Download the ‘Microsoft Lens’ application on


your mobile device

IOS - Open the ‘App Store’ app


Android – Open the ‘Play Store’ app

Search for ‘Microsoft Lens’ and select ‘Install’

When you open the Office

the first time, you will be
asked to login.

Enter your school email and password.

Once logged in, you will be presented with the
interface to the right. Settings

From here you can capture a new photo of a
document or you can select a document from
3 your recently taken pictures from the carousel.

Your document will be automatically detected by the


app and will display an orange border around it.

Existing images can also be added to your PDF via


the carousel or the photo icon in the bottom left

When you have lined your document up, select the


large white dot to take a photo of it.

Ensure that the app is set to ‘Document’ view below.


(This will be set as default)
Once you have taken or chosen your photo, you
can use the anchor points on the sides and corners
of your document to crop the image, however,
Microsoft Lens will automatically crop your
document for you.

You can set your selection to be full-screen using the


button indicated.
It’s best to line up your image as straight as
possible, but don’t worry if your image is not
5 perfectly straight as the document scanner will
correct this for you.
After selecting ‘Confirm’ you can select the ‘add’
option in the bottom left to add another image to
your PDF.

Use the white anchor points on the sides and corners


of your document to crop the image.

You can set your selection to be full-screen using the


button indicated.
Return to previous screen
For additional editing options, select ‘more’
on the bottom menu which will expand to the
options displayed here:

Add an additional image to you PDF sequence

Apply a filter to your image, e.g. brighten a document

Crop your image using the anchor points shown

Rotate your image

Delete a single image from the PDF sequence

7 Draw over the image

Add text over the image

Change to order your images appear in the PDF


Once you are happy with your selection and you
are ready to create your PDF, select ‘Done’
in the bottom right of the screen:

Once done, you must select the ‘PDF’ option
from the menu to generate your PDF.

Select the ‘PDF’ file format Student’s OneDrive

Student’s Notebook > Quick Notes

Student’s OneDrive > Office Lens

Student’s OneDrive

Select ‘Save’ and your PDF will be uploaded to Student’s OneDrive

your school OneDrive and can now be accessed


from your desktop.

You will now have a folder titled ‘Office Lens’ in your OneDrive

and you PDF file can be found here
