Landforms🌄

A mountain : is a very tall


piece of land that rises
high above the land
around it. It is bigger and
steeper than a hill.
A hill : is a raised area of
land that is higher than
the land around it, but
not as tall or steep as a
mountain.Usually has a
rounded top

A valley : is a low area


of land between hills or
mountains, usually with
a river or stream flowing
through it.Shaped like a
"U" or "V"

A plain : is a large, flat


area of land with very
few trees and little
elevation change.Usually
found in lowland areas.
A desert : is a dry area
of land that gets very
little rainfall, making it
hard for many plants
and animals to live
there.Has sand, rocks,
or dry soil.

A volcano : is a
mountain or hill that
has an opening through
which lava, ash, and
gases can come out
from inside the Earth.
A glacier : is a large,
slow-moving mass of
ice that forms from
layers of snow that
have been pressed
together over time.

Water Bodies🌊

An ocean : is a very
large body of salty
water that covers most
of the Earth’s surface.
A sea : is a large body
of salty water, but it is
smaller than an ocean
and is usually partly
surrounded by land.

A river : is a natural flow


of fresh water that
moves across land and
usually ends in a sea,
lake, or ocean.
A bay : is a part of the
sea or a lake that is
curved inward into the
land. It is partly
surrounded by land but
still open to water.

Vegetation Zones🌿

A forest : is a large area


of land covered with
many trees, plants, and
animals.
There are 2 types
productiv-e and
protective.
A swamp : is a low,
wet area of land that
is covered with water
and has many trees
and plants.Swamps
are a type of wetland

A marsh : is a wet, low-


lying area that is
covered with water and
filled mostly with
grasses, reeds, and
small plants, not many
trees.Have soft, muddy
ground like swamps.
