Description of Events/ Activities

DSA KickOff (16-Aug-2024)

Organized by IETE-ISF, this beginner-friendly session introduced students to the basics of
Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). It covered important topics such as arrays, linked
lists, and basic algorithms like sorting and searching. Through step-by-step explanations
and hands-on coding activities, participants understood how data is stored and managed in
computer programs. The session helped students build a strong foundation for further
learning in coding and problem solving.

Leeted – Mastering Code Challenges Together (19-Aug-2024)

This interactive event focused on solving programming questions from LeetCode, a popular
platform for coding practice. Students worked both individually and in groups to
understand different types of problems, including string manipulation, recursion, and
dynamic programming. The event encouraged teamwork, logical thinking, and time
management while solving coding problems. It was especially useful for students preparing
for technical interviews and coding competitions.

A Deep Dive into NoC Architectures (16-Sep-2024)

This session explored the concept of Network-on-Chip (NoC) architectures, which are used
to improve data communication inside multi-core processors. Students learned about the
structure of NoCs, how data moves between cores, and the benefits of using this technology
in advanced computing systems. The session included visuals and examples to explain how
NoCs help in reducing delays and increasing speed inside modern processors.

PCB Forge – A Hands-on PCB Prototyping Workshop (19-Sep-2024)

In this workshop, students learned how to design and build their own Printed Circuit
Boards (PCBs). The session started with circuit design on software, then moved on to
creating the physical board, soldering components, and testing the final circuit. This hands-
on experience helped students understand the full process of building an electronic device
from scratch. It was especially helpful for those interested in electronics and hardware
design.

Query Quest – Mastering SQL (07-Oct-2024)
This workshop taught students how to use SQL (Structured Query Language) to manage and
retrieve data from databases. Students learned how to write different types of queries such
as SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, and more. The session used examples from real-world
situations like student records and sales data. By the end of the session, participants were
able to write queries to get specific information and understand how databases work.

PosterCraft with Figma (08-Oct-2024)

PosterCraft was a creative design workshop using Figma, a popular tool for making posters
and digital graphics. Students learned how to use shapes, text, colors, and layout tools to
make attractive and informative posters. The session also covered design principles such as
balance, contrast, and visual hierarchy. By the end, participants had created their own
digital posters and improved their visual communication and design skills.

CyberShield (10-Oct-2024)
This event, organized by IETE-ISF VIT Vellore, was aimed at creating awareness about
cybersecurity. The session covered basic topics like how to stay safe online, how to protect
your data, and why privacy is important in the digital world. Students also learned about
common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and data theft. The session explained
how each person plays an important role in keeping their personal information and devices
secure.

CASA – Campaign Against Substance Abuse (21-Oct-2024)

This was a social awareness event organized to educate students about the dangers of
substance abuse. The session discussed how drugs and alcohol affect a person’s body, mind,
and relationships. It also explained how substance abuse harms society and shared ways to
seek help and support. Students were encouraged to lead a healthy, drug-free life and
spread awareness in their communities.

No. of hours spent = 10

Digital Design Using Verilog (25-Oct-2024)

This technical workshop introduced students to Verilog, a hardware description language
used to design digital circuits. The session explained how to write Verilog code to build logic
gates, counters, and other digital components. Students learned to simulate these circuits on
software and understand how they would work in real hardware. It was a helpful session
for those interested in digital electronics, embedded systems, and VLSI design.
