Convolution

The document outlines additional problems on convolution for the ECE 102 course, focusing on the convolution of signals and systems. It includes specific problems that require the application of the flip-and-drag technique and the determination of output signals using convolution with given impulse responses. The problems involve various signal pairs and their respective convolution calculations.

Additional Problems on Convolution

Problem 1
Consider the signals f1 (t) and f2 (t). Use the flip-and-drag technique to find an analytic expression
for f1 (t) ∗ f2 (t) for signals

(a) in Figure 1

Figure 1: Problem 1

(b) in Figure 2

Figure 2: Problem 1
Problem 2
Consider a system with the impulse response

h(t) = e−t [u(t) − u(t − 2)]

Let the input signal applied to this system be :

x(t) = Π(t − 0.5) − Π(t − 1.5)

 1,
 0≤t <1
= −1, 1≤t <2

0, otheriwise

Determine the outout signal y(t) using convolution.

Problem 3

For each pair of signals x(t) and h(t) given below, find the convolution y(t) = x(t) ∗ h(t).

(a) x(t) = u(t), h(t) = e−2t u(t)

(b) x(t) = u(t), h(t) = [e−t − e−2t] u(t)

(c) x(t) = u(t − 2), h(t) = e−2t u(t)

(d) x(t) = u(t) − u(t − 2), h(t) = e−2t u(t)
