Ksh. 48.12. calculate
i. How much she got in kenya shillings after converting all her money. (1 mark)
ii. The amount of kenya shillings she was left with at the end. (2 marks)

11. A father is now four times as old as his son. Five years ago, he was exactly one year and
half times as old as his son will be in ten years from now. Determine the sum of their

12. An arc length of 11cm subtends an angle of 140° at the circle. Find the area of the enclosed

13. A sum of money is divided among three men X, Y and Z in the ratio 5:3:1. If Y has ksh 700

15. An Educational complex has a nursery school, primary school and a secondary school. A
lesson in the nursery school last 60 min, while in primary it last 30 minutes and in secondary
it lasts 40 min. The lesson began at 8.00 am on Monday. At what time of the day again shall
they begin together (3 marks)
16. 2.5 litres of water of density 1.1g/cm3 is added to 5 litres of alcohol of density 0.8 g/cm3.
Calcultate the density of the mixture. (3 marks)

17. (a) Riggy G traveled to London with ksh 360,000. He exchanged the Kenya shilling for
sterling pounds on arrival when the exchange rate was ₤1 sterling pound = ksh 104.
Determine to the nearest pound how much he received if the bank charged him 2½ %
commission. (4 marks)
(b) In London, he spent ₤2025 and then traveled to Washington D.C where he exchanged the
balance of his money for US dollars. The rate of exchange was ₤1 sterling pound = 1.6 US
dollar. How much did he receive in US dollar assuming no commission was charged?

(c) He spent ¾ of the money and then traveled back to Nairobi. He exchanged the remaining
dollars into Kenya shilling at the rate 1U.S dollar = Ksh 73.25. How much did he receive in
Kenya shilling assuming that no commission was charged

18. Three ships X, Y and Z are approaching a habour H. X is 150km from the habour on a
bearing of O90°. Y is 130km from the habour on a bearing of 130°E and Z is 180km to the
west of Y.
a) Taking a scale of 1cm to represent 20km, make a scale drawing of the routes of the three
ships to the habour. (6 marks)
b) What is the distance between ships X and Z? (2 marks)
c) Find the bearing of H from Z. (2 marks)

19. in a certain meeting, there were 95men in attendance. There were 50 more women than men
and twice as many children as men.

21. A slaughter house bought a number of goats at sh. 2000 each and a number of bulls
at sh. 15,000 each. They paid a total of sh. 190,000. If they bought twice as many
goats and three bulls less, they would have saved sh. 5000.
(a)Find the number of each type of animal bought (5 marks)
(b)The slaughter house sold all the animals at a profit of 25% per goat and 30% per
bull. Determine the total profit they made. (5 marks)
