HDFC Bank - Financial Statements Dashboard Assignment

Objective:

The goal of this assignment is to create a well-structured and interactive Financial Dashboard in Excel using the
provided Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement for five years. The dashboard should present
key financial insights and be suitable for an investor presentation (click here).

Assignment Requirements:

1.​ Data Preparation & Cleaning


○​ Convert the given financial data into a format suitable for dashboard creation.
○​ Ensure proper data structure:
■​ Row headings: Particulars of financial statements.
■​ Column headings: Years and corresponding values.
○​ Use Excel formulas where necessary to clean and transform data.​

2.​ Selection of Key Metrics


○​ Identify the most important values from each financial statement that should be showcased in the investor
presentation.
○​ Examples include Revenue, Net Profit, EBITDA, Total Assets, Liabilities, Operating Cash Flow, etc.
○​ Provide justification for selecting these metrics (write in a separate sheet).​

3.​ Dashboard Creation


○​ Design an Overall Dashboard summarizing the key financial insights.
○​ Use appropriate charts and visuals to make the presentation engaging:
■​ Bar Charts for year-over-year trends.
■​ Pie Charts for composition breakdowns.
■​ Line Charts for revenue/profit trends.
■​ Heatmaps for highlighting key financial ratios.
○​ Add interactive elements such as filters and slicers to allow users to explore the data dynamically.​

4.​ Separate Statement Tabs with Macros


○​ Create three additional tabs for:
■​ Income Statement
■​ Balance Sheet
■​ Cash Flow Statement
○​ When a user clicks on these tabs, the respective financial statement should be displayed using Excel
Macros.​

5.​ Interactivity & Usability


○​ Use buttons and hyperlinks for seamless navigation.
○​ Ensure all charts and tables are properly formatted and labeled.
○​ Apply conditional formatting where necessary to highlight key trends.​

6.​ Submission Requirements


○​ Submit the completed Excel file with:
■​ Overall Dashboard
■​ Three Tabs (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement)
■​ Interactive Features (Filters, Slicers, Macros for Navigation)
○​ Include a justification sheet explaining why specific metrics were chosen.
○​ Ensure the file is properly named (e.g., Financial_Dashboard_YourName.xlsx)
