Look carefully at the clue, it is all up to you. A man lives; a man dies. Figure out the “who’s”, “what’s”
and “why’s”. Don’t be scared, you are going to change the world. So, be brave and think smart, so you
can find the solutions even when the truths have all been whirled and swirled.
1. Five children were playing kickball. One of the five broke a
window.
When questioned about the incident, each child made three statements
of which two were true and one was false. The statements are given
below.
Joe:
1. I didn’t do it.
2. Sally will tell who did it.
3. One of us is in big trouble.
Matt:
1. Joyce did it.
2. I didn’t do it.
3. I don’t even like to play kickball.
Vince:
1. I didn’t do it.
2. Joyce and I are good friends.
3. Sally doesn’t know who did it.
Joyce:
1. Matt lied when he said I broke the window.
2. I never saw Vince before today.
3. I never broke a window in my life.
Sally:
1. I saw Joyce break it.
2. I didn’t break the window.
3. I want to go home. Who broke the window?
(Answer) Vince did it.
Joyce’s statements 1 and 3 must be true. If she had broken the
window, both statements would have been false. But since each
child told only one lie, these two statements must be true.
Therefore, Joyce’s statement 2 is the one that is false.
The statement of all the other children can then be proven true
or false using this information.
Since we know that Joyce’s statement 2 is false, Sally’s
statement 1 and Matt’s statement 1 have to be false. Joe’s
statement 2 has to be false, since Sally did not tell who did
it. Now we are left only with Vince.
2. A prisoner is told: “If you tell a lie we will hang you, if you tell the truth

holder." Thus, beauty is in your eye.
5. An old man dies, leaving behind two sons. In his will, he orders his sons
to race with their horses, and the one with the slower horse will receive his
inheritance. The two sons race against each other, but since they're both
holding their horses back, they go to a wise man and ask him what they
should do. After that, the brothers race again — this time at full speed.
What did the wise man tell them?
(Answer) After they switch horses, whoever wins the race will
get the inheritance because they still technically own the
losing (i.e., slower) horse.
6. You are walking down a road and come to a fork. One path leads to
certain death; the other leads to eternal happiness. You don't know which
is which. In the middle of the fork, you come across two brothers who
know which road is which. One brother always tells the truth and the other
always lies. You can only ask them one question. How would you
determine which road to take?
(Answer) Let's say the path on the right leads to eternal
happiness. After you ask your question, both brothers will
tell you the exact same thing: "He would say the left path
leads to eternal happiness." In either case you would pick
the opposite of what they both say, because one is telling
the truth about it being a lie, and one is lying about it
being the truth.
7. Four people arrive at a river with a narrow bridge that can only hold two
people at a time. It's night-time and they have one torch that has to be used
when crossing the bridge. Person A can cross the bridge in one minute, B
in two minutes, C in five minutes, and D in eight minutes. When two
people cross the bridge together, they must move at the slower person's
pace. Can they all get across the bridge in 15 minutes or less?
(Answer) The group of four must follow these steps.
- First, A and B cross the bridge and A brings the light
back. This takes 3 minutes.
- Next, C and D cross and B brings the light back. This
takes another 10 minutes.
- Finally, A and B cross again. This takes another 2

had put sugar in his “first” cup before finding the fly.

room. He entered and saw that her favourite statuette was broken. At that
moment someone ran out of the room. John tried to catch up with the
stranger. But in the street the lenses on his eyeglasses fogged up because
of cold weather. He could see nothing, giving the stranger the opportunity
to disappear. John told this story to a policeman but he refused to
investigate the case. The cop asked him to stop lying and admit that it
was he who had broken the statuette.
Was John’s story actually fake?
(Answer) Yes, it was. John ran out into the street while
