The Last Letter
Narrator: In the island of Mambacayao, where the sky kiss the oceans, there lived a
loving husband named Zarrick with his caring and lovely wife Soleil. They are married
for almost five years. Unfortunately, the heaven has not grant them with child yet.
The couple have a small altar in their humble house. They never forget to pray and
thank Him with everything He have given them. But as a human being, we have our
personal desire and the desire of Soleil is to already have a child. She always cries on
her prayers.
(Scenario One: Altar)
Soleil: (Kneeling while crying) Oh, my dear, Lord, please hear my prayers and hear the
desire of my heart. I know that you have plans for everything, but please, let me have a
child already. *Gasp*
Narrator: While she is praying and surrendering her all to our Almighty God, her
husband, Zarrick, also kneel down and prayed with her.
Zarrick: (Hold Soleils hand) *Whisper* Dear, Lord, please allow me to love this woman
in a way that you wanted me to do. In a way that she… She needed.
(Scenario two: Bedroom)
Soleil and Zarrick are cuddling
Soleil: Zarrick… *Silence*
Zarrick: (Playing with Soleil’s hair) Hmm?
Soleil: Why did heaven hasn’t grant our prayers yet? I want to feel the warmth of a
happy family with a loving children roaming around our house. Running and playing
around the garden. I don’t care if they will smash my favorite vases. I want us to have a
children, Zar. I want us to have a family. *Cries*
Zarrick: (Suppressing his tears) I am your family, love. We are family. Okay?
A month later…
(Scenario three: Bathroom)
Soleil: *Screams* OH MY GOD! ZARRICK!
Narrator: Zarrick worriedly rushed inside the bathroom. He feel so nervous because it is
the first time that his wife scream like that.
Zarrick: Leil, are you alright? What happened?
Narrator: Soleil didn’t answer but instead she hugged her husband tightly while showing
a pregnancy test with a two lines.
Soleil: The heaven finally heard our prayers. Zar.
Zarrick: God knows the desire of our heart, love. He just grant it at the perfect timing.
Narrator: Time rapidly passed by. Soleil gave birth to a healthy fraternal twin named
Zamiel and Zarriyah. Zamiel love to play with toys that resembles with buildings, while
Zarriyah love to act like a teacher.
Many years passed by. The twins were already finished with their primary and
secondary education. Since the island doesn’t have an access to tertiary education. The
twin needs to travel to the city to pursue the career they wanted to take.
No one notice the fast approaching of time. Zarriyah graduated with latin honor at
NONESCOST and became a professional teacher. While her twin Zamiel, also
graduated with latin honor and became a professional engineer.
The life of the two become busier to the point that they are not able to visit their parents
in the island since it is far from the city where they work at. But the two are doing their
best to save enough money so that they can take their parents to the city.
As time goes by, Zarrick become ill and died. While Soleil was left alone with sorrow
and dreading because of the sudden death of his beloved husband and her longing for
her children.
(Scenario four: Balcony)
Soleil: *Singing the favorite bedtime song of her children* Zamiel… Zarriyah… Did I and
your father become a hindrance to your career that you have forgotten about us?
Day after day, Soleil would keep on waiting at the balcony for her children to come
back. But each passing day she become more and more disappointed and hurt.
Due to her sorrow and longing for her children, Soleil become weak and ill. She lay on
their bed looking at their old photo album where their happy memories are being
captured and kept. She hugged the album with a tears in her eyes.
(Scenario five: Port)
It was a christmas season when Zarriyah and Zamiel decided to visit their parents. They
are so happy because they have saved enough money to take their parents for
vacation.
Zarriyah: Zamiel, faster. We need to arrive their fastly. I am sure that mom and dad are
waiting for us. It’s been a long time since our last visit. I missed them so much!
Zamiel: *Chuckles* Calm down, Zar. I am sure they’ll be happy to see us.
Narrator: They final arrived at Mambacayo. They run towards their house with a wide
smile. They excitedly knocked on the door but no one open them. They entered the
house nervously.
Zarriyah and Zamiel: Mom? Dad? Where are you? We are already home. *They
shouted*
Narrator: Still, no one is answering them. They entered their parent’s room with a heavy
heart. No one is inside but they noticed the photo album on the bed,
Zarriyah: Zam, there is a note inside the album.
Zamiel: Open it, Zar. Hurry up.
Zarriyah: (Opened the note with a shaky hands)
“Someday, our children will come home and find us, but such then, we will be nowhere
to be found. They will seek us in every smile they will see and in every path they will
take. Someday, they will remember and visit us, but not in this house anymore.
Love, Mom”
