A central power station has annual factors as follows.
Load factor = 60%, Capacity
factor = 40% and Use factor =
45%. Power station has a maximum demand of 15000 KW. Determine annual energy
production, reserve capacity over and above load and hours per year not in service.
Given:
Load Factor = 60% (0.60)
Capacity Factor = 40% (0.40)
Use Factor = 45% (0.45)
Maximum Demand = 15,000 kW
Total Hours in a Year = 8760 hours
Calculations:
1. Annual Energy Production:
= Load Factor × Maximum Demand × Hours in a Year
= 0.60 × 15,000 × 8760 = 78,840,000.00 kWh
= 78.84 million kWh
2. Reserve Capacity Over and Above Load:
Plant Capacity = Maximum Demand / Use Factor = 15,000 / 0.45 = 33,333.33 kW
Reserve Capacity = Plant Capacity - Maximum Demand = 33,333.33 - 15,000 = 18,333.33 kW
3. Hours per Year Not in Service:
Operating Hours = Capacity Factor × Total Hours = 0.40 × 8760 = 3504.00 hours
Hours Not in Service = 8760 - 3504.00 = 5256.00 hours
