INTRODUCTION
● Introduction :-
Withthe current depletion of fossil fuels and its price hike, there is a need
for another energy resource to run the vehicle. The automobile sector is
considering Electric Vehicle as a solution to the industry and
environment in India. Electric Vehicles are the replacement for
petroleum-based vehicles. They are one of the emerging technologies
as well as ceo friendly and viable. The replacement of internal
combustion engines with electric engines will reduce pollution to a great
extent and be profitable to consumers. Many countries around theglobe
have implemented this technology and are contributing towards
betterment of the environment. The world's population is growing at a
rate of about 1.1% annually, which is hurting our natural resources
because more people use up more of the earth's resources as a result of
increased demand Because they don't emit any emissions, electric cars
are better for the environment than traditional automobiles.
7
In India, the major automobile giants that have introduced electric cars
are Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, and MG Motors . The total sales
figures for all EVs increased by 20% when compared to 2018-2019. In
2019-2020, there were approximately3400 sales of electric cars. This
paper explains in detail how Tata Motors Limited rose to the top of the
electric vehicle market in terms of production and sales
Known sales year 2024 In 2024, Tata Motors remained the top electric
vehicle (EV) seller in India, with sales exceeding 60,000 units, and
overall Indian EV sales increased by 20% to nearly 100,000 units. Tata's
8
EV sales saw a decline in early 2025, but the company continues to lead
the EV market

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata
Passenger Electric Mobility acknowledged the shifting market dynamics while
continuing to be confident of retaining its pole position in the long term. “Yes, we will
lose some market share in the short term," Chandra acknowledged. "But that's not
the metric we're chasing. Our focus is on the fundamentals—on what it takes to be a
sustained leader in this space."Despite its market share slipping to 62% in 2024 from
73% last year, Tata Motors, India's largest electric car maker, remains confident of
retaining its leadership amid rising competition from players like JSW MG Motor
India, Hyundai Motor India, and Mahindra and Mahindra.Tata Motors' strategy rests
on five core pillars each carefully designed to solidify its position as a market leader,
Chandra said.

Tata motors Electric Vehicle motors propel the EVs and the rechargeable
battery or other portable energy storage device maintains power supply.
These vehicles are energy efficient, generating emissions and reduced
noise. The different categories of EVs are as follows:
BEV: They have no engine and they use electric motors for propulsion
with batteries as the energy storage device. They depend on external
power points for charging the battery. These vehicles are also known as
plug-in vehicles,

CHAPTER IV
Data Analysis method and interpretation
TATA EV
1).What is the sales trend for Tata Motors' Electric Vehicles from 2024 to 2025?
TATA EV Sales :-
Tata Motors' EV sales have shown a declining trend in early 2025, with a notable drop in
year-on-year figures. Factors like the removal of government incentives and increased
competition are contributing to this.Specifically, reports show that there has been a decrease
in the sales numbers for the EV sector of Tata motors.
While Tata Motors remains a key player in the Indian EV market, it's facing increasing
competition. Models like the Punch EV and Nexon EV are part of their offerings, but overall
EV market share has decreased. The market is seeing fluctuations, with some competitors
showing growth in their EV sales.
It is important to understand that the EV market is rapidly changing, and sales numbers can
fluctuate based on many 6 months chart data factors.
2).Which Tata Motors' Electric Vehicle model has the highest market
share in the Indian electric vehicle market?*
Indian electric vehicle (EV) market share data you provided, along with
some theoretical observations:
* Dominance of Local Production:The data strongly indicates that locally
produced EVs (Tata Nexon EV, Tata Tigor EV, Mahindra E-Verito)
command a significant market share, driven by lower GST rates and
potentially lower overall costs.
* Tata Motors' Lead:Tata Motors, particularly with the Nexon EV, holds a
commanding position in the Indian EV market.
* Impact of GST Differentials:The substantial difference in GST rates
(5% vs. 28% or 45%) for local vs. imported/CKD EVs plays a crucial role
in shaping market dynamics.
* CKD vs. CBU Dynamics:CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units like
the MG EZS and Hyundai Kona have a noteworthy presence, while CBU
(Completely Built Unit) luxury EVs (Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW)
occupy a smaller, niche segment.

Chapter . V
Limitation and Assumption
1.)Limited sample size and scope of tatamoters EV
When considering the "limited sample size and scope" of Tata Motors
EVs, it's important to look at the context of the Indian EV market. Here's
a breakdown:
Tata Motors' Market Dominates :
● Tata Motors has a significant lead in the Indian electric passenger
vehicle market. This means that their sales data provides a
relatively comprehensive view of the current state of EV adoption
in India.
● Therefore, while any sample size can have limitations, Tata motors
sales figures, provide a very large sample size relating to the
indian EV market.
1).Data Insights:
• Tata Motors has released data revealing interesting trends:Significant
EV sales are coming from outside major metropolitan areas. A notable
portion of buyers are first-time car owners
• They have released data based on over 100,000 EV sales. This is a
considerable sample size.
•While Tata Motors is a leader, the overall Indian EV market is still
developing.
• Factors like charging infrastructure limitations and affordability remain
challenges that affect the scope of EV adoption.
•Therefore, while Tata motors has a large sample size of current EV
owners, the overall scope of potential EV owners in india is still very
large, and growing.
2)Continued Growth:
Tata Motors is actively expanding its EV portfolio, which will broaden the
scope of available options. As the charging infrastructure improves, EV
adoption is expected to increase, further expanding the sample size and
scope.
In essence, while there are always limitations, Tata Motors' strong
market position provides valuable insights into the Indian EV landscape.
45
The way that metrics are measured can introduce bias. For example, if
"range" is measured in optimal conditions, rather than real world
conditions, it will give a biased view of the vehicle's true capabilities.
3).Specific Tata Motors EV Context:
• Early Adopter Bias:
Early Tata EV adopters might have different usage patterns and
expectations than later adopters, potentially skewing long-term data.
•Software Updates:
Changes in software through over-the-air updates can significantly
impact EV performance, making it difficult to compare data collected at
different times.
To mitigate these biases, it's essential to:
● Use diverse data sources.
● Employ robust statistical methods.
● Clearly define data collection and analysis procedures.
● Be transparent about potential limitations.
By acknowledging and addressing these potential biases, we can gain a
more accurate and reliable understanding of Tata Motors EV
performance and consumer experiences.
