This module will cover an overview of empowerment technology and its relationship to ICT and Society as it has
developed through history and into trends in technology. This is followed by discussions on using the Internet as an
effective tool for research. Advanced Word tools to develop content, advanced Excel tools to present data and advanced
PowerPoint tools for effective slide presentation will be presented and used will also be covered.

What is Empowerment? The word empower comes from the Old French prefix ‘en-’ meaning ‘in, into’ and the
root ‘power’ which comes from the early 1300s, meaning ‘ability, strength, might’. But how do we deal with the
world Empowerment Technology?
Now look around you, what do you see? In today’s digital age, everything around you have become effective
and efficient with the development of different technologies. We are into power of doing things because of these
technological advancement. However, the big question is, how can you maximize these different technologies that
will give yourself the capacity to achieve a specific end-goal or even solve your problem with less cost, lest time
and less effort?

information through telecommunication. Its main focus is to communicate which use digital forms of communication

communication to be effective. ICT helps to empower people in gathering and analyzing information or situations with
the use of these tools and applications.
