Personal Computer Entry Registration (Pcer)

The document outlines a project for developing a digital Personal Computer Entry Registration (PCER) system at AASTU to replace the current manual registration process for PCs. The system aims to enhance security, reduce human errors, and improve gate processing times by centralizing data access and providing a user-friendly interface for registration and verification. The project also allows for future scalability with potential integrations like QR codes and mobile verification.

PERSONAL COMPUTER ENTRY REGISTRATION (PCER)

DESCRIPTION:
In our university (AASTU), it is mandatory for both students and staff to register their personal
computers (PCs) at the entrance gates during their first entry. This registration is currently performed
using a manual, paperwork-based method. Upon exit, individuals are again required to present their
registered PCs for verification. However, this traditional system is often inefficient, time-consuming,
and vulnerable to errors or security breaches due to the lack of centralized and real-time data access.
To address these issues, we are presenting a project for a development of a Python-based digital
registration and verification system called Personal Computer Entry Registration (PCER). This
system will digitalize the entire process of PC registration and exit verification, replacing paper logs
with a centralized computerized database that is accessible at all campus gates.
The system will feature a simple and user-friendly interface that allows security personnel to register
PC details including the name of the owner, ID number, and PC serial number during the first entry.
Upon exit, the same information can be quickly retrieved and matched for verification purposes. By
adopting this system, the university will benefit from enhanced security, faster gate clearance, and
accurate record-keeping

OBJECTIVE:
 To improve security by maintaining accurate digital records of devices entering and exiting
the campus, reducing the chances of unauthorized equipment movement.
 To reduce human errors and paperwork load, and improve overall gate processing time for
both students and staff.
 To allow future scalability, such as integrating QR codes, Improved ID card scanning, or
mobile verification for even faster academic registration and validation.
