1 Product Overview
This document describes the Support Control Unit (SCU).
Information about the placement in the RBS cabinet can be found in RBS
Description.
1.1 Purpose
The main function of the SCU is to control and supervise the speed of the
fans in the RBS.
1.2 Variants
Table 1 lists the different SCU variants.

1.2.1 SCU 01 01
The SCU 01 01 is one single unit that controls and supervises up to 10 fans
(divided into four fan groups) and two heater units.
The SCU 01 01 can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications. Figure
1 shows the front of the SCU 01 01.

(divided into four fan groups).

Function Description
2 Function Description
This section describes the functions for the SCU variants.
2.1 SCU 01 01
This SCU has the following functions:
• Control of fan speed and fan status
• Interface for smoke detector, external alarms, cabinet lamp, door-switch,
external temperature sensor, and heaters
• Generate cold-start signal
• Cabinet memory
• Transient protected EC bus ports for external connections
The SCU communicates through the EC bus. The fans are supplied with -48 V
DC from the SCU. The SCU generates an alarm if the fan is faulty.
Figure 5 shows the block diagram of the SCU 01 01.

Function Description
2.2 SCU 02 01 and SCU 03 01
This SCU 02 01 and the SCU 03 01 have the following functions:
• Control of fan speed and fan status
• Interface for two PFU alarms
• Interface for SAU alarms and power
• Generate cold-start signal
• Cabinet memory
• Transient protected EC bus ports for external connections
• Redundant power supply to the fans
The SCU communicates through the EC bus. The fans are supplied with -48 V
DC from the SCU. The SCU generates an alarm if the fan is faulty.
Figure 6 shows the block diagram of the SCU 02 01 and the SCU 03 01.
