Grammar Functions

I - Study the following functions and the given examples first:

1. Would you like + noun/verb


 Would you like a drink?

 Would you like to have lunch now?

2. Describing People using 'look' and 'seem'

 He/She/The person looks/seems + adj

3. Giving instructions

 Verb (without to) = things to do.

 Do not (don't) + Verb (without to) = things not to do.

4. Uncertainty with: Maybe / Perhaps

 Perhaps / maybe she's sick.

5. Be going to

 Be (in the simple present tense) + going to + verb = intention to do


something.

6. Ability in the future

 Will be able to + verb

7. Expressing surprise

 Adjectives like 'Great! / Wonderful!'

 How + adjective: How exciting! / How nice! / How sad!

 What a surprise!

8. Asking for someone's opinion.

 Do you think she will come by train?

9. Expressing one's opinion.

 I think so. She hates driving at night.

10. Inviting someone to have/do something.

 Inviting: Would you like to go with us to the park?

11. Accepting/refusing the invitation

 Accepting: I'd be happy to. I feel bored.

 Refusing: Sorry, I can't. I have homework to finish.
