A Note From the Director Autographs
Well, folks, it’s time to travel back to 1959 — where the hair
was high, the cars were cooler than a freezer, and high school
drama was a whole lot more… greasy. Grease isn’t just a
musical; it’s an all-out, toe-tapping, finger-snapping
celebration of the 50s, with enough sass, spunk, and slicked-
back hair to power a jukebox for decades. We will take you
back to Rydell High, where we're reminded of the universal
themes that make this story so enduring — the excitement
and challenges of adolescence, the power of friendship, and
the journey toward self-discovery.
In bringing Grease to life, we’ve embraced the exuberance
and energy of its characters, while also exploring the
complexities that lie beneath their high school personas. At
its heart, Grease is about finding who you are and navigating
the push and pull of expectations, peer pressure, and, of
course, love. It’s a show filled with vibrant characters, catchy
songs, and unforgettable moments, but it also asks us to
consider how we change and grow as individuals, both within
relationships and as part of a community.
As we bring Rydell High to life, get ready for a show packed
with catchy tunes, unforgettable characters, and, yes, some
wild dance moves. You'll meet Danny, Sandy, Rizzo, and the
gang — who may have their differences, but they all share one
thing in common: they want to look good and have fun while
doing it (preferably with a lot of leather jackets involved).
I can promise that this is the one musical where you can
leave your worries about perfect pitch at the door — we’re
here for fun, laughter, and plenty of 50s style. So sit back,
relax, and enjoy the ride. After all, life’s too short to not
shake, rattle, and roll!
-Becky Adams, Director

Broadway and “Greasemania” took off, resulting in one of the longest
running shows in Broadway history. The 1978 movie became and
remains the highest grossing movie musical of all time. Originally an
actor, Jacobs has been seen on television, in motion pictures, regional
theatre, national tours, and on Broadway. He is the co-author of
several other plays and musicals including Island of Lost Coeds, a
musical spoof of the low budget sci-fi/horror/jungle movies of the
1950s, which he wrote with Warren Casey. In May 2014, Mr. Jacobs
was presented with an honorary doctorate degree from Columbia
College in Chicago. He currently resides in Southern California and
remains active in the theatre, especially with the American Theatre
Company of Chicago.
WARREN CASEY (Author, Composer and Lyricist) was born in
Yonkers, New York, and attended Syracuse University. During the late
‘50s, he learned all about “greasers” while working as an art teacher
in upstate New York. He moved to Chicago in 1962, where he hoped to
pursue an acting career. He appeared in dozens of productions,
including creating the role of Bernie Litko in David Mamet’s Sexual
Perversity in Chicago. He supported himself with jobs in retail,
including working as an assistant manager of a chain of apparel
stores, and as a record salesman. In the meantime, he taught himself
how to play the guitar and began writing songs. Mr. Casey acted with
the Chicago Stage Guild (where he met Jim Jacobs), the Old Town
Players, and the Kingston Mines Theatre. The latter company staged
the original production of GREASE which he wrote with Jim Jacobs.
After the incredible success of both the musical and the movie, the
two collaborated on Island of Lost Coeds, a musical satire of the B-
movies of the 1950s. Mr. Casey died in 1988.
