will do my best to reply as soon as possible.
MATERIALS AND TOOLS

• 3.00mm crochet • 2 x 10.00 mm • Cream yarn

hook (size D will safety eyes • Green yarn
also work) • Polyester lling • Pet brush / comb
• Yarn needle • Fabric glue • Brown felt
• Scissors • Brown yarn

The yarn I use is an 8ply or DK weighted yarn, with a gauge of 22 stitches

x 30 rows.

TECHNIQUES AND ABBREVIATIONS

This pattern comes with a 20 page photo tutorial techniques guide. All page
references refer to that guide. You can also nd these guides or download a
copy at my tutorials page (https://53stitches.com/category/tutorial/). Head to
page 2 of the guide for a more in depth description on how to read my patterns.

ch = chain (page 6)
st = stitch/stitches
sl st = slip stitch (page 11)
sc = single crochet (page 9)
MR = magic ring (page 7)
inc = increase, 2 sc in the same stitch (page 9)
dec = invisible decrease (page 10)
[ sc, inc ]x 2 = repeat stitches within square brackets 2 times i.e. sc, inc, sc, inc
(ct Blue) = change to blue yarn. The stitches after this instruction will be in blue.
(see page 17 for how to change colours)

This pattern is worked in continuous rounds and I suggest using a stitch marker
to help you mark the rst stitch of each round. I like to use bobby pins. At the
start of the round, just move the bobby pin onto the loop that's currently on
your hook to mark it.

You cannot resell any part of this pattern. You may do anything you want with
the items made from it - including selling them yourself. If you do, please
include a link back to the pattern listing on Etsy or my website :)

Finish off with a slip stitch, and leave a tail approximately 20cm long for
attaching to the body later. At this point, make sure that you have the correct
side on the “outside” of the doll (see page 4 of your techniques guide).

We're using 10mm black safety eyes with metal washers. Insert
the safety eyes between rows 10 and 11, with about 6 or 7 stitches between
them. Now put the washer on the safety eyes to make sure they stay nice and
snug. Stuff the head!

Finish off by doing a slip stitch in the next stitch. There's no need to leave a long
tail for the body. Stuff the piece.

The ears and tail can start to get
tricky with skipped stitches, so I’ve
got some photos if you’re
struggling.

To create the notches in the tail and

ears, we’re going to chain and skip
a few stitches. You want to try and
position the notch so that it’s at the
edge of the ear. When you reach
the chains in round 8 of the tail,
press the piece at so that the next
four stitches (which we’ll be
skipping) are at the edge of the ear
(two on either side).

Then chain 4. The next sc will be worked into the tail again, but it will be the
5th stitch from the start of round 8. The picture in the bottom left shows what
the tail looks like after row 8 has been nished.

Don't forget you may need to turn the piece at some point. For smaller pieces
like ears, you usually want to try doing it early - around row 3. See page 4 of
the guide for info about the “right” vs “wrong” side.

Finish off by doing a slip stitch in the next stitch. Cut the yarn, leaving enough
of a tail to attach to the body later - approximately 15cm. The ears are too small
for stuf ng, so they're ne without it. Squish the ears so they're at.

Next we're going to cut the darker insides of Leafeon's ear out of the brown felt.
You can cut a paper guide if that makes it easier to do. We're basically cutting
the ear shape, only a little bit smaller. Then, glue this piece in place using fabric
glue.

ASSEMBLY
That's all of the crocheting done! Pin all of the pieces to the body before
attaching them to make sure that they’re positioned correctly.

Then it’s just a simple matter of using the tails to attach all of the pieces (see
page 19 of the guide for how to attach limbs). It's up to you, but I will generally
attach the limbs in this order: the legs to the body, the arms to the body, the tail
to the body and then the ears to the head. Don't attach head just yet.

Once you have the arms and legs

attached to the body, take a length
of green yarn and embroider on
some of the icking leaf detailing
that Leafeon has. I usually just poke
the needle through the body and
out the arm, then knot the yarn
loosely to give it a bit of volume,
and pull it back through. Hopefully
you can see what I’m talking about
in the pictures. I usually do one or
two on opposite sides of each arm
and leg, but hey, feel free to mix it
up - I’m sure not every Leafeon in
the Pokemon world is exactly alike.

For the uffy green part on the chest, cut a short length of green yarn and latch
it onto the chest. Similarly to how we’ve attached Eevee’s collar or Charmanders
tail in previous patterns. Then, as with those patterns, take a metal pet brush or
comb, brush out the green yarn until uffy, and then twist it to help it keep its
curly, pointy shape. For an even neater look where it attaches, needle felt the
end in place on the chest (I’m not sure how secure this would be though).

Then we want to do the same attaching/brushing out/twisting to shape method

with the larger uffy hair-do on the top of Leafeon’s head, as well as the smaller
pieces in the same cream used on the doll at the top of the head and below the
ears. The red pins mark the cream coloured yarn, and the green pin will be
green.

Once you’ve got those shaped the way you like, it’s time to attach the head.
Both the head and the body had 24 stitches in their last rows, so all you need to
do is align the head with the body and whipstitch closed. I often get halfway
and realise that the head is very crooked at the front - that’s ne, undo the
stitches, adjust the head, and try try again!

And you're done! I hope you’ve had fun and congratulations on nishing! I love
seeing all of the nished creations, so be sure to tag @53stitches on Instagram!
