Crimes in Rwandan Genocide, the Algerian War, and the...
In the twentieth century there were many horrific events where civilians were sought out to be
exploited in very violent manners. There were many conflicts that display this form of violence
against humans in the twentieth century, but the 3 that stand out and best represent are the
Rwandan Genocide, the Algerian War, along with the most horrific display of violence against
civilians, the Holocaust. These 3 instances are geographically diverse as well as being 3 completely
different forms of violent crimes carried out among civilians. This essay will show not only the
different conflicts that took place but the variety of violent crimes taken out on the human race itself.
The Rwandan Genocide which took place in Rwanda in the year 1994, took place because of the
battle for power. The Hutu Government had been internally conflicted by the balance of power
between the landowners themselves and the people that worked those lands. The first spark
happened when the UN tried to negotiate a multi party constitution, which had failed miserably. This
was all due in part to the fact that the Hutu opposed any Tutsi involvement in the government. In that
time the president of Rwanda was in a plane that was shot down most likely carried out and
executed by the extremist, who happened to be on the side of the Hutu.
This triggered everything that the Hutu had been planning for; their reign and terror of taking over
Rwanda and overtaking the government of Rwanda was finally in full force.
Electronic Health Record ( Ehr )
As computers, digital devices, and electronic health record (EHR) have become a significant part
in delivering health care, health informatics ethics has emerged as a new set of standards in
addition to existing codes of medical ethics (Hoyt and Yoshihasi, 2014, p. 219). It is comprised of
medicine, ethics, and informatics in health care. As the International Medical Informatics
Association s (IMIA) Code of Ethics states, one of the general principles of information ethics
pertains to information privacy and security (Hoyt and Yoshihasi, 2014, p. 220). In response to a
rapid advancement in technologies, a concern for security has also grown. A drawback of a
significant increase in adoption of EHR would be the vulnerability of patients sensitive information
as frequently seen in cases of identity theft and breach in the retail industry as of late. As of
January 1, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services reported a staggering number of
81, 790 breaches of patient information in healthcare (McDavid, 2013). The Maryland
Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) reported a case of a major breach for 9,700
patients protected health information (PHI) between October 20 and 3 in 2014(Freeman, 2014).
Names and social security numbers of approximately 9,700 Marylanders with disabilities were
hacked from its case management provider Service Coordination Inc. s (SCI) computer systems. The
hacked documents included the clients medical assistance numbers, Medicaid
Esmeralda Anthonie Alternate Ending
Phoebus had been ecstatic when Esmeralda told him about the baby. What are we going to name
him? It will have to be a name befitting the child of a sun god and a daughter of the moon. When
is he due? I ll have to start working on a crib, and write to my mother. Slow down, what makes you
think the baby is a boy what if its a girl? He looked puzzled like he had never considered that the
baby could be a daughter. Well then I hope she looks just like you. He said and wrapped his arms
around. Leaning down he kissed Esmeralda soundly, before giving a whoop of joy. We are going
to have a baby! Soon the whold neighborhood knew, Phoebus would tell anyone who would listen.
They stayed up late exchanged ideas over what to name their child. What about Anthonie? No, I
knew an Anthonie during the wars and he was a complete ass. All right then, what about Milosh?
Nope, our son is not going to be named Milsoh. Fine, what names do you like? Esmeralda asked

A Comparison Of Madam Defarge And Sydney Carton
In Charles Dickenson A Tale of Two Cites there were plenty of characters that I could have
chosen from but two that stood out to me the most were Madam Defarge and Sydney Carton.
They stood out to me because although they are equally strong characters who they were revealed
to be was shocking. As a reader we meet Madam Defarge in her wine shop. I got the feeling that
she was a very flashy woman because wore fur coverings and big gold hoop earrings. She didn t
say much but the air around her must have been tense. She would often cough to get her husband
s attention when a visitor would enter the shop. Madam Defarge would be seen knitting away
while her husband would conduct business. She may have seem busy knitting but she was always
listening to what was going on. Her knitting is a register of people that need to be killed, this
important because the Defarges are a part of the resistance. During the early parts of the story I
thought of Madam Defarge as her husband s helper but I was surprised to learn that she was
ruthless and the person in charge. There was a point when Monsieur Defarge was looking down and
out and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People were poor, hungry, and abused by the government. Madam Defarge hated the government
for the same reason only she had been personally affected by Evremonde. Her sister was raped
and killed; she spent her life bent on revenge for her family. When Marquis Evremonde was killed
she didn t stop she proved that she would do anything to eradicate the Evremonde blood line But,
the Evremonde people are to be exterminated, and the wife and child must follow the husband and
father (Dickens 693).She wasn t alone in this; he minions Jacques Three and Vengence were just as
bad. Jacques fantasized about killing little Lucy, The child also, has golden hair and blue eyes. And

The Complexity Of Coach Inc.
Based on the complexity of Coach Inc. (Coach) inventory system and policy, I identified potential
risks that could affect Coach s productivity and carefully chosen critical extended procedures to
detect possible fraud and misstatement. Analysis and overview of potential fraud risks related to
Coach Inc. inventory policy. Coach is exposed to (1) employee theft; if proper inventory controls
and segregation of duties are not correctly implemented, employees could steal items after delivery
to the warehouse, or may have goods delivered to a location that would allow them to keep the
items for personal use. (2) Fraud through falsified records; if there is no purchase order
authorization control in place, an employee could create bogus purchase inventory orders to request
payment from Coach and keep the money for personal use. (3) Theft and financial fraud; if there is
no segregation of duties between the person in charge of receiving the customer s payments and the
employee updating the account receivable account, an employee (s) in charge of accounts
receivables could embezzle money by lapping customer payments. Extended procedures to detect
misstatement/theft of inventory and financial fraud. To detect possible misstatement or theft of
inventory, (1) I will search for unrecorded liabilities by looking for open purchase orders, unmatched
vendor invoices and unmatched receiving reports. (2) I will investigate suspicious behaviors from
employees such living above their means,
Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey Essay
Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey

Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is essentially the coming of age story of Catherine Morland, a
sympathetic yet naïve young girl who spends some time away from home at the impressionable age
of seventeen. As Catherine matures in the town of Bath and at Northanger Abbey, she learns to forgo
immature childhood fantasies in favor of the solid realities of adult life, thus separating falsehood
from truth. This theme is expressed in a couple of ways, most obviously when Catherine s
infatuation with Gothic novels causes her to nearly ruin her relationship with Henry Tilney: her
imagination finally goes too far, and she wrongly suspects General Tilney of murdering his late wife.
The theme is less apparent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon after her own arrival in Bath, Catherine is followed by her brother James and Isabella s brother
John Thorpe. At the initial meeting with the boys, Catherine is mistaken on two different points,
still being ignorant in her perceptions of other people. Although slightly thrown off by John s
manners, Catherine is unable to formulate her own negative opinion of him, too affected by the
opinions of Isabella and James, and her judgment was further brought off by Isabella s assuring
her...that John thought her the most charming girl in the world (Austen 48). For Catherine, it is
easier and more natural to accept the opinions of someone like Isabella, a mentor figure. Also, in the
same scene, Catherine makes the assumption that her brother James has journeyed so far on purpose
to see me (49). Catherine hastily jumps to this false conclusion, not having the experience to detect
James continuous questions and compliments of Isabella as a sign of his true motives for coming to
town: to visit the prettiest girl in Bath (49).

At this point in the story the intense attachment between Catherine and Isabella begins to slowly
deteriorate. Thus far the two girls have been inseparable, but although Isabella promises at that
evening s dance that nothing...should induce her to join the set before

Summary Of German Resistance In Those Who Said No To The...
The Holocaust is one of history s most tragic events. During the immense armed conflict of WWII,
there was conflict between individuals under Hitler s Nazi ideology. Not all German authority
believed what Hitler believed in. Since there were individuals like this, instances of resistance
occurred which aimed at thwarting the deadly violence. In Those Who Said No to the Holocaust,
David Kitterman provides examples and insight into the German resistance during the Holocaust.
He states that there have been at least one hundred documented cases regarding the refusal of
orders to kill Jews, unarmed civilians, or prisoners of war. These occurrences are surprising due to
the belief of war wisdom that claims a soldier either follows an order or faces serious consequences.
Dr. Albert Battel, 1st lieutenant in the German army, prevented the SS from relocating about one
hundred Jews to an extermination camp and brought them to safety (Kitterman). Battel was
threatened to be arrested, but was only reprimanded and later promoted. Other members of the
resistance used non violent methods. These methods included refusing to carryout orders due to
religion, morals, and on grounds of conscience. Protesting was also a method used in the resistance.
One officer told Jewish captives to escape when his superior wasn t present. Some officers lost their
weapons, or missed their shots when ordered to execute. Others would overlook women and children
when conducting searches (Kitterman). Each
Theme Between The Great Gatsby And The Truman Dream
The American Dream, a concept of which every American is granted equal opportunity allowing the
highest aspirations to be achieved and every person to live a better, richer and fuller life. Throughout
films The Great Gatsby and The Truman Show directors Baz Luhrman and Peter Weir both depict a
message to society presenting the unfulfilling reality of this pursuit. Both directors present this idea
through the use of stylistic features, film techniques and conventions including setting, costuming,
characterisation, structure, style, camera angles, sound and lighting.

When comparing settings between The Great Gatsby and The Truman Show both films are very
different however both communicate the same idea of the perfect lifestyle of the American
dream. Luhrman uses a wealthy 1920 s lifestyle set in Long Island, New York City, dividing the
island into two areas known as the west egg and the east egg which can also be represented as old
money and new money. In the 1920 s and still to this day Long Island was home of the rich and
famous upper class citizens. Early in the film the audience is presented with an establishing shot
of Gatsby s mansion. Nick describes Gatsby s mansion by saying, The one on my right was a
colossal affair by any standard it was a factual imitation of some Hotel de Ville in Normandy, with
a tower on one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble swimming pool, and
more than forty acres of lawn and garden. Gatsby s mansion

We have especially seen entertainment releasing a lot of slasher/thriller films. The serial killers
depicted in these films usually display psychopathic behaviors of the antisocial personality disorder.
Movies displayed with this disorder can be found in Halloween, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre,
and, The Silence of the Lambs. In the movie, Halloween, on a night of Halloween in 1963, six
year old Michael Myers viciously murders his 17 year old sister, Judith and stepfather, while his
mother is away. He was sent away to mental hospital, and locked away for 15 years. When
Michael was taken to Smith s Grove Sanitarium, he became the patient of a psychiatrist named
Doctor Sam Loomis. He spent fifteen years with Doctor Loomis. During Michael s time with
Doctor Loomis, he barely moved, or spoke a word. On October 30, 1978, while being transported
for a court date, 21 year old Michael Myers kills the hospital guards escorting him, and ends up
escaping mental asylum. After he escapes. Michael returns to his quiet hometown of
Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims. In the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
movie, the main character, Leather Face, wears masks made of human skin and participates in
murder and cannibalism, along with his inbred family. The movie was based off the Wisconsin
serial killer Ed Gein, also known as The Butcher of Plainfield . Ed was a murderer and body
snatcher. He would exhume dead corpses from resident graveyards, and keep trophies of bones and
skin from his victims, and from graveyard inhabitants .Ed would hide behind masks made of human

Nike s And Other Multinational Companies Responsibility...
All companies have certain ethical and moral responsibilities that they should uphold. For most
companies figuring out these ethical responsibilities is done through a combination of the owner s
and/or shareholder s moral and ethical views on their responsibilities, laws set for by the government
one is working under, and the cultural traditions of the area one operates their business from.
Multinational companieshave a much harder time deciding where they stand on some ethical issues
because they may operate out of many different cultural areas and countries with very different
laws. Nike is one such multinational company and the focus of this paper. To begin I will focus I

After ensuring international laws are followed, a company should follow the local laws of each
country they operate in. Facilities of the same company in different countries with different law and
standards do not have to have the same rules, but obviously the local laws are the minimum. I
believe if people expect all countries to have identical labor laws to them and try enforcing them,
then that it is regulatory imperialism. International laws agreed upon by a majority of countries is
not that because it isn t just one nation or culture enforcing its will on others. Above I stated how I
believe Nike and other international corporations should behave and which laws and regulations they
should follow in our current system. This leads us to the issue of who I believe should be setting
standards to follow in the first place. In an ideal system there would be an international organization
that both has power to enforce rules, and can t be unfairly influenced by any one country. This
organization could then make rules with input from different countries, economic advisors,
representatives from major multinational corporations, and representatives from nonprofits/labor
unions. This would hopefully allow them to make fair and balanced rules that benefit the workers,
without hurting the economy or corporations employing the workers. With the power to enforce the
rules across the globe, the rules and regulations wouldn t be able to be circumvented by any one
country to gain
