us for the trip had mentioned
that took 1.1 million tons of concrete, stone and bricks to complete the whole structure. (The
Colosseum, 2002) The Colosseum was a massive structure made of stone. It has an elliptical
shape, allowing a nice view no matter where you are seated. The best seat belonged to none other
than the emperor who sat in the emperors box. The entrances and staircase were arranged by
marble and iron dividers. This was to keep different social classes apart. ( The Colosseum:Emblem
of Rome , 2011) While taking in the the view, I was amazed
Pressure Ulcer Snapshot Study
Decision: to increase the frequency of pressure ulcer assessment. Definition of complex care in
relation to case The expression complex care denotes the impact multifarious diagnoses and their
subsequent implications have on an individual, and therefore the varying facets of care management
required. This may be due to physical, developmental, behavioural or emotional conditions requiring
various long term interventions to ensure survival and positive quality of life (McPherson et al.
1998). A more recent paediatric specific definition, taking into consideration the advances in
healthcare leading to both increased survival rates and progress in medical technology, suggests that
children with complex care needs may rely on long term assisted... Show more content on

To justify this option the nurse needed to be certain that this would be concluded prior to the
potential development of a pressure ulcer, requiring knowledge of how quickly pressure ulcers can
develop. National guidance regarding the necessity of repositioning children at risk of pressure
ulcers four hourly (NICE 2013) suggests that immobility exceeding four hours influences pressure
ulcer development, however research into how quickly pressure ulcers can develop, particularly in
the paediatric population, is scarce. A frequently cited study into pressure duration influence found
external pressures exceeding a patient s diastolic blood pressure can bring about a pressure ulcer
within 6 hours, and pressure four times the systolic pressure can bring about a pressure ulcer in
under 1 hour (Reswick and Rogers 1976, cited in Gefen 2008). Although etiologically useful, these
findings could be considered difficult to implement practically, given the complexity and feasibility
of measuring such pressures regularly in
Franklin D. Roosevelt s Failure At The Yalta Conference
Failure at the Yalta Conference The Yalta conference was a conference held by Franklin D.
Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin in 1945, to discuss post world war Europe and to
divide the power of Germany among themselves. At this conference Franklin D. Roosevelt FDR ,
would give the U.S.S.R power that would lead to them becoming a super power and thus creating a
catullus of events. The power FDR gave the U.S.S.R during the Yalta conferencehad a domino effect
of good and bad for both countries. The United States gave the U.S.S.R too much power and trust
during the Yalta conference at the end of WW2. Two months after the Yalta conference FDR died
leaving the country with a since of victory through the Great Depression and the... Show more

After the U.S dropped the bomb on Japan the U.S.S.R started its plan to create the bomb too. Not
long after the U.S dropped the bomb the U.S.S.R created their first nuclear bomb, igniting the
nuclear arms race with the U.S and starting the cold war as told by the American Museum of
Natural History Initially, only the United States possessed atomic weapons, but in 1949 the
Soviet Union exploded an atomic and the arms race began. The U.S.S.R began its nuclear project
to create a nuclear bomb to compete with the United States and not fall behind them in the cold
war and to try and to become the superior power. The reason that the U.S.S.R felt the need to
compete with the United States because after the power they gained during the Yalta conference
they became a large super power and the United States was the only other country big enough to
compete with the Soviets. The Soviets wanted control of west Berlin so that they could have all
of eastern Europe so they blocked off all ways into west Berlin in a plan to not only compete but
try to run the United States out of west Berlin to try and get an upper hand in the cold war and in
the at the time possible war between the U.S.S.R and the United States. The power given to the
Soviets during the Yalta conference made them a super power and made the big enough to compete
with the United States and Britain in the cold war
Adolf Hitler s Methamphetamines
Methamphetamine
The use of amphetamines dates back to World War II when Adolf Hitler would dose his soldiers
with the drug in order to keep them going all day and night with little need for nourishment or
hydration. It is the reason the Nazi s were able to take over Europe at an unbelievable rate of
speed. Hitler himself would get injected with amphetamines up to 5 times a day. It is believed that
his mad rants were due to his drug addiction. Japanese soldiers also used amphetamines during the
Japanese war. Perhaps the reason for its appeal to soldiers in times of war were the stimulant effects
to the sympathetic nervous system to increase alertness and decrease fatigue. It stimulates the
adrenal gland to increase spontaneity, initiative, confidence, ... Show more content on

In those days ancient Babylonians called it the joy plant . They would drink the sap or dry it into
cakes of opium to eat in order to enhance the pleasure of sex. Alexander the Great gave it to his
soldiers to relieve the pain in their feet from the endless walking. It would also help them sleep
through the moaning of the wounded and dying, this made for a more effective army. Alexander
and his army carried the poppy with them to India where it flourished in the climate and became
even more potent. Eating the sap from the poppy is very effective as a pain suppressant and but
also induces joy into the brains neural centers. It controls digestion, body temperature, and breathing
but the withdrawal from prolonged use is painful. It was the discovery of tobacco in the New World
