Experiment Number 2.
Name of the Experiment:Experiment on RAM
RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of volatile memory used by computers to store data that is actively
being used or processed. It allows for fast read and write access, which helps the CPU quickly retrieve and
execute instructions. Unlike hard drives or SSDs, data in RAM is lost when the computer is turned off.
The more RAM a system has, the more programs it can run simultaneously without slowing down. RAM is
essential for multitasking, gaming, and running memory-intensive applications. There are different types of
RAM, such as DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5, with newer versions offering faster data transfer rates. RAM plays a
crucial role in system performance and responsiveness.
The purpose of RAM (Random Access Memory) is to temporarily store data and instructions that the
computer's CPU needs while performing tasks. It acts as the system’s short-term memory, allowing for quick
access to active programs and processes. This helps your computer run smoothly and efficiently, especially
when multitasking or using large applications like games or editing software. Unlike a hard drive or SSD, RAM
is volatile, meaning it loses all data when the computer is turned off. More RAM generally means better
performance and faster processing for running applications.
1.Amount Of Memory:
We can check the performance of your memory (RAM) in just 3 simple steps:
1.Using Resource Monitor (Windows)
1. Press Win + R, type resmon, and press Enter.
2. Go to the CPU tab.
2.Open Task Manager
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc (or Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Task Manager), then go to the "Performance" tab and
click on "Memory". Here, you'll see real-time stats like total RAM, usage, speed (MHz), form factor, and
number of slots used.
3.Memory:
Type DDR2 RAM (Double Data Rate 2)
Clock speed 400 MHz
Capacity 1 GB • Data transfer speed: Up to 800 MT/s • Operating voltage: 1.8 V Front side Back side
4.CPU-Z software: CPU-Z is a free tool that gives detailed information about your system's hardware — like
the CPU, RAM, motherboard, and more. CPU-Z is a free system profiling software that provides detailed
information about a computer’s hardware components. It is mainly used to identify and monitor specifications
of the CPU, memory (RAM), motherboard, and graphics. The software helps users understand the exact
model, speed, and performance of their processor and RAM without needing to open the computer. It’s
especially useful for checking system compatibility before upgrades, verifying newly installed components, or
simply learning more about your system’s internals. CPU-Z reads and displays live data, so you can monitor
real-time changes like CPU frequency and RAM activity. It also includes a benchmarking tool to compare your
processor's performance with other CPUs. Overall, CPU-Z is a lightweight yet powerful tool that’s valuable for
both casual users and tech enthusiasts.
How to Use CPU-Z (Step-by-Step):
1. Download and Install CPU-Z
2. Launch the Software
3. Explore Key Tabs: Memory Tab- Shows your RAM type (DDR3/DDR4/DDR5), size, speed, and channels. Here
is the picture of memory tab from CPU-Z software:
Capacity (GB/TB) - 32GB
RAM Type - DDR5
Bus Speed(MHz) - 6000MHz
Number of Pin - 288 Pin
CAS Latency - CL40
LED Lighting - RGB
