DEVELOPMENT PLAN – CLASS II
Summer is here, vibrant and bright,
The summer holidays are always a special delight!
Fun and frolic, happiness and energy abound,
As we revel, rejoice and make each day count!
Gear up towards a healthy body and mind,
Let fitness be our mantra as we relax and unwind.
Eat nutritious food to nourish and help us grow,
Challenge our minds to learn something new!
Dear Parents,
Summer vacation is that magical time of the year when each day brings
something new and exciting for children to experience. It’s a wonderful
opportunity for families to bond, have fun together and create lasting
memories. Whether it's a short getaway or trip, encouraging a new hobby or
enjoying simple moments at home, summer is filled with chances to nurture
joy and creativity.
A healthy body and a healthy mind go hand in hand to form the foundation
for a happy, balanced life. Keeping this in mind, we have designed the
‘Development Plan’ around SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. Through
fun and creative activities, children will be encouraged to stay active, eat
right, think positively and take care of themselves and others.
Looking forward to your maximum participation in this ‘Development
Plan’ especially curated for our young, enthusiastic learners.

❖ Nurturing Spiritual Well-being
As we guide our children toward overall well-being, it's equally important
to nurture their inner peace and emotional strength. Mindful practices help
children develop a sense of gratitude, patience and resilience. We urge you
to spend a few soulful moments together every day, doing any one of these
things - Reciting a daily prayer or mantra together
- Chanting shlokas
- Offering prayers as per your family’s tradition
Capture a short video or a few pictures of these precious moments and
share them with the class teacher.
❖ Mind Matters: Caring for Our Thoughts & Feelings
Mental health plays a vital role in a child’s overall well-being. Helping
children express their feelings, manage emotions and practice self-care
builds a strong foundation for happiness. Simple daily practices done
together can help children manage stress, build self-confidence and feel
more in control of their emotions. A few activities are listed below:
•Mindful Breathing or Guided Meditation – Practice a short breathing
exercise together (like inhaling slowly, holding and exhaling) or listen to a
child-friendly guided meditation audio. We have shared a few links for
your reference – https://youtu.be/DWOHcGF1Tmc?feature=shared
https://youtu.be/FKU6QwT8psY?feature=shared
https://youtu.be/5K7bSWlc76g?feature=shared
• Gratitude Journaling – It means, writing or drawing things that we
should be thankful for. This activity can be done every day, for two weeks.
By the end of the week, children will understand the importance of
counting one’s blessings and focussing on the positive things in their lives.
❖ Move Your Body - The Joy of Being Active
Physical activity is one of the most important ways to stay healthy,
energetic and happy. Whether it's going for a walk together, dancing to our
favourite music, practicing yoga with grandparents, or playing a favourite
sport—every movement counts! Even small changes, like taking the stairs
instead of the lift, walking to the local market or parking a little farther
from our destination, add up to big health benefits. Let us practice yoga
everyday with our families.
On account of International Yoga Day on June 21, share a few pictures
of ‘Family Yoga Fun’ with the class teacher.
❖ Pick a Skill- Make Learning More Engaging
Summer offers a wonderful opportunity to pick up a new skill. Let the
children make the most of this time by exploring activities they have always
been curious about- whether it's hula hooping, juggling, photography,
cooking, baking, gardening, a new language, playing an instrument, singing,
building birdhouses, conducting cool science experiments, ventriloquism or
anything else that sparks their interest.

Any skill developed can be showcased in the ‘Artistic Expressions -
Talent Show’ activity scheduled for the month of July.
❖ Reviving Indigenous Games –Strengthening Family
Bonds
Encouraging child to play indigenous games is a joyful and meaningful way
to connect them with our rich cultural heritage. Jadui Pitara, as part of the
National Education Policy, refers to and promotes, play-based learning and
teaching material designed for children aged 3-8 years. Traditional games
like Pithu, Kho-Kho, Gilli Danda, Spinning Top and Stapoo or hopscotch not
only bring fun and excitement but also help develop important skills like
coordination, teamwork and problem-solving. These games are simple,
require minimal materials and can be enjoyed in open spaces with friends or
family.

We would love to get a glimpse of these cherished moments of
family fun and bonding.
Share two pictures and a short video (1–2 minutes)
with the class teacher and upload the same to the Student
Portfolio as well!
❖ Bilateral Brain Gym: Hands-on activities to activate
both sides of the brain
Bilateral Brain Gym activities are a great way to engage both sides of the
brain, promoting cognitive development, thinking, creativity and problem-
solving skills. These simple activities can be done at home with everyday
materials.
Suggested below is a task with instructions that helps in improving focus and
span of attention.
Instructions-
• Draw a vertical line in the center of the A4 sheet.
• Make 8 bold dots on the vertical line
• Draw various shapes on either side of the dot, mirroring each other.
For example, a circle on the left side and a circle on the right side, a
square on the left side and a square on the right side and so on.
❖ Perfecting Penmanship – Developing the Skill of
Beautiful Writing
It is often said that handwriting is a mirror of our personality, creating a
positive impression of us. Let’s give our children ample handwriting practice
during the holidays. Encourage them to write half a page of English (cursive
font) and half a page of Hindi at least four times a week. Please use a thin
notebook for this practice. We are also sharing a reference sheet for cursive
handwriting along with the other subject-related worksheets.
❖ Footsteps to Wellness - Nurturing a Healthy Body and
Mind
• Take a stroll together through a park, around your neighbourhood, or in any
natural setting.
• As you walk, ask them to observe people, birds, animals, trees or bugs they can
spot.
• To make the activity more enriching, have them point out naming words
(nouns) like dog, flower, butterfly or tree and think of describing words
(adjectives) such as tall, colourful, soft or noisy.
•After coming back, ask them to write down ten naming words (person, place,
animal or thing) that they had seen during their walk and think of two describing
words for each.
An A-4 sized coloured sheet can be used for this activity and submitted in
school after the holidays.
Example Noun (Naming Word) Adjective (Describing Word)
dog cute, furry
butterfly colourful, beautiful
❖ Reading and Listening – Growing Through Stories
Reading and listening to stories is a great way for children to build strong
language and vocabulary skills. Stories spark imagination, boost creativity,
and deepen children's understanding of the world around them. They also
encourage good listening and improve comprehension. Stories make
learning fun, engaging and full of amazing discoveries!
