Move – moves the selected objects from one place to another.
To use: select objects, click/type a base point and the second point that you want to
move objects to.

Copy – copies the selected objects from one place to another.

To use: select objects, click/type the base point and the second point that you want to
copy objects to. You can also copy + paste objects by selecting objects and right-
clicking on them. It will save objects in clipboard and allows you to copy things from one
file to another. Select “copy with base point” to copy things between files at precise
locations.
Stretch – Start the “stretch” command by typing “s” on the command line then hit enter.
AutoCAD now makes you select objects. You’re going to use a crossing selection.

Rotate – to start the “rotate” command, AutoCAD will ask you to select object. Select all
parts of the object and press <enter>. Now you must indicate a “base point”. Think of
this as a pivot point around which the rectangle will rotate. In this example, you want to
select the center of the (remember to use your Osnap). Once you’ve selected the base
point, the command line shows rotation angle or [Reference]. This means that ‘rotation
angle’ is the default, so type in the angle you want to rotate the object.

Mirror – mirrors objects along the line that you define. When used it will ask you to
whether you want to keep the original object or not after defining the mirror line.

Scale – scale objects by the ratio you specify. To use, select objects, click/type a base
point and click/type the scale numerically.
Trim – trims objects along specified objects. To use, click on trim tool then select the
trim edges and hit enter then click on the objects to trim on the side that you want to
erase. You can trim multiple objects at once by using selection window or “fence” tool.

Extend – extends objects to reach specified objects. Basic operation is similar to “trim”.
Select objects that you want to use as extend edges and hit enter, click on the objects
that you want to extend.

Fillet – connects two objects with an arc that is tangent to the objects and has a
specified radius. To use, type “f” then “r” to input the radius or the arc then select the
first object and then the second object.

Chamfer – connect two objects with a beveled edge. To use, type “cha” then “d” to input
the distance where the bevel will be connected to the next object. Then, select the first
object and then the second object.

Array – this command in general, creates copies of an object and arrange it in certain
distribution. There are three (3) sub commands for this command: rectangular, path,
and polar.

Layers – AutoCAD uses layer systems like Photoshop and SketchUp to organize a
drawing. Layer palette shows your current layer name and state. To access Layer
manager, type “La” then a layer property manager will pop out.

Dimension – set a new layer for dimension, then use the following tools.

Block – groups and objectifies selected lines as one entity. This function along with its
command can be found on the insert tab and home tab.

Properties – with this function, you can see and edit the property of an object. It is
located in the home tab.
