About VIT

result in action" because Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a dream of Dr.G.
Viswanathan (Chancellor, VIT) come true. Founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College, it
has grown by leaps and bounds to attain its present status as VIT, one of the premier

Nationality
The applicant for admission should be a Resident Indian National and should have
graduated from institutions located in India.
Foreign and NRI/ PIO candidates must apply separately. For further details, please visit
the International Relations tab in VIT website.

Admission Procedure

The applicants should apply online in the respective link provided in the website
(www.vit.ac.in) by paying a non-refundable application fee of Rs.1200/- (rupees
thousand two hundred only).
Applicants should register for VITMEE, a Computer Based Objective test at indicated test
centres.
The list of short-listed candidates will be published in the website or personal SMS will
be sent to the registered mobile number for online counselling.
Short-listed Candidates will be asked to choose the preference of campus and branch.
Selected candidates will have to pay an advance payment of Rs. 1 lakh.
Candidates who fail to pay the advance before the deadline, will not be considered for
admission.

Application Form
Candidates can apply through online at www.vit.ac.in following the steps given. The
applicants should also have a scanned copy of their documents with photo and
signature ready to upload. (Refer the List given below).

Industry Sponsored Candidate

There are a few seats reserved for candidates sponsored by Research Organizations/
Industries for the M.Tech. degree programmes .
Sponsored candidates should submit their applications through the proper channel in a
proforma given in Appendix -I.
The Candidates should send the sponsorship letter/certificate along with a copy of the
downloaded application by post on or before last date.

Admit Card for VITMEE 2025

Admit cards can be downloaded from www.vit.ac.in Admit Card will not be faxed or sent
by post or e-mail personally. The candidates must not mutilate the Admit card or alter
any entry made therein.
The Admit card is not transferable to any other person. Impersonation is a legally
punishable offence.
The Admit card will contain your name, registration number, photograph, Signature, your
postal address, slot, date of examination and also the address of your test centre, test
schedule and set of instructions for the test.
The candidate should carefully examine the Admit card once received. Any discrepancy
should be immediately brought to the notice of the Director (PG Admissions) .

Applicants will not be permitted to write the test without a valid admit card. The Admit
Card should be presented to the invigilators at the test centre for verification.
The candidates must sign the attendance sheet at the appropriate places at the test
centre. The fingerprint of the candidate writing the examination will be recorded and later
verified at the time of counselling.
The Admit Card should be preserved and produced for verification at the time of
counselling/ admission.
Candidates are not eligible for admission in case the applicant violates any instruction or
involves unfair means in the examination hall.

Counselling Procedure
Selection is based on the rank secured through CBT (Computer Based Test) VITMEE
2025
Selected candidates will be sent e-mail and SMS to the registered e-mail ID and mobile
number to attend online counselling and to give their choice preference.
Selected candidates can participate in online counselling based on their ranking. They
can give option for specific academic qualification eligibility, campus, programme and
category of fees. Allotment will be based on the rank obtained, preference given.
VIT will verify the eligibility of candidates after completing the tuition fee payment.
Candidates are required to produce documents on the day of reporting to the campus or
as when asked for by the Office of PG admission. Provisional Admission offered during
counselling will be valid ONLY if the eligibility is fulfilled.
The counselling process is common for VIT group of Institutions. The online counselling
will be held only in one phase. The rank, choice entry will be available in the counselling
portal.
The applicants who fail to appear in the online counselling are not eligible for seat
allotment.
Applicants those who have selected campus / programme / fee category, the allotment
will be based on VITMEE rank. Once the seat is allotted the Provisional Admission Letter
will be available in the portal.
Once allotted campus / programme / fee category cannot be changed.

Scholarships
Qualified Students in GATE will be offered fellowship from AICTE according to AICTE norms.

Refund of Fees
If for any reason the candidate withdraws from the programme, the refund will be made as
per the norms of the UGC.

Submission of “No Due” Certificate

Certificate from his/her respective Director to get back the certificates. This should be
accompanied by the application for withdrawal and the original fee receipt and original
provisional admission letter. The certificates will be issued only on production of 'NO DUES'
Certificate in the prescribed form, obtained from the PG Admission Section

Hostel accommodation is available for both men and women separately at Vellore, Chennai
campus, VIT-AP and VIT-Bhopal. For details please log on to VIT website: www.vit.ac.in

General Discipline

All candidates admitted to the Institute shall maintain good conduct, pay the requisite tuition
fees and other charges by the due dates, attend their classes regularly and abide by the rules
and regulations of the Institution. If at any point of time, the conduct and character of a
candidate is not satisfactory or is of a suspicious nature, the management reserves the
right, without assigning any reason, to make him / her vacate the hostel or expel him/ her
from the Institute.

Important Instructions for Computer-Based Test (CBT) Entrance Examination

Candidate is expected to arrive at the examination hall at least 01:30 hours before the
start of the examination, with Admit Card (hard copy). If a candidate does not report on
time, he/she is likely to miss the general instructions given in the Exam Hall.
Candidate will not be permitted to enter the examination hall after 2:00 pm.
Candidate will not be permitted to leave the exam hall until 4:30 pm, even if the exam
was completed.
Candidates are requested to keep the Admit Card safely with them and bring it during
the Admission Process. Candidate should produce it on demand.
A candidate who does not possess the admit card issued by VIT Institute shall not be
permitted to attend the VITMEE exam under any circumstances.
Candidate is instructed to complete the Registration process with the help of Hall
Invigilators.
Candidate will be allotted a computer system by Hall Invigilator to attend the Computer
Based Test (CBT).
Candidate is not permitted to carry any text material (printed / written), slide rulers, log
tables, electronic watches with facility of calculator, mobile phones or any other
electronic devices.
Candidate should bring a pencil or pen to carry out any rough calculations Test will start
exactly at the time specified in Admit Card and an announcement will be made by Hall
Invigilator to start and stop the exam.
During the exam process, the Hall Invigilator can request the admit card to verify the
candidate.
Under any circumstances the candidate may not be permitted to take an extra time,
unless otherwise permitted by Center Superintendents.
The Candidates are required to check the VIT website for regular updates regarding
VITMEE Admit Card.
Exam would comprise of multiple choice questions with question number appearing at
the top center of computer screen and the time left for the exam to be completed.
For each question, candidate has to select the right option using the mouse.
Candidates will be allowed to change their answer any time during the exam duration.

Eligibility Criteria
The following are the basic prerequisites for candidates:
A full-time degree from any recognized University/Institute with a minimum aggregate of
60% or first class for M.Tech. degree programmes.
(Candidates appearing for their final degree exam/ final semester exam in the current
year are also eligible to apply.)
A minimum of 60% aggregate in X and XII Std. / Diploma
Completion of final Semester/year exams before the selection at VIT

Placement Requirements:
Industries offering Placement at VIT have stipulated a minimum of 60% Marks for

of maximum two years is permitted.

The Computer-Based Test (CBT) objective question Paper consists of 100 questions
with a maximum of 100 marks. Of these, 80 will be from the chosen technical subject
and 20 will be from English communication. There are no negative marks for wrong
