00:03:09.000 Christmas story that always impacts me
00:03:11.959 the only thing I don't like about
00:03:13.480 Christmas is that we we tend to look at
00:03:16.159 scriptures or sing songs that we only do
00:03:18.920 like one time a year and these are for
00:03:21.519 the believer these themes are continuous
00:03:24.440 throughout the year and Mary is one of
00:03:27.120 the great Heroes of scripture uh
00:03:31.360 we're going to talk a little bit about
00:03:32.879 her and I'm because I've I'm inspired by
00:03:35.959 her her um her example the way she
00:03:40.560 responded to an
00:03:42.920 impossible uh challenge in front of her
00:03:45.280 so we'll look at that in a
00:03:47.760 moment the Holy Spirit came upon Mary
00:03:52.480 natural spiritual Holy Spirit came upon
00:03:55.159 Mary and she revealed
00:03:58.280 Jesus the holy Spirit comes upon the
00:04:02.040 written
00:04:03.120 word and Jesus is
00:04:06.400 revealed the Holy Spirit comes Upon A

00:05:13.720 her not follow through with the
00:05:16.440 wedding Herod wants to kill her kid her
00:05:21.440 son the the uh Scandal of her being a
00:05:26.280 mother of an illegitimate child looks
00:05:28.919 like anything but
00:05:31.680 favor favor on your life will reveal
00:05:36.720 issues in the people around
00:05:39.600 you and our ability to carry favor
00:05:44.000 well is key to the increase of
00:05:48.520 favor we never owe anyone an explanation
00:05:52.280 nor should you ever apologize for favor
00:05:55.520 apology of favor is an expression of
00:05:58.120 unbelief the basic basically says God
00:06:00.479 made a bad decision by giving me
00:06:05.400 favor you never want to dishonor god
00:06:09.400 with with how unqualified you may feel
00:06:12.880 with fore an assignment I hope everybody
00:06:15.280 in the room feels unqualified if you
00:06:17.720 feel qualified you haven't seen your
00:06:21.720 assignment if you feel qualified you
00:06:24.039 don't see it clearly because the only
00:06:25.880 the only possible response from seeing
00:06:28.199 what God expects from our life is the
00:06:30.319 overwhelming sense I could never pull

00:06:34.960 the Lord puts every one of us in so that

00:06:40.479 is good works are a critical part of the
00:06:44.800 Christian Life uh feeding uh the poor
00:06:48.520 serving those with without uh clothes or
00:06:51.479 housing or whatever it might be fill in
00:06:52.880 the blanks the the the overall gamut of
00:06:56.280 meeting uh the demand of human need is a
00:06:59.280 huge part of of the Christian
00:07:01.560 life but if we're honest we'll realize
00:07:05.000 that feeding the poor and all these
00:07:06.360 other amazing and wonderful things can
00:07:08.879 be done by people who don't know the
00:07:10.800 Lord there has to be an aspect of our
00:07:13.960 service before the Lord that only he can
00:07:17.039 do in and through us it has to cross the
00:07:20.080 line into the realm of impossibility or
00:07:22.800 it has not adequately given witness to
00:07:25.080 the resurrection of
00:07:26.759 Jesus there is in every one of us an
00:07:29.840 inbuilt appetite for the impossible that
00:07:32.599 it would bend its KNE to the name Jesus
00:07:34.479 through our lips it's critical it's
00:07:36.319 vital that that is a regular part of our
00:07:39.400 life if it is not we have to come back
00:07:42.560 before the Lord and find out why not
00:07:44.960 introspection but to learn where do I
00:07:47.199 take risk where do I
00:07:50.199 partner the Lord is looking for people
00:07:52.800 who will come into agreement with what
00:07:55.360 he has
00:07:57.000 said there's an alignment I
00:08:01.319 I almost hate to use the word alignment
00:08:04.039 because Cults use it but we're called a
00:08:07.280 cult so maybe it's all right I don't
00:08:13.919 know there's this agreement there's this
00:08:16.440 alignment we make with the Lord that God
00:08:19.400 declares a matter when people come into
00:08:21.840 proper alignment or agreement with what
00:08:24.120 he has said there is the display of what
00:08:26.560 God intends on the Earth
00:08:29.560 let's take a look at these scriptures
00:08:31.039 and then uh what we're going to do is
00:08:32.599 we're going to take some time to talk
00:08:34.559 through it's about 12 verses we'll take
00:08:37.159 probably 20 minutes or so and then we're
00:08:39.120 going to spend the rest of the time
00:08:40.599 sharing in communion together and uh I
00:08:44.240 uh it's going to be two completely
00:08:45.839 separate parts but they'll both be good
00:08:48.560 I hope all right let's go to verse 26
00:08:51.920 did I tell you where Luke Luke chapter 1
00:08:55.160 did I not tell you where oh well it's in

00:09:07.640 chap 1 verse
00:09:10.480 26 now in the sixth month we're going to
00:09:13.560 do about 12 verses for so just uh follow
00:09:16.480 hard now in the sixth month the angel
00:09:19.200 Gabriel was sent by God to a city of
00:09:21.600 Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin
00:09:24.320 betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph
00:09:27.279 of the House of David the Virg 's name
00:09:30.040 was Mary and having come in the angel
00:09:32.959 said to her Rejoice highly favored one
00:09:36.079 the Lord is with you blessed are you
00:09:39.040 among
00:09:40.040 women but when she saw him she was
00:09:42.440 troubled at his saying and considered
00:09:44.760 what manner of greeting this was then
00:09:47.519 the angel said to Hero not be afraid
00:09:50.279 Mary for you have found favor with God
00:09:53.720 and behold you will conceive in your
00:09:55.399 womb and bring forth a son and shall
00:09:57.640 call his name Jesus
00:09:59.839 he will be great he will be called the
00:10:01.839 son of the highest and the Lord God will
00:10:04.720 give him the Throne of his father David
00:10:08.360 and he will reign over the house of
00:10:09.880 Jacob forever and of his kingdom there
00:10:13.079 will be no end then Mary said to the
00:10:16.279 angel how can this be since I do not
00:10:18.680 know a man and the angel answered and
00:10:21.839 said the holy spirit will come upon you
00:10:24.800 and the power of the highest will
00:10:26.399 overshadow you therefore also so the
00:10:29.600 Holy One who is to be born will be
00:10:32.320 called The Son of God now indeed
00:10:35.920 Elizabeth your relative has also
00:10:38.320 conceived a son in her old age and this
00:10:41.560 is now the sixth month for her who was
00:10:43.920 called Barren last two verses for with
00:10:47.079 God nothing will be impossible then Mary
00:10:51.040 said behold the maid servant of the Lord
00:10:54.120 let it be to me according to your word
00:10:56.600 and the angel departed from her I love
00:10:59.639 this story a lot I actually will return
00:11:03.360 this is one of the places that I will
00:11:05.680 sometimes return to just to be refreshed
00:11:08.200 in reading something that's out of my
00:11:10.000 sequence I I like to read books of the
00:11:12.399 Bible and just go through them but every
00:11:14.600 once a while I'll just go right to this
00:11:16.000 and just plow read through this because
00:11:18.160 it's it's so encouraging to
00:11:20.959 me Mary has an angel show up and make
00:11:23.760 this announcement of God's intention and
00:11:27.160 everything that God has intended to do
00:11:29.320 in and through you is absolutely
00:11:31.399 impossible as I've already stated if
00:11:34.200 you're not overwhelmed by your
00:11:35.440 assignment you don't see your
00:11:37.279 assignment what he intends to do is
00:11:39.760 absolutely impossible it's to put us
00:11:41.680 into the place of absolute dependency so
00:11:44.639 that he can work in and through us to
00:11:46.639 display himself as the god of the
00:11:48.760 impossible that is his intention and he
00:11:51.440 has designed it so for every person who
00:11:54.600 puts their faith in Christ it is not for
00:11:57.320 a select few it is the design of God for
00:12:00.600 every person so the angel shows up to
00:12:03.240 Mary and he says Rejoice highly favored
00:12:07.079 one typically you rejoice after the baby
00:12:10.320 is
00:12:13.760 born she would commanded
00:12:18.560 Rejoice it's
00:12:22.680 coming there's not one situation that
00:12:25.320 anybody in this room faces that you
00:12:27.399 wouldn't like to have a miracle for that
00:12:29.519 Jesus has not already settled the issue
00:12:32.440 paid the appropriate price so that that
00:12:34.800 Miracle could be accomplished in his
00:12:36.680 name there's not one situation he did
00:12:39.600 not pay for the car so you and I would
00:12:41.440 leave it on the
00:12:45.880 lot everything in our life has already
00:12:49.279 been settled the cross that Jesus
00:12:51.959 suffered on was that complete in its
00:12:55.120 effect and in its work there's not one
00:12:57.760 thing anybody in this room could f face
00:12:59.440 that Jesus would look at and say ah wish
00:13:02.199 I would have thought of that before I
00:13:03.560 died I would have put that on the cross
00:13:05.120 too you know there's there's none of
00:13:06.800 those things every single issue of life
00:13:09.199 in fact not just in this life but all
00:13:11.160 throughout all of eternity has already
00:13:13.279 been settled so when the angel of the
00:13:15.920 Lord comes to Mary and says Rejoice
00:13:18.320 highly favored one it is because this
00:13:21.480 thing has already been settled in heaven
00:13:24.480 if we knew how much was already settled
00:13:26.680 in heaven Joy would be the natural
00:13:28.839 respon response celebration beforehand
00:13:32.199 because the reality is eternity defines
00:13:36.120 every situation we face I may be in the
00:13:38.920 middle of a conflict here but I'm also
00:13:40.560 in the middle of a breakthrough here I
00:13:43.199 may be in the middle I hope in the
00:13:44.800 middle of a challenge here because it's
00:13:46.720 necessary for Faith to grow but I'm also
00:13:49.199 experiencing great breakthrough here
00:13:51.360 every person in this room was designed
00:13:53.680 to invade this realm called
00:13:55.639 impossibility and now the Lord this
00:13:58.199 Angel of the Lord appears to Mary and
00:14:01.079 says Rejoice highly favored one this
00:14:06.800 favor would cause
00:14:09.360 her to be valued and celebrated for all
00:14:12.880 of eternity everywhere the gospel is
00:14:15.079 shared there is celebration for this
00:14:16.959 woman who said yes and the Miracle
00:14:19.639 produced Jesus she is celebrated but she
00:14:22.759 was also opposed and favor does that to
00:14:26.959 our surroundings
00:14:29.560 I I exhort strongly do not make excuses
00:14:34.399 for the favor of God simply embrace it
00:14:38.040 and give him the honor and the credit
00:14:39.480 for it I I've shared this even in recent
00:14:42.399 weeks but you know the the whole point
00:14:44.639 is is when somebody comes to you and
00:14:47.000 they celebrate you and they thank you
00:14:48.720 and they tell you you did such a great
00:14:50.440 job please don't say it wasn't me it was
00:14:52.880 Jesus CU you know
00:15:00.399 besides it being
00:15:02.000 nauseating for the rest of
00:15:06.680 us I I come to somebody and I said it's
00:15:09.360 a beautiful song you just sang They tell
00:15:12.079 me it wasn't me it was Jesus I'm
00:15:14.399 thinking and it wasn't that good it
00:15:16.759 was it was it was good it was good but
00:15:21.839 let's be honest if Jesus saying that
00:15:23.639 universes would be created you
00:15:25.880 know just his declared word would have
00:15:28.600 just changed everything so it wasn't
00:15:30.600 that it was good but it wasn't that
00:15:34.120 good when someone comes to you with a
00:15:36.720 compliment receive it if if you don't
00:15:40.279 know how to receive honor you'll have no
00:15:41.800 Crown to throw at his
00:15:44.040 feet you have to know how to receive
00:15:46.399 honor then when you get alone with the
00:15:47.759 Lord you just say look what was given to
00:15:49.199 me that belongs to
00:15:51.959 you it's a part of the process so back
00:15:54.480 to the story Mary is called this highly
00:15:57.920 favored one and she had both blessing
00:16:00.480 and challenges because of the favor and
00:16:02.720 favor will do that I uh the subject of
00:16:05.800 favor is not our subject today so I've
00:16:07.319 got to go quick on this but a favor is
00:16:10.199 um favor is the difference between some
00:16:13.639 people fulfilling why they're alive and
00:16:16.959 others who don't the issue of favor
00:16:19.360 people can have a call of God on their
00:16:21.240 life but never learn the need for favor
00:16:23.759 and so they never increase in favor and
00:16:26.199 thus never have the appropriate Open
00:16:28.560 Door
00:16:29.440 the support whatever is needed to be
00:16:31.000 able to accomplish what God has called
00:16:32.279 them to do favors the
00:16:34.800 issue it says if Jesus he increased in
00:16:37.880 favor with God and with
00:16:41.120 man it's amazing I understand why he
00:16:44.680 needs to increase in favor with man
00:16:48.120 because it's going to be zakus that
00:16:49.959 welcomes him into his home it's going to
00:16:51.759 be it's going to be the Pharisee that
00:16:53.839 invites him you know to his house to
00:16:57.000 where uh Mary washes his Fe it's going
00:16:59.240 to be these people that give opportunity
00:17:01.480 for Jesus to step in but how is it that
00:17:04.359 Jesus the son of God who is absolutely
00:17:06.880 perfect in every possible way how is it
00:17:09.559 he has to increase in favor with
00:17:12.760 God and I don't know I don't have an
00:17:15.119 answer I just know if he did
00:17:17.358 [Music]
00:17:19.439 oh you and I might want to consider our
00:17:22.000 need for increased favor with God as
00:17:23.959 well and uh don't think that what you
00:17:26.599 have is enough because part of what what
00:17:29.080 you need is what you can obtain through
00:17:32.200 faithfulness with what you have so we'll
00:17:34.600 leave that there let's move on down to
00:17:37.400 this uh verse 32 it says in the last
00:17:40.200 half of the verse the Lord God will give
00:17:41.880 him the Throne of his father David
00:17:44.640 that's strange because in verse uh 35 it
00:17:49.039 says he will be called The Son of God
00:17:51.200 but in verse 32 he's called the son of
00:17:53.080 David
00:18:04.840 these this is one of the things that is
00:18:07.080 has marked me is to
00:18:10.799 see God look at this man
00:18:14.039 David who God said he has a heart after
00:18:18.400 my
00:18:19.440 heart the Lord looked at this man David
00:18:23.240 and
00:18:24.360 said I'm going to call my son your son
00:18:31.760 forever how do you obtain such a place
00:18:34.080 of favor with the almighty God that
00:18:36.440 tells me he's impressionable it tells me
00:18:39.320 it's possible to to leave a mark on his
00:18:42.039 heart he's not this
00:18:43.760 robotic
00:18:45.520 being is one who has invited us into
00:18:48.919 this relational journey and we've got
00:18:51.799 times in scripture where someone would
00:18:54.240 demonstrate Faith the Centurion
00:18:56.400 demonstrates Faith a syren Woman They
00:18:58.799 demonstrate this faith and Jesus stops
00:19:00.799 in the middle of the miracle he says
00:19:02.559 I've not seen Faith like this in all of
00:19:06.679 Israel how is it that you have God stand
00:19:09.480 up and go
00:19:11.640 wow look at that I've never seen
00:19:14.320 anything like that before see there are
00:19:17.400 certain responses that the people of God
00:19:20.360 can have to him that's not generic it's
00:19:23.720 not apathetic it's Unique it's honest
00:19:26.799 it's real it's absolute Sur surrender
00:19:29.360 and he stops and he says you know what
00:19:32.280 I'm going to call My Son Your
00:19:36.600 Son never have I seen such great faith
00:19:39.880 in all of his Israel's
00:19:43.919 history this is a relational
00:19:48.039 Journey this is not a Christian routine
00:19:51.799 where you jump through hoops and try to
00:19:56.280 accomplish a certain regiment
00:19:59.520 I've been invited to know
00:20:01.919 God and in my heart of
00:20:04.480 hearts knowing him is the
00:20:07.320 reason I'm alive it's the reason I wake
00:20:10.080 up in the morning it's the reason I go
00:20:12.559 to bed at night it's the reason behind
00:20:14.400 everything is this invitation to
00:20:16.840 actually walk with the one who created
00:20:19.320 all things and to come to know
00:20:21.559 him and there's something about this
00:20:24.039 privileged invitation that makes
00:20:26.080 everything else pale in comparison
00:20:29.240 I remember talking to some young people
00:20:31.159 years ago I was in this group of about
00:20:33.679 20 or so and I said the claims of Jesus
00:20:36.880 are so absolutely
00:20:39.840 astronomical so
00:20:42.080 extreme that if it is true I owe him my
00:20:45.679 entire
00:20:47.799 life to that which is true but if it is
00:20:50.960 a lie it has made such a mark on history
00:20:54.679 that I I owe him my or owe my entire
00:20:57.799 life to humanity to disprove that this
00:21:00.799 thing that he has claimed is true in
00:21:03.559 other words it is a line in the sand
00:21:05.760 that says choose your
00:21:08.440 side it is that demanding it is not gray
00:21:12.840 it's not a gray area it's not an
00:21:14.760 apathetic area it's not an area that we
00:21:16.360 stand back and simply applaud it's like
00:21:19.039 the claims of this Jesus to actually
00:21:22.120 atone for sin to make it to where I can
00:21:25.000 have peace forever with God where his
00:21:27.559 nature can become my own nature that I
00:21:30.400 am actually changed from the inside out
00:21:32.880 that I find out why I'm alive suddenly
00:21:35.919 this becomes crystal clear and it
00:21:38.360 becomes clear through the Redemptive
00:21:39.799 work of
00:21:40.720 Jesus and here in this moment he's
00:21:42.919 called the Son of God but he's also
00:21:45.480 called the son of
00:21:46.799 David move down to verse
00:21:49.559 37 this is one of my favorite verses the
00:21:52.080 next two are two of my favorite verses
00:21:54.200 in the whole
00:21:56.200 Bible verse 37 says for for with God
00:21:59.279 nothing will be
00:22:01.320 impossible say that with me with God
00:22:04.039 nothing will be impossible say it again
00:22:06.720 for with God nothing will be impossible
00:22:10.039 we've looked at this oh goodness
00:22:11.880 countless times through the years and I
00:22:13.799 realize for many of you this will be
00:22:15.240 repeat but I love repeating it with God
00:22:19.360 nothing will be impossible that phrase
00:22:22.600 nothing will be impossible as
00:22:24.679 interesting makeup and it was Jack
00:22:26.360 Taylor who uh
00:22:29.440 it helped me to understand this many
00:22:31.120 years ago I actually heard him teach on
00:22:34.000 this passage before I ever met him he
00:22:36.159 has sense become a personal friend and a
00:22:37.919 friend of our house and writes me
00:22:40.120 regularly just to encourage me such a an
00:22:42.679 amazing father in the faith but he took
00:22:45.480 this verse nothing is impossible with
00:22:47.440 God and he broke it down and this is how
00:22:49.360 it's broken down the word nothing is
00:22:51.320 actually two different words it's the
00:22:53.159 word no but then it's the word Rama Rama
00:22:57.080 is the there's logos and Rama in in the
00:22:59.880 in the Greek language to describe God's
00:23:01.840 word logos would be more used for the
00:23:04.760 written word Rama is that which is
00:23:06.640 freshly spoken it's not absolute but
00:23:09.480 those are those are uh the way that is
00:23:12.159 predominantly used in scripture so just
00:23:14.039 think through this with me Rama no Rama
00:23:17.120 no freshly spoken word of God will be
00:23:19.480 impossible the word impossible actually
00:23:22.120 means without ability and so this verse
00:23:25.480 can be translated this way no fres L
00:23:28.880 spoken word of God will ever come to you
00:23:31.799 that does not contain its own ability to
00:23:34.400 perform

00:23:40.679 itself wow no freshly spoken word of God
00:23:45.200 will ever come to you that does not

00:35:37.320 Jesus Mary is healed cancer is never to
00:35:41.920 return to her body again by the stripes
00:35:45.079 of Jesus Parkinson's is gone from Kathy
00:35:49.040 Parkinson's has been defeated in Allen
00:35:52.079 and just make these declarations they're
00:35:55.920 not ritual or a routine life and death
00:35:59.520 is in the power of the tongue and all I
00:36:01.640 want is my tongue to agree with what God
00:36:04.560 has accomplished and with what God is
00:36:06.359 saying so I'm going to ask you to do
