GOSPEL EVANGELISM.

20MIN.
Luke 19:10: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
2 Timothy 4:5: But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do
the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
Isaiah 60:22. "The least of you will become a thousand, and the smallest
a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will accomplish it quickly"

What is Evangelism Gospel?

A. Evangelism Gospel refers to the act of SHARING THE GOOD NEWS of what Jesus Christ has done to you
and through you with others, INTENDING TO LEAD THEM TO HOPE, FAITH AND LOVE in Christ and
NURTURE THEIR SPIRITUAL GROWTH

1 Corinthians 1:17: For Christ did not send me to baptise, but to PREACH THE
GOSPEL—not with WISDOM and ELOQUENCE, lest the CROSS OF CHRIST be
EMPTIED OF ITS POWER.

Romans 10:14-21.. And how are they to BELIEVE IN HIM OF WHOM THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD?[a]
And HOW ARE THEY TO HEAR without SOMEONE PREACHING? 15 And HOW ARE THEY TO PREACH UNLESS
THEY ARE SENT? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16
But they have not all obeyed the gospel.

Isaiah 52:7: How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that BRINGETH GOOD
TIDINGS, that PUBLISHETH PEACE; that BRINGETH GOOD TIDINGS OF GOOD, that PUBLISHETH
SALVATION; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

2 Timothy 2:2 The things which you have HEARD/EXPERIENCE/BLESSED from me in the
PRESENCE OF MANY WITNESSES, entrust these to FAITHFUL MEN who will be able to TEACH
OTHERS ALSO.
DIFFERENT KINDS OF EVANGELISM:
While some pastors can name up to eight different styles, we’ll focus on the main three: Pulpit, Passive, and
Aggressive Planned.

1. PULPIT EVANGELISM:

PRIESTS USE PULPIT EVANGELISM IN CHURCHES AND BIG GATHERINGS

 MASS EVANGELISM. In this type, spreading the gospel takes place in a large group setting, e.g., a
crusade or rally. It usually involves a powerful message designed to reach as many people as
possible in a short amount of time.

 MEDIA EVANGELISM. In this approach, a person uses various forms of media to spread the gospel. The
most commonly used media platforms are television, radio, and social media.

2. AGGRESSIVE PLANNED EVANGELISM

This is a directly opposite approach of the Pulpit Evangelism, AS ITS MAIN ADVANTAGE IS EYE-TO-EYE
CONTACT.

SUB METHODS.
 ONE-ON-ONE/ PERSONAL/ STREET EVANGELISM. Personal evangelism is the most common form of
evangelism in the present-day world. It involves talking to someone about Jesus or the gospel
in a one-on-one setting. It can be conducted in a formal setting, e.g., during Cell group, Bible study,
or informally, e.g., sharing a testimony with a friend.
 DOOR-TO-DOOR EVANGELISM. This method involves going door-to-door in your community. It is a
fantastic way of REACHING PEOPLE WHO MAY NOT HAVE HAD CHANCE TO OF HEARING STRONG
MESSAGE OF HOPE IN CHRIST, Experience suggests that the most efficient groups consist out of three
people and have both men and women.

 FRIENDSHIP EVANGELISM. In this approach, ONE DEVELOPS RELATIONSHIPS OR FRIENDSHIPS

WITH OTHERS. Once the BOND IS CREATED, they spend time with their friends and share their faith
in an organic manner.

 PRISON EVANGELISM. Prison evangelism involves sharing the gospel with inmates. It involves
offering hope for a better future to people in prisons.

 BOOKLET PREACHING. This method involves giving out tracts in person or distributing them at public
places such as restaurants, cinemas or malls

3. PASSIVE EVANGELISM OR LIFESTYLE PREACHING.

There are three environments where Passive Evangelism takes place: 1. Workplace, 2. Neighbourhood, 3.
Home.

SUB METHODS.
 SERVICE EVANGELISM. In service evangelism, one meets others' needs and shows them
Christ's love through acts of service, e.g., feeding the needy, STARTING PROJECTS,
ORPHANAGES, SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, ETC and volunteering at a local soup kitchen. The gospel is
shared as the acts of service are offered.

 ARTISTIC PREACHING. WRITING CHRISTIAN SONGS, THEATRE PLAYS, and MOVIES can all serve as
effective methods to spread the word of God.

 HOSPITALITY EVANGELISM. In this approach, ONE INVITES OTHER PEOPLE INTO THEIR HOME and
BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM. Faith is taught and shared as people get to interact and know
more about each other.

B. IMPORTANCE OF GOSPEL EVANGELISM.

Gospel evangelism holds significant importance in the Christian faith for several reasons.

Firstly, it fulfils the Great Commission given by Jesus to His disciples, commanding them to go and MAKE
DISCIPLES of all nations. Mark 16:15: And He said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the
gospel to the whole creation." Matthew 28:20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Secondly, it demonstrates LOVE and COMPASSION by sharing the HOPE and TRANSFORMATION found in
Christ. 1 Peter 3:15: But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to
everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Thirdly, gospel evangelism plays a vital role in expanding the Kingdom of God and bringing about spiritual
revival. Romans 10:10: For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth, one
confesses and is saved.
