PREFACE
This workbook is the first of the three workbooks prepared to equip the Senior Secondary
School Students. It encompasses all topics in the current syllabus approved by the Federal
Ministry of Education for WASSCE and NECO on biology. The workbook, however, also
carries elements of practical questions and the British curriculum designed for the Cambridge
International Examination for IGCSE Biology; Hence, the word comprehensive.
OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKBOOK
The objectives of this workbook are to:
Make it easier for Educators to evaluate the learners' understanding and
comprehension by assigning exercises at the end of specific lessons from the
workbook.
Make it easy for Educator to award marks for instant continuous assessment.
Give the learners an insight into standardized examinations such as WASSEC,
NECO, CIE, JAMB and UTME
Evaluate the brainstorming ability of the learners by designing a pictorial exercise
which enables them to think outside the box. However, the practice gives an insight
into questions asked in practical biology. Therefore, no other biology workbook has
been aimed at this other than this workbook.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
To almighty God, the giver of all wisdom my extreme gratitude and also, I gladly
appreciate the encouragement of the Head of schools, Life Group of Schools,
Abeokuta Pastor (Mrs.) Mary Odofin, without forgetting all the Staff of Step to
Life Comprehensive College most especially Mrs. Bada who has always been on
the lookout for the completion of the first part of this workbook.
