YOUTH CO:LAB INDONESIA


SUB-NATIONAL BOOTCAMP

April - June 2025

BACKGROUND
Indonesia is a country that is rich in potential when it comes to entrepreneurship. With a large
population of over 270 million people, the country has a growing middle class that is
increasingly interested in innovative and creative solutions. Young people, in particular, have
been recognized as key players in the country's economic development, with many starting
their own businesses in various sectors, such as technology, fashion, and food.

As part of the United Nations’ commitment to bringing youth economic empowerment


through decent work and employment and as guided by the National Medium-Term
Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024, UNDP Indonesia ensures to take part in developing
youth in Indonesia. As shown in the UN Partnership Development Framework (UNPDF) with
the Government of Indonesia, the UN-Government of Indonesia sets youth economic
empowerment as its 4th priority.

UNDP Indonesia through the Youth Co:Lab initiative is committed to ensure equitably
benefits are distributed across the diverse landscape of the nation. With Java,
accommodating 54,69% of the youth national population, UNDP Indonesia emphasizes the
importance of a region-inclusive approach and strives to extend the reach of its programs to
regions beyond Java.

In 2024, the localization of Youth Co:Lab was successfully held in 4 sub-nationals bootcamp
activities, representing each stakeholder in Youth Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, in total of 70
Youth Social Entreprises (YSE) empower directly in South Sumatera, Central Java, West
Sulawesi, and DI Yogyakarta. Additionally, each local chapter selected 3 top participants that
attended the National Bootcamp .

Each sub-national bootcamp engaged a local stakeholder to enhance the impact of the
program, as follow:
● South Sumatera chapter partnered with Purna Caraka Muda Indonesia, a youth
organization.
● Central Java chapter was initiated by SUDOKU48, an entrepreneurship support
organization, to provide structured business development support and guidance.
● DI Yogyakarta chapter partnered with Sayur Sleman, a local youth-led social
enterprise.
● West Sulawesi chapter was initated by Universitas Sulawesi Barat one of the public
university engaged with UNDP through the Skill Our Future activity.

Different to the 2024 implementation, the Youth Co:Lab Sub-National 2025 will align with
the 2025 Summit on Green and Digital Innovation, focusing on the important role of young
entrepreneurs in promoting environmental sustainability and digital transformation. This
year’s thematic highlights youth-led innovations that prioritize community-centered,
inclusive solutions, showcasing regenerative business models and climate-smart
technologies. Furthermore, Youth Co:Lab’s 2025 national activities will be focused on sub-
national initiatives, ensuring deeper engagement and localized impact.

As the Youth Co:Lab sub-national initiative involves forging partnerships between local
governmental entities and youth communities,UNDP Indonesia aims to equip youth with the
essential skills and resources needed to drive sustainable development initiatives within their
local communities. By targeting SDG 8 and SDG 11, the innitiative fosters enterpreneurship
and improve employment prospects for youth at the provincial/city level through sustainable
local projects. Additionally, UNDP Indonesia would like to expand engagement with a
broader cohort of young entrepreneurs in the country.

Youth Co:Lab is an initiative in Asia and the Pacific region that aims to empower
youths through innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills. Co-led by Citi
Foundation and UNDP, this initiative has been implemented in more than 20
countries including in Indonesia since 2018.

OBJECTIVE
The Youth Co:Lab Indonesia Sub-National Bootcamp 2025 has the objective to:
1. Amplify the impact of Youth Co:Lab by providing training, guidance, and resources
to young entrepreneurs. Strengthen their business skills and boost the success of
their youth-led ventures.
2. Enhance support for the Youth Co:Lab Sub-National Programme by engaging
government agencies, academic institutions, financial organizations, and community
leaders. Focus on the goal of 'Leaving No Youth Behind'.
3. Extend the reach of Youth Co:Lab to the sub-national level by selecting a
representative from each local chapter to participate in the 2025 Youth Co:Lab
Summit.

PARTICIPANTS CRITERIA
The criteria for the participants will be:
1. Youth participants, aged 17-30 years old.

2. Involved directly/indirectly in the achievement of SDGs.


3. Business is in the field of social entrepreneurship from women, green and digital
innovation sector.
4. Business is at the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage and has been tested.
5. Willing to commit to attending all of the events.
With emphasis on:
1. Participants hailing from groups Youth, women, People with Disabilities (PwD),
People Living with HIV (PLHIV), and transgender.
2. Bonus points for inclusive social enterprises.

PARTICIPANTS BENEFIT
The benefits for the participants are as follows:
- Ability to validate their ideas and/or scale up their social enterprise in a short amount
of time.
- Access to Future:Lab platform for unlimited 1:1 sessions.
- Access to exclusive Youth Co:Lab workshop.
- Be part of the largest social entrepreneurs network in Indonesia.
- Participate in other interesting and beneficial opportunities post-program.

DESIRED OUTPUT
Youth Co:Lab Indonesia Sub-National Bootcamp 2025 would desire outputs per
localization chapter, as follows:
- Getting a minimum of 100 youth applicants (50 teams) to the program/province
- Leveraging and scaling up to 40 youth (20 teams)/province as social entrepreneurs
per province and/or local city of implementation.
- One exemplary social enterprises are to be selected to participate in the Summit in
Jakarta, Indonesia.

KEY PROGRAM ACTIVITIES


Pre-program preparation
1. Community/University partner outreach in Indonesia.
2. Curriculum and module development.
3. Participant sourcing, selections, and assessment.
4. Participants onboarding.

● Workshop & Mentoring


The implementation of Youth Co:Lab Subnational shall begin with a series of online
workshop, we aim to hold six workshop session in each localization chapter for
trainings to empower and equip social entrepreneurs with beneficial skills in order to
support & scale their business idea. The workshop will focus on improving the
business functions of the social enterprises, including but not limited to marketing,
management, operations, production, and finance.

Pitching & Networking Session


The founders present their social enterprise to the general audience. They will also
gather together and make connections along with the public invitees.

Graduation Ceremony
Officially closing the program by celebrating the participants who have successfully
validated and scaled their social enterprise. An award that recognizes the significant
effort of the entrepreneurs will be also provided along with the graduation ceremony.

COMMUNICATION PLAN
- Social media ads and content-making on Youth Co:Lab Sub-National Bootcamp 2025
(pre- and post-event), both in the forms of pictures & video.
- Participant’s campaigns (during the event).
- Post-event articles (post-event).

TIMELINE AND AGENDA


The following timeline provides tentative guidance as to the preferred sequence of events
and the corresponding dates. Apart from the Youth Co:Lab Sub-National Bootcamp, the
implementing partner will support the Youth Co:Lab UNDP team on all program timelines,
Starting from the second week of April 2025 until the pitching and graduation day
program scheduled for June 2025.
