Assignment 4
SECTIONS OF SOLIDS AND DEVELOPMENT
1) A cube of side 50 mm long edges, is resting on H.P with a vertical face inclined at 30 0
to V.P. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to V.P and inclined at 30 0 to H.P.,
passing through the point on the axis 38 mm above the H.P. Draw the front view,
sectional top view, true shape of section and development of the surface of the
remaining portion of the cube.
2) A cone, 70 mm diameter of base, 80 mm axis height is resting on its base on the
ground. It is cut by section plane perpendicular to V.P. and parallel to and 12 mm away
from one of its end generators. Draw the front view, sectional top view and true shape
of section. Also develop the lateral surface of the remaining part of the cone
3) A square prism base 40 mm side and axis 80 mm long, has its base in the H.P. and its
faces equally inclined to V.P. it is cut by a plane, perpendicular to V.P. and inclined at
600 to H.P. and passing through a point on the axis 25 mm from the top base. Draw
the front view, sectional top view and true shape of section. Also develop the lateral
surface of the remaining part of the solid.
4) A pentagonal pyramid has its base on the H.P. and an edge of base away from the
V.P. and parallel to it. A vertical section plane, inclined at 45 0 to V.P., cuts the pyramid
at a distance 10 mm away from the axis. Draw the top view, sectional front view,
sectional side view and true shape of section. Also develop the lateral surface of the
remaining part of the solid. Side of the base of the pyramid is 35 mm long, and the axis
is 70 mm long.
