➢ Introduction
Electric circuits consist of various
components, among which resistors are
fundamental. Understanding how resistors
behave when connected in series and parallel
is essential for designing efficient circuits in
electrical and electronic systems
.

➢ Objective
To prepare a model of two resistors
connected in:
• Series
• Parallel And to measure the
equivalent resistance of each
configuration.

➢ Material Required
• Resistors (2 units of known resistance, e.g.,
100Ω each)
• Connecting wires
• Breadboard or circuit board
• Digital Multimeter (DMM)
• Battery or DC power supply (optional)

➢ Theory
Series Connection: When resistors are
connected end-to-end, the total (equivalent)
resistance is the sum of individual
resistances: R_total = R₁ + R₂
Parallel Connection: When resistors are
connected across the same two points, the
total resistance is given by: 1/R_total = 1/R₁
+ 1/R₂ Or R_total = (R₁ × R₂) / (R₁ + R₂)

Parallel Connection:

➢ Procedure

Series Circuit:
1. Connect two resistors (R₁ = 100Ω, R₂
= 100Ω) in series on a breadboard.
2. Use a digital multimeter to measure
total resistance across both resistors.
3. Record the value.

Parallel Circuit:
1. Connect the same resistors in parallel
configuration.
2. Measure the equivalent resistance
using the multimeter.
3. Record the reading.

➢ Result and Conclusion:
1. The model successfully demonstrated the
behavior of resistors in series and parallel.
2. The measured values closely matched the
theoretical calculations.
3. In a series connection, total resistance
increased.
4. In a parallel connection, total resistance
decreased.

➢ Applications:
• Series circuits are used in devices like
Christmas lights.
• Parallel circuits are common in home wiring,
allowing appliances to operate independently.
