The Sec 1 Experiential Learning Programme (ELP) is a week-long event designed to promote
learning through hands-on experiences. It took place in Term 2, Week 4. During this
programme, students engaged in specially prepared programmes from Monday to
Wednesday and participated in an outdoor learning trip on Thursday. For instance, G3 and
G2 students visited Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and Botanic Gardens. The ELP aims to
make learning more engaging and meaningful by taking students out of the classroom to
learn through real-world interactions.

“I felt happy and satisfied with my experience
during ELP week! My favourite program was the
learning journey to Sungei Buloh! What I liked
most about it was that we identified many Lydia Low Si Ya
mangrove and plant species and I learnt so much 1 GRIT 1
about nature! One thing I most definitely look
forward to in further ELP weeks are more group
work/experiments as they are very fun and I
would like to do it again!”

“During the ELP programme I felt happy as I was

able to learn about new things and created
stronger bonds with my friends. My favourite
Masiclat Jillian Marie Jumig programme was when we went to Sungei Buloh
Wetland Reserve to observe mangroves. During this
1 GRIT 1 programme, I was able to learn many facts about
mangroves and I enjoyed beautiful sceneries as
well. One thing I look forward to in future ELP
programmes are group projects that we can
participate in.”

“My favourite program of ELP program was the

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve trip for our
Geography Investigation activity as it helped me Elijah Scott Chua Zheng
learn and appreciate more about the everyday 1 GRIT 2
nature that people tend to take for granted in
life. I look forward to having more educational
learning journeys as it could teach me more
things that textbooks could never teach us.”
